It had been a month. One entire month Peter had not only lost his 3rd father figure, but also the love of his life. It hurt him to look anywhere as despite the Avengers compound having been completely wrecked due to the battle, the bits where you had spruced up greenery or grown trees or made small ponds around the surrounding area had completely disappeared.

After the avengers were rehabilitated to another minor compound, Peter would come there to train for hours and hours. Happy would have to tell Peter to stop and go home because he would have school the next day and it was 4am. Your presence had affected everyone significantly and now without you, the world did seem a little darker.

One late Friday night, Peter’s tired eyes made their way to the compound. Ready to talk to Karen for hours as he pushed himself to the limit. He should’ve done more. He should’ve helped you. Every single time he tried to sleep he couldn’t help but see your lifeless body as he tried his best to keep you here.

So as Peter was ready for the automatic doors to open to the training room, he was surprised to find it shut. This minor inconvenience not playing to how he wanted his night to go. He decided to head upstairs to hopefully unlocking it.

“Bruce, Bucky? Anyone?” Peter shouted out into the building, but nothing came of it. As he headed up to the main quarters, he saw a little note left upon the table. As Peter approached the table, a pang in his heart was forever present as he picked up the note. It had your address on it.

‘Y/N wouldn’t want you to cry over her kid. We all love you. Take a visit. – The Avengers’

Peter’s eyes began to sting with tears as he looked at the table again. There were your keys; familiar keychains strung upon it, including a Spider-man one and another with your superhero trademark upon it also. This was it, Peter stared at those keys for what felt like hours but was most likely about 10 minutes. Until he finally decided to bite the bullet. He grabbed them and pulled his mask over his face.

Peter swung through the streets, having KAREN help him with the navigation. When he arrived at your apartment door, Peter couldn’t help but just stare again.

“Peter? Why aren’t you heading in?” KAREN asked him as she too could only stare at your door. Your last name in metallic letters beneath the door number.

“I-I don’t know Karen. It-It’s like I can’t move.” Peter clenched his jaw as he tried to not cry with his mask on, but it was true. He felt like his entire body was frozen in this one spot and would be forever.

“I can help you with that Peter if you-“ KAREN starts to use her technology to move Peter’s hand to the lock, but Peter tries with all his might to fight back.

“Karen don’t.” Peter warned, a ferocity he hadn’t shown to anyone but the punching bags in the Avengers compound.

“I’m sorry Peter. I overstepped my mark.” KAREN replies, but as she does; Peter mumbles an ‘it’s okay’ and begins to unlock the door.

When the door opens he can’t help being overwhelmed by the smell of you. He lets his mask flutter away and as the smell fully hits his face, he shuts the door and just cries. Cries that he didn’t do more, cries that he wished that he was never dusted, cries that Mr. Stark wasn’t here to help him cope.

When Peter finally looked around the living room it broke his heart. Back at the Avengers compound you’d always have tons of plants; on every desk in every room. But due to recent neglect they weren’t looking in good shape. To start Peter’s journey, he thought the best thing to ease him into it was to grab the small watering can you had beside one of your bigger plants, fill it up and begin to water them. The small maintenance still made him cry as it made him remember you effortlessly doing it with your powers, but he had to salvage what life there was left of you.

Peter’s last stop was arguably the hardest. Your bedroom. And even though he thought he was finished crying; when he saw the familiar shape of how you slept still there in your bedsheets and your phone still charging on the bedside table; he felt himself tensing up. As he pressed the home button on your phone it was flooded with notifications of regular things. But the most recent ones were of Peter texting you; wishing that you were there.

He gives a small gulp and reaches into his spidey suit for his phone, calling your number. He smiled at the dorky photo of him you used as his contact photo, letting it fully ring out before a familiar message played.

‘Hi! It’s Y/N, sorry I didn’t pick up but leave a message after the beep, BEEEEP!”

Peter choked out a small sob at hearing your voice before promptly hanging up, as if you’d pick it up and hear his voicemail and he’d be embarrassed by it. Yet that would never happen.

“Peter, there seems to be something on her desk.” KAREN points out, allowing Peter to be distracted from the sombre situation he had put himself in. A blue hologram light pours out the suit and to a large open book. There were others similar looking stacked beside it, and as Peter moved the pen away; he realised it was a diary.

‘Day 1,835

Today’s the day we’re going to try and pull off this ‘Time Heist’ thing, and I can’t express how much I hope it’ll work. God I miss my friends… but I God I miss my dumb idiot Peter Parker’

Peter smiles as he sees his name, wiping away his tears as to not smudge the ink of his pen.

‘If Peter comes back, I don’t know what I’ll do with him. I’ll probably never let him go. I’ll never let him see the diaries I’ve kept for 5 years. I’ll name my saga ‘5 years crying over Peter Parker’. I would never want Peter to do that over me.’

