Since this happened, governments across the world created individual foundation or programs to try and understand, while also potentially aid those affected. Soon Licenses were changes to include species, and eventually Hybrids became a normal part of society. So yes, that's how furries canonically exist- Despite that, this story centers around the larger of these foundations in america, in 2018. It has become common for humans to have small natural mutations, such as gills, fur, scales, feathers, etc. Usually patchy and in small parts. Unmutated humans in 2018 tend to be socially closed off, trying to "preserve natural humanity" (ew speciesism).

Within Florida, placed along the waters of the gulf of Mexico is a highly secured facility that runs under the government funded Anomaly Asset Archive Project (Aka the A.A.A. or A.A.A.P.). The site itself is called Submerse, due to being the only facility built to contain or respond to water anomalies. Its purpose alongside that is to contain high risk and experimental anomalies. Due to this fact, it is also the largest site of sentient anomalies.

Other sites are as follows:

- Outpost, for document storage and low risk/easily contained anomalies, most being inanimate. Site is located in Nevada.

- Solar which holds special case anomolies, deployable Anomalies, and acts as a training ground and tech lab. The site is located in South Dakota.

- Zero which is more an office building but is also home to no risk passive and beneficial anomalies. This site is in Ohio.

The Submerse site gives convicts the chance to having a lighter sentence or being relieved of such if they are willing to participate in research, however the risks of these deals can range from papercuts to bodily or mental mutation to death. Most convicts in the program get their DNA taken so that the Individual can be cloned through [][][][][] to prevent shortage in subjects where cognitive dysfunctions in clones do not cause risk.

Most human biological matter used outside of convict testing is also produced by [][][][][] that has to be regularly removed regardless. This still keeps some (albeit fucked up) semblance of morality when it comes to requiring disposable subjects.

Convict mutation testing is not intentional, more directed at Clones, outside of testing the properties unknown anomalies.

Submerse itself, due to the amount of higher power anomalies, has been found to be anomalous as well. The main halls of the interior infinitely counting up, even though the original construction plans of the site only withheld precisely 100 corridors with split off rooms and chambers. The 101th corridor door is highly secured and due to the nature of the endless space, they put the more dangerous entities inside so that if worse comes to worse, they cannot return to the outside. Personal that aren't authorized with a proper guide or navigation system are guaranteed to get lost without instructions or help from an outside source, which makes priority of identification, removal of unidentified or unauthorized personal, and entrance security incredibly important.

Convict, Prophet, and Historian (oc recreation of endless torment trio dynamic)

Met beyond the cap in which the door numbers keep count (9999), these 3 are in the wild of the facility, where loose anomalies roam free without regulation, causing in its own way, a unique ecosystem.

Convict (COD & Scp inspo)

The first of the 3 to get lost in the endless halls with no hope for return. Once part of the military, but sentenced to life in prison after snapping and causing deaths of several others purposefully, Convict was offered a chance to release the sentence by working for AAAP for 30 years. Their job was alike many others, a guard and escort for other personnel. They had gone past the 101 checkpoint with researchers years before any issues occurred.

One night, at one of the rest points, they got up to trade watch with another guard after sleeping, and when they walked out the door that had once called them to it with familiar voices of coworkers, opened to an empty hall far from the 200's halls. They had been suddenly transported beyond 9999, and turning around, the rest point had become but a mere office. Wandering for 3 years before encountering the Prophet. Convict has Diagnosed PTSD and BPD, is disastrously bisexual, overall androgynous and uses any pronouns. Species are Human (POC American) with Fish. Their neck gills and small patches of scale mutations that they keep hidden do not get affected much by lack of moisture, other than a general discomfort.

If convict was a player character, they'd have a buff on guns but suck at technical stuff.

