ā” The Scindapsus PictusĀ
I made a post similar to this one around 8 months ago but I figured iād refresh it since I now own both these varieties and know a little bit more about them :) So I notice a lot of mislabels around shops & the internet & collectors and hopefully this simplifies things if youāre in the market for a specific plant or if youāre looking to identify your own!Ā
ā” Common misconception: neither of these plants are a Philodendron or an Epipremnum. Many, many sites & sellers will label these plants āSilver Philodendronā,Ā āSatin Pothosā, orĀ āSilk Pothos.ā Highly misleading. Both are Scindapsus which is itās own category.Ā
ā” Scindapsus & Epipremnum are EXTREMELY similar genus! Super commonly mistaken for one another so donāt feel bad if you ever confuse the two :)Ā
ā” (Pictured top left) Scindapsus PictusĀ āArgyraeusā Classified by: -Small flat leaves -Vibrant green -Small sporadic patches of silver variegationĀ
ā” (Pictured top right) Scindapsus PictusĀ āExoticaā Classified by: -Large leaves -Dark rich green -Silver variegation covering a majority of the leaf
ā” If your plant does not fit into one of these two categories it could be aĀ āSilvery Annā which is nearly like a hybrid between the two. The leaves tend to be more medium in size (somewhere between the Argyraeus & Exotica) and it has very vibrant green leaves with a ton of variegation!
ā” Hopefully this was helpful xx I personally find it super fun to go around and try to spot the differences in each out and about while plant shopping!
I snipped this leaf off my variegated Maranta by accident and I had to take this picture to commemorate its beautyšæā£ļø

new āpink allusionā syngonium baby! welcoming spring and its rainy foggy weather with trips to greenhouses and garden centersĀ Ā
Iāve had this Crassula Rupestris for around 8 months and it has grown so tall and bushy from the three small branches it had when I bought it. They are so easy to propagate and take care of, especially for someone who struggles seemingly endlessly with succulents. I also have found they are pretty reasonably priced at most places which sell plants! please consider picking one up if you have the resources to grow them <3 they might be common but theyāre so beautiful and easy to love!

I spontaneously invested in a variegated calathea maranta while at my local greenhouse picking up a plant for my grandma (sheās almost 90 and still maintains her own little apartment jungleĀ ā”) and I have realized that I have hadĀ much better luck with marantas than literally any other calathea. I mean both of my lancifolias died within a week of me owning them! Honestly even my white fusion lasted longer than any of my lancifolias!! does anyone else feel the same way??
I have no idea why I donāt see a lot of these around (although I have heard they are rare). This Euphorbia LacteaĀ āWhite Ghostā is so stunning! It has completely rejuvenated my interest in cactus.Ā
I find it so hard getting paid and not buying a plant and I have stumbled upon a rooted Euphorbia Lactea White Ghost. It has been in my cart for a solid week and itās been the only thing I have been thinking about, anyone else think this is a good buy??Ā
considering buying myself a calathea ornata for valentines day. also considering not doing that because i get way too excited about them and the minute i make a mistake they throw a tantrum and I am left heartbroken lol happy valentines day !! xo
sending good vibes to my poor littleĀ Tradescantia Fluminensis which is very unfortunately headed my way in the mail during a blizzard :(

New England winters are harsh on our local greenhouses; but with spring approaching it appears thingās are bouncing backĀ ā”