Peter squeezed his eyes shut. Knowing exactly that was what he was doing now.

‘I’m so proud of everyone, we’ve done so much and we’re going to do so much. I don’t want to get my hopes up too much, but I can’t wait to see Peter.

Goodnight Peter Parker, I’ll see you tomorrow.

At your final closing statement, Peter uses his gloved hand to stop a sob escaping.

“Peter?” KAREN’s voice is soft.

“Yes- K-Karen?” He sniffs, trying to compose himself; even if it’s just an AI

“You should listen to her.” She starts, letting Peter process the information. “But I think you should also take her plants back to yours and Aunt May’s apartment. Bring a little of Y/N’s life to yours.”

Being dragged to the small concert wasn’t really how you’d anticipated your night to go, but your friends begged you and you didn’t want to be the spoil sport of the group. The place the band were playing was more of a function suite, but it was packed. Where tables would sit on the carpeted area and a jazz group would sit on the elevated stage and a small bit off wooden ground for people to dance on. But tonight, it was empty apart from the people who anxiously waited for the Brooklyn band to head up on stage.

Your friends and you squeezed and pushed to the front. The chatter changed to excited shouts and woops, familiar sounds of choppy guitar and a heavy drum kit which enticed excitement through your veins. Just as your friends and you began to dance to the bands opening instrumental, a rather attractive man arrived on stage. As he headed to the mic right in front of you on the stage; you couldn’t help but be encapsulated by the aura this man gave off.

“Enjoy yourselves.” He said with a slight smirk. Dropping a cigarette he just took a puff of onto the floor. Putting it out completely with his shoe.

They were mainly a cover band, singing hit after hit. Sometimes when you were pushed back you’d force your way back to the front. Just wanting to gawk in awe at the illustrious main singer, at some points you’d catch his eye. You’d make sure to move your body in a way that moved to his words and how he sang certain words.

“I think we’re gonna slow it down a bit ladies’ and gents.” The lead singer’s eyes catch yours for longer than they had the entire set. You almost felt like; he was slowing it down for you.

As he begun singing ‘Dreams’ by Fleetwood Mac, he barely took his eyes off you. Friends of yours were whispering in your ears about it as if you hadn’t noticed it. You’d only break the eye contact as to feel the music as you danced in the crowd. Letting his eyes fully soak you up, almost as if he was a direct spotlight on you. Once the song finished, he laid one last wink in your direction before continuing with your set. God, you hoped that wasn’t a one-time thing.

After a few more songs they made an effort to say their final goodbye.

“Thank you everyone for coming out tonight. We are Bucky and the Preachers, and we’ll see you again soon.” A roar of shouts and hoorah was made towards the band.

“They were amazing! And the singer had a thing for you Y/N.” One of your friends remarked, jabbing at your side. You shoved them off but you couldn’t get the singer’s eyes out your head.

As your small band of friends headed over to the bar for a few drinks, you were tapped on the shoulder, by none other than the singer.

“Hey, saw you in the crowd. Perhaps you’d like to come and sit with me backstage?” he was still caked in sweat from his enthusiastic set, just as you were about to decline as you couldn’t leave your friends. One of them answered for you.

“She’d love to.” Giving you a slight push, the singer smiled, gave a nod of thanks to your friends and waved for you to follow him to a small dressing room area. For a small band; it was almost luxury. But this bar was the type of place to have things like that.

“So, you’re Bucky… I’d presume.” You state, your eyes darting all over as you take in the room.

“That’s me, but do you have a name babydoll?” He picks up a cigarette that was wasting away on an ash tray. Taking one last puff before stubbing it out. You gulp.

“Y/N.” You spit out, he smirks.

“Y/N…” The name sounds so heavenly rolling off his tongue, it sends shivers down your spine. “Couldn’t help but notice how your body moved to me singing in that crowd tonight.

His strides to you are long and dominant and you can’t help but grip onto his dressing table for support because he’s making your knees weak.

“It was…” You rack your brain for a word as he sets himself just in front of you.

“Never mind about me doll. You were fuckin’ beautiful out there tonight.” He smirks, his words made your breath hitch and look to him. He looked at you with such wonder and amazement; almost how you were looking at him just minutes before on stage.

Just at the right time, you both lean in to kiss one another and something just feels right. His hands are immediately upon your waits, pushing you up on the dressing table fully. You let your hands run through his medium length hair; but you’re both dying to rip each other’s clothes off. He takes care of his denim jacket swiftly. You break apart from him briefly; letting your eyes gaze upon his half-buttoned shirt. Letting you gaze upon his slightly hairy exposed chest.

Your hands made quick work with opening the rest, his chest slick with sweat. His post-show adrenaline not worn off yet. Bucky returned the favour by making quick work of your clothes too; a small pinafore and a turtleneck underneath. He let in a little hissed breath looking at your nearly exposed body.

