Most of my conversations lately revolved around anxiety and how fast everything is going, how did Facebook know that I wanted to buy this specific product? Is my phone spying on me? Are our computers watching us? Everyone seems to think that we are being watched, spied on and stalked by an unknown “force”: a group of marketers, brands, governments, establishments and even individuals. So I went on imagining a modern day horror story inspired by Alfred Hitchcock’s haunting film “The Birds”, where technology revolts against humans. “The Drones” is a shoot set in the (very) near future: one that is threatening to materialize at any given day.

“Mother” is a photographic series recreating photographs of my mom that marked my childhood, the first image I shot in 2018, the second is a picture of my mom from 1992 taking a picture of me while performing at a school play. My work is about women in denial and the measures they take to escape reality. Throughout the years It became clearer to me that my main inspiration comes from me growing up in Lebanon during the war watching my mother put on her “sunday best” just to try and live life as if nothing was happening. This series is an ode to my original muse and my very first fan ❤️.