Prophet (D3rlord & COTL inspo sorta)

Raised in a cult in an alternate timeline where the remaining humans had purged those mutated after the event in 1985, and the only that existed was the bird strain of hybrids, seen as angels. Prophet, as the title suggests, was supposed to be the next prophet for the largest cult in the timeline and inherit the powers to lead the cult. At their day of reception of these powers, something goes wrong when a panic attack is triggered and causes the new powers to go haywire. Prophet ends up falling into a different timeline altogether, shortly meeting Convict in the process. Prophet has "inherited the god" and although he can only hear them, he actively acknowledges them in conversation. Prophet is the youngest of the 3 by 2 and a half years and struggles with cptsd, adhd, and the powers and otherworldly presence often causes issues of psychological terrors unintentionally manifesting subconsciously via the powers. Transmasc Aceflux Latino with some bird hybrid (some tiny body feathers hidden by clothes) that uses He/They.

If prophet was a playable character, they'd be able to block or have advantage over some enemies or events.

Historian (Bioshock and Doors inspo)

Generally normal life with a loving family, they grew up with an interest in history and electricity, eventually taking on some starter jobs as a technician. Being the oldest of the group, they had an interview in a hotel several miles of the Submerse site before mysteriously going missing in a similar manner to Convict, accidently somehow ending up over 9999 doors into the site. They spend a year and a half wandering before encountering Convict and Prophet. They are a Gender Ambigous Gay Asian American who uses all pronouns as well. ("Idgaf abt gender" ahh) no prominent hybrid traits but sometimes has cat behaviors.

If historian was a playable character, they'd be able to open doors without keycards and fix machines without a skillcheck.

OTHERS----------------

Shopkeeper (Prismo inspired)

She has 2 bodies both awake and conscious but mostly entire different memories, the real body is immortal and lost much deeper in Submerge while the other is bound to a room, acting as a cafe owner and shopkeeper. Uses paintings to communicate when her room is near with hands. She studies documents and values them due to her imprisonment and boredom, uses them for currency alongside actual money. hoping that maybe something in the facility would help her locate her real body or be free of her curse. Transfem Gray-ace Lesbian German in her 90's (though she looks like she's 65ish). Audhd flavored but all in a way that's not inherently noticeable. Grandma/weird aunt vibes.

The Cafe acts as a safe spot from anomalies and is sometimes off the main path, othertimes directly part of it. It always has food, working lights, and working bathrooms, which the trio often rely on since hey, where else are you going to find that in these circumstances.

The Virus

Polybious and glados potato inspired, gives Karen from SpongeBob vibes sorta

Apathetic to the trio but cares a lot for the shopkeeper, having once been human herself before becoming part of a program. She makes puzzles harder or locks doors out of spite and pure self entertainment. Older sister dynamic for Shopkeeper and is working with her to find the location of her body before something bad happens.

"Lost Gods"

Looking in the wrong mirrors can cause a figure to appear, usually looking simular in the boarder of the mirror in clothing and Era. Ultimately harmless and these figures dissappear after a day. They whisper insecurities to the host and encourage destructive behaviors.

The Amalgum

(Rush type entity)

Large long mass of arms, eyes and faces that barrel through the halls at high speeds, simular in lenght to a 2-car bus. Indicators to get off the main path are ground shaking and sounds of rapid thumping. This mass is a part of the foundations [][][][][][] that got loose, a mass of failed replicas, failed bodies, failed genetics, the brains connected together as one, all feeling nothing but pain, anger and hunger. Could easily swallow anyone whole if they are in its way.

Aspects of Nightmare

Created from Prophet unintentionally

- Judgement must not be acknowledged (do not look at the eye/eye entity)

- Grief must be acknowledged (look at shadow figure, follows till end of a room, weeping angel esk)

- Anger (seeks out players. Minigames rahhh!!!!)

- Desire (Room has a timer that needs to escape by, an yes they are locked in :> ['desire' like in the "wanting to get out"])

- Greed (weird creature that hides in drawers and takes a single research from trio, ultimately harmless just startling)

The Hound

Silent ghostly creature that hunts in the dark, but hates attention, listen for growling in the dark and look around the floor for it and stare until it runs off. Resembles a dead cainine. (Bites don't immediately kill)

Flicker

Drawn in by sound, the lights and electronics will start making loud humming and crackling noises, then the lights will flicker/speakers start popping. Electricity gathers in the center of the room to form a figure, in which will briefly look for anyone before dissapearing. (Death by electrocution if found)

Animation reanimator

A projector setup in where anything that is projected long enough, becomes real.