“Fuck babydoll, you don’t know what you’re doing to me.” Bucky’s voice was low and gravelly, his muscles tense as you grab them and he lets his groin rub against you while he’s in between your legs

“Bucky please don’t tease me.” You whine, you see the look of accomplishment wash over his face and he holds your neck tightly, squeezing as he forces you to look at him.

“I’ll do what I fuckin’ like to you.” It’s almost a threat but it sends chills down your spine and you can’t help but smile. “Take them off slut.”

He gestures to his pants and you start to slowly take off his belt and his jeans. He tugs at your hair to make you look at him once more.

“The longer you take the longer it is for you too babydoll.” He almost growls. Bucky steps out of his pants and starts to fiddle with the clips at your bra. As soon as it’s off he begins to kiss and tug at your nipples, sending you off.

“Daddy please…” You whine, not even meaning for it to come out of your mouth. Bucky stops at hearing your exclamation.

“What’d you say?” His eyes are dark, and you can’t tell if it’s from anger or pure lust that he’s feeling for you. You hoped it was the latter as you could see the large tent that had formed in his boxer shorts and you were practically yearning for him to be inside of you.

“I’m sorry- I won’t say it if you don’t want me to.” You gulp looking down slightly, but Bucky just chuckles at the innocent look on your face.

Bucky pulls you by your waist to the end of the table, angling you slightly as the head of his cock rubs your folds.

“I’ll see you again.” Steve smiled, nodding for Bruce to activate the machine. He was gone in a flash and James’ excited squeal at his sudden disappearance was music to your ears. But after Bruce’s countdown, Steve didn’t come back. Your heart sank immediately.

“Bruce? Bruce come on why isn’t he here?” You frantically say, putting James down to let him run about in case you shook so much that you’d drop him.

“I don’t know- he hasn’t activated his teleporter.” Bruce’s fingers pressing buttons desperately just stressed you out more, until Bucky spoke up.

“There’s no need.” Bucky announced, pointing to a figure on a bench sitting a little a ways away. You gulp, telling James to ‘go stay with uncle Bruce’ before striding over to the bench.

You could tell from your first glance that it was Steve, but it wasn’t your Steve. He ws older, much older.

“Steve?” You hesitantly ask, not wanting what you were seeing to be true.

“Hi Y/N.” His voice was deeper as he was older, but that same familiar smirk still played on his lips. “I told you I’d see you again.”

Tears stung your eyes as they darted about his face. Trying to figure out the reasoning for him to stay behind.

“Peggy…” You whisper, Steve nods; not looking at you. You shake your head, biting your lips and laughter almost escapes your lips. But nothing is funny. You’re just in a wave of mixed emotions and you don’t know what to feel.

“I knew that, staying here wasn’t how I was meant to go.” Steve starts, you’re silent but the tears keep running down your face. “Had to have my dance with my girl, which meant I couldn’t steal Bucky’s.”

“I did love you Y/N. God I do, but we weren’t meant to be…us.” He finds it hard trying to figure out what to say; though you have a feeling that he’s thought about this day for a long time.

“Steve do you know what the problem is?” You muster up some courage to speak, and Steve finally looks at you. “Is that I’m happy you found your happy ending, but… James.”

Steve takes a long breath and he breaks the eye contact, but your tear gaze burns into him as you demand an answer.

“As I said.” He gulps, you bite your lip. “I couldn’t take that life… from Bucky.”

You nod, this was… for the best. Steve and you came together in time where you were desperate for others and James did keep you two together. Steve finally had the chance to get the one selfish thing he’s ever wanted.

“Goodbye Steve.”

“Goodbye Y/N.”

As Sam stepped over to speak to this ‘new Steve’, you find yourself looking at the ground until you try to look for James. To your surprise he couldn’t be seen with Bruce, but with Bucky. James’ excited little run as Bucky chased after him, exclaiming ‘I’m gonna get ya!’

You stood back and smiled from the treeline, watching as James giggled and protested against the fact that he could never catch him. Yet when he did, James couldn’t stop but be amazed by Bucky’s arm.

“Why’s it all colourful?” James asked, his finger running over the bumps in the metal until he gets all the way to Bucky’s fingertips.

“Well something very bad happened to my arm, so I got given a new one.” Bucky says as to not scare him in any way. James just giggles as he realises that when he taps on it, it makes a funny metal sound.

“I want one too!” James expresses with a little pout; Bucky just chuckles and sets the little boy down.

“Well maybe when you’re older you can have a whole suit of it. Just like Uncle Tony did.” Bucky’s smile is bittersweet, it makes you smile as you walk over to the two.

