You know when you’re playing a good open world game and you get to a viewpoint and you’re like ooo what’s in that copse of trees I’m going to go see? My brain is like that all the time about real life woodland. Particularly bad today. It’s like when a cat gets suddenly really hyperactive. It’s like there’s a feral and overexcited fox loose in the office meeting room that is the gathering place of my braincells

Love being home and having actual cold water but unfortunately the other bit of my brain also loves being home and having cold water. So I go to get a drink and I splash my face with water instead and go AUGH WHY and then go hehehe water and do it again and go AUGH WHY. Which I’m sure is a normal experience

#I don’t think there’s a single time I’ve used the sink and NOT splashed cold water on my face #Idk at this point. It used to be a calming mechanism but now I think that bit of my brain just fucking loves cold water

the legundo pressure event is going super well and the community is still extremely awesome, so here’s my update from the seawater drinkers;

-Delicious seawater

-Delicious resin… hang on a minute, what? Ah, I’m sure that won’t have consequences later.

-Won netherite in a game of farkle against the other leader minty

-Sea turtle looking cool as hellll

-SE/Sandcastle Kingdom fighting arena is AWESOME and works REALLY WELL. Saw two fights. Hurray for blood sports

-We finally have a single table and chairs for everyone

-Legs signed the guest book (we will not stop drinking the seawater no matter how much you tell us it’s bad for us, sorry.)

-Lie the chicken died in a raid but was resurrected. So the NW chicken church has necromancy. That’s probably fine.

FRIENDLY PSA FOR THE HEATWAVE: Check your meds!!

I keep seeing great posts going around reminding people that SSRIs can cause heat intolerance and dehydration. But a lot of other medications do this too, and they do it in completely different ways.

To explain what I mean, here is how my medications affect my body’s regulation in different ways:

Amitriptyline: This one has “anticholinergic” properties, meaning it suppresses sweating. Because it stops my body from sweating properly, my body traps heat. It also makes my skin way more sensitive to severe sunburns.

Duloxetine: This one does the exact opposite, it causes excessive sweating and hot flashes. It alters the hypothalamus, making me feel constantly overheated while actively draining my body of fluids and electrolytes.

Stay hydrated, don’t rely on sweat cues (your meds may be preventing you from sweating) slather yourself in SPF and/or only stay in the shade, do not stop taking your meds without consulting a doctor (i know the heatwave is frustrating but you don’t want to be going through withdrawal in a heatwave)

Reminder also that its not just SSRIs, if you take a thyroid medication theres a good chance that makes you heat intolerant too.

Drink lots of water and also electrolytes (Gatorade, eat pickles, etc)
