I’m at the dentist trying not to have a panic attack so this was written in stress.
CW: Mentions of like skin melting and stuff like that. Basically how ammonia can affect humans it doesn’t happen but it’s mentioned
I saw somewhere that Simon could possibly go outside of the bio dome cause of his mutations and yes.
But imagine it happens like this.
Rocky is showing Simon how to check the walls of the bio dome just in case something goes wrong and no other Eridain is around he can buy time before getting help. All is going all and well until one of the panels was actually loose and the next thing Simon knows is that one moment he’s in the bio dome and the next he’s flipped onto his back out of it. Simon just blinks before noticing his lungs aren’t burning from ammonia. Neither is his skin or his eyes and nose. He feels fine for some odd reason. Like being wrapped by a heated blanket.
Rocky does not feel fine if his terrified off tune notes were to go by.
He’s trembling like crazy because his pebble is on the side of the bio dome that could kill him and if Simon dies Grace and Adrian will be sad and Rocky won’t be able to fix it he won’t be able to fix Simon like he couldn’t fix-
His panicked thoughts are stopped by Simon tapping on the glass looking perfectly fine. It takes a few minutes for Rocky to calm down to actually process that Simon isn’t dying. His skin isn’t melting he’s not coughing up blood he’s just standing there. As if the ammonia doesn’t affect him.
They both agree to go grab Grace and Adrian who were still in the house making lunch.
“Adrian Grace promise not freak out statement.”
“Adrain Grace promise not freak out, command.”
“Fine, we promise not to freak out bud.”
“Simon outside bio dome.”
After calming them both down they go outside and see Simon just standing there casually. Adrian, still panicking, leaves the bio dome and immediately runs over to their pebble to check him over. He seems fine, no fluid in lungs by what hey can hear and his heart is still going strong. But what if it’s slowly killing him? What if it’s taking its time to poison Simon painfully? They should get him out of here and to Dr. Citrus just in case cause you can never be too careful as a parent they’re totally not overreacting this is typical behavior of a concerned parent when their pebble is in a very poisonous atmosphere that can literally melt his skin off-
A soft hand touches their carapace.
Adrain freezes, they didn’t even know they were stomping their feet in panic, and focuses on this new odd feeling. Human skin was surprisingly soft for a world made up of rocks and metal. Is this what Eridians have been missing out on as a species?
Ok maybe Simon can stay out here a bit longer.
The sudden hug from their pebble solidified that thought. If hugs felt like this then yeah Simon can leave the bio dome anytime he felt like it. Adrian can even give him rides if he wants, they don’t mind. Humans are very warm. Adrian always thought that it was the ammonia in their protective suits but no, humans are actually warm. Not as warm as Erdians though, a soft more comforting warmth.
Simon is also surprised on how smooth Adrain is. They feel like a perfectly smooth skipping stone, as if he’s running his hands on glass.
Is all Simon heard before he was tackled to the floor by an enthusiastic Rocky. He merely laughed and wrapped his arm around Rocky who was trilling in delight while being careful not to put much weight on Simon’s body. The Eridain doesn’t want to accidentally break Simon’s rib or something.
Rocky was surprisingly, a different texture than Adrian. His carapace was more rough and a bit bumpy like a brick, he also seemed to hold more heat than Adrian. It didn’t hurt, in fact it was quite pleasant to touch.
He wonders if Rocky would make a good back scratcher.
Grace wasn’t jealous per se, at least he doesn’t think he is. It’s just a bit lonely watching Simon actually be able to hang out with Rocky and Adrian outside of the bio dome while he’s stuck on the other side. Of course his family doesn’t do that often and if they do either Adrian or Rocky stay on the other side with Grace. But it was still upsetting to not be able to hug his new family.
Which is why he’s surprised when Simon drops two square things in front of him.
“This is what they feel like so you can stop pouting.”
Adrain and Rocky most definitely argue on who gets to stay with Simon on the other side of the bio dome.
“You were able to cuddle him last week.”
“Don’t know why Adrian want to cuddle, Adrain too big. Big big big.”
“…why Rocky hear boss music question?”
