Never Blasting Off

            Events are only good or bad when you see them that way.

Reynold was just working on his usual scientist business when he paused at the phone. He didn’t look at the number, he just answered it and placed the holocastor on his shoulder-still working.

The blonde’s shoulders shot up at the hug. At first his arms went out but the more he was comfortable, his arms relaxed and finally hugged Barnes back, his head over his shoulder. Reynold blushed, “I-I am, yeah-! I’m glad you’re here too!” 

..That was dumb. Let’s try again, Reynold said to himself.

“But yes-! Make yourself at home, there’s plenty of snacks a-and..I’ll be back here to hang out after I shower. Sorry for the wait, but really make yourself comfortable. A-and now that King is off duty he won’t attack..” 

His green eyes shot up to his Arbok and hissed, “Right?”

King flicked his tail, rolled his eyes, and replied, “Bokkk,” 

He’s totally a doctor guys.

He covered his mouth to try and stifle his chuckling at Rey’s large bite. He took another small bite.

…Then he’d get a free meal~

Reynold headed home as quickly as possible. Barnes was coming! And he was so distracted that he forgot that King was home..always guarding. It didn’t occur to him until he unlocked his apartment door and spotted the two. Still. And looking up at each other. 

“King!” He at first started strictly but then turned to Barnes and blushed, “B-Barnes-!”

Chills ran up Rey’s spine immediately as he started to get ready and head out. 

He took a deep breathe. Maybe..raising an egg wouldn’t be so ad though? From the sound of it, perhaps it wouldn’t be so hard? 

Barnaby mirrored Rey when their food came. Once they both got their food, he started eating.

Willow cooed and once eating some of her applesauce, she grinned, cooing and clapping.

“I know this one’s a Fairy though..those pretty sharp teeth coming in, huuuhh? Ready? Let’s go for another, can you say yes?”

“Yyyyy…aaa…?” Willow opened her mouth, ready. 

“O-ohh..I see. That makes sense. You are a skilled Rocket soldier..I’d expect nothing less, then.” Reynold observed, slightly swooning, “I bet you’re strong and good at fighting..along with your Pokemon, hmm?” 

Barnaby couldn’t help to start laughing. “R-rey. Ten year olds raise pokemon from eggs. I don’t think you’re giving yourself enough credit! I doubt it’d turn into a bad pokemon because you’re not good with children. But yeah, the day care is a decent alternative~” 

“O-oh Willow-no..no..like this..see?” Baxter started to mimic eating the apple sauce, his tongue out, and making funny faces.

The platinum-haired girl chuckle and laughed, which..made the applesace go out of her mouth.

“Hehe, silly~ You’ve got such a funny faaace~” The blonde grinned, laughing with her. He glanced at Wyatt, smiling still and slowly scooping up more applesauce and tried feeding her again, “Laugh..but with mouth closed. You love this stuff. Now..aaahh..” He, too opened his mouth..and with that Willow did too. She laughed but planced her hands on her mouth.

“Ah, Wyatt,”Barnaby sighed,”can I have the spoon back?” The kid just gnawed on it some in response, applesauce coming out around the spoon. Barnaby made a face, and waited until Wyatt had his mouth open, before taking the spoon back.

“The spoon’s not even the yummy part~”Barnaby chuckled, and tried again. Wyatt swallowed the applesauce, but still didn’t let go of the spoon. He wanted to eat that too! Barnaby got the spoon back when Wyatt laughed at his dad.

HE WAS COMING OVER. BARNES WAS COMING OVER?! Rey’s hand shook, but he finished and let out a small squeak, “O-of course, I don’t mind. You can come anytime. I-I just..” 

“Ok~ I can’t wait to see you either! Ta~”With that he hung up, and went to his closet. He quickly picked out a nice blue button down, and black slacks. He decided to leave his signature cravat behind.

He then grabbed his chocolates, flowers, a wrapped box containing a mini death star, and his cane, and left for the address he was given. 

He stood outside of the door debating on going in or not. On one hand, it was rude to barge in without being let in, especially since it was his first time over. On the other hand he was told where the key was. That was kind of like being let in, right? And when else would he have a chance to snoop without Rey knowing?
