I'm so excited to share this one with you all. As you can see I'm clearly hooked on these little canvases / tiny art. I didn't use a sketch this time either and I really would have benefitted from one, so it still isn't quite what I wanted… But I'm learning :)

Something a little different. I've been meaning to post more but I've had trouble... I have a lot of digital work but I'm trying to limit the amount of times I post digital until I get glaze. Then I have traditional, but I don't have good photos. Also, I have often been really busy at good times to post. I know that the time of day makes a big difference with how much traction your stuff gets. So I have plenty of art to share, I just have a lot working against me rn.

Anyway this one kept me up super late alongside another one that I want to post later this week, which will be a pic of an OC I haven't introduced yet :)

I wasn't a huge fan of how this one turned out but I figured I might as well post it anyway. I'm still getting the hang of square compositions, and I think I would benefit from working with a sketch in the future, since I'm wayy out of my comfort zone here. The subject matter, the medium, the canvas, the composition, it's all new to me.

Blackmail

I guess I should share some context... I swear I have more OCs than just Arthur ok lol he just lends himself well to the kind of art I like to draw. so much darkness. I messed up his face so I just rolled with it and made him spooky

But he's kind of trapped in a pact, and while I can't share too much about that because I would like to make this into a legit story at some point, it sort of sends him into a downward spiral. There's a lot of politics in my story as I envision it, not to be preachy but because I find it interesting.

So he gets radicalized politically and becomes severely depressed, which kind of leads him to believe the worst things possible. If you've ever been depressed, you know how susceptible you are to believing anything that tells you the world is as bad as you think it is. Most of my drawings of him are related to this. Plus he's angry at the world and everyone else.

Thing is, he tends to hide this from everyone, he likes to troll people kinda and generally puts on this facade of being untouchable, so no one really seems to notice him spiralling.

drawing tip?

sorry for the crappy drawing/picture (no sketch) but i found out paint markers work better than ink at being ink. It looks pitch black... Cleanest look ive ever gotten traditionally.

if you love contrast, i think paint markers are just better. Posca even makes black brush pens, though I didn't have one when I made this. I didn't have to boost the contrast or anything like that! just grabbed a photo and uploaded it.

Jack-o-Lantern on a Tiny Canvas

This is a bit different from my usual style but right now i'm hooked on mini canvases with paint pens. Having to work with a square canvas is honestly more challenging than their small size - it's so much harder to do anything pleasing regarding composition with a square, so I have to keep it simple.