“My daddy has a cool suit too.” James adds, you see Bucky’s posture become notably tighter. Not in anger but in sadness.

“Actually James-y. This man right here is your daddy.” You smile a little, the lie that would have to be true. You bend down and kneel at James’ level as you speak to him. “Steve was just filling in while Bucky was away.”

You turn to look at Bucky with hopeful eyes, you hold his metallic hand hesitantly.

“If you’ll have us.” You look up at him, wishing that he had been here all this time. Bucky truly was the man you loved and cherished. With only a short pause, Bucky held your hand tighter and knelt down with both James and you.

Learning how to be a family again.

“Y/N? Steve?” Bucky’s voice almost whispered, as the two of you locked your eyes upon him, all you could see was him turn to ash. You rush to the ground, picking up what’s left as if putting them back together would bring your boyfriend back to you. But it didn’t.

“Bucky please.” You sob, the ashes pooling in your palms as they mixed with your tears. Steve joined you kneeling, before placing a hand on your shoulder. Mourning your loss together.

The weeks went by long and you thought all was lost when Tony wasn’t found but when he came back and was safe on Earth after the snap, the plan to stop Thanos was fully kick started. You were so enraged that your love had been taken away from you, everyone was in some way. But after the short-lived fight and eventual killing of Thanos, in everyone’s mind: you were defeated.

The return to Earth was sullen, quiet and the air hung thick over everyone’s confused stare. You were the good guys. You couldn’t lose. But you did.

The nightmares didn’t start until after you had all come to terms with the fact that they weren’t coming back. You jolt awake at the vision of seeing everyone fade away again, yourself included. Your screams leaving you in a colder sweat than you already were.

“Y/N… are you okay?” Steve jogs in through your bedroom door. You try to compose yourself but your hair sticks to your face and you’re pale as a sheet.

“I’m fine.” You croak out, your scream being so loud and abrupt it hurt your throat.

“Nightmares?” Steve quietly asks, you morosely nod your head. “I get them too,”

As Steve turns to go, a thought pops into your head. Seeing no downside from your already declining mental health you ask anyway.

“Steve?” He turns to look at you in your bedroom doorframe. “Will you stay with me?”

A glimmer of confusion flickers over Steve’s face, but he ultimately accepts. You were and had been friends over many years and you had both lost Bucky. Arguably the worst thing that the both of you lost to the snap. Steve slips off his cotton robe and lays it on one of your end tables. He’s wearing a tight SHEILD shirt and a pair of lose fitting boxer shorts. It’s not inappropriate but it’s more than you’ve ever seen of Steve. The two of you aren’t intimate but both benefit greatly from just the other being there.

That’s how it went for a year, either of you had a nightmare then one of you would hear the other and spend the night in their room. Every time neither one of you would have nightmares when with the other, but little by little, you got closer to one another. It started off small as you waking up on Steve’s arm or even just facing one another, fore arms slightly touching. But when the nightmares got bad as time went on; Steve would embrace you so tightly that it felt like nothing would break through.

It was all fine until that one night. It was hot and that meant restless sleep for you in Steve’s embrace and under covers too. You couldn’t stop wriggling and wriggling until you felt something hard up against your back. As soon as you felt…him, you immediately tried to pry yourself out of his hug hoping that he was still asleep. Yet, as you turn around to face him, you find out that he is more than awake. Almost as if he wanted more, and with how excited the action had made you; you were happy to oblige.

Steve was the first to move, his hand on your face to bring you closer to him on your bed. As your lips locked you felt a wave of clarity and lust that you hadn’t felt in a long time. Steve’s kisses were a little sloppier than Bucky’s, but still full of passion. But now wasn’t the time to be thinking of Bucky, especially since Steve was slipping your nightwear off. Your hands running beneath his shirt and sliding his clothes off too. Before you even knew it he was on top of you, pushing himself inside with quiet moans as not to let anyone know of this secret. You’d not felt this whole in so long, moaning Steve’s name in hushed breaths as you gripped the back of his neck. Begging for that close intimacy you’d shared but closer than ever before.

“Oh my god.” Steve couldn’t help but groan into your ear. It was everything you needed and wanted.

What the two of you didn’t know was that 9 months later, your little baby boy would be brought into this world. James Rogers, named after Bucky. And for four years James had the best upbringing, Tony helped Steve and you find a house for the three of you and play dates with Morgan were a must. The two were practically brother and sister and you, Steve, Pepper and Tony were glad that situations were put aside so your kids could have each other as a friend.

You were happy with this life, despite all your hardships, you were finally moving on. That was until Scott came along with the plans to bring everyone back. God you couldn’t begin to explain how much you missed your friends but… Bucky.

So ensuing the final battle, when you were fighting for your lives and others’ lives… you couldn’t be happier to hear a quiet:

“On your left.”

Upon using your skills that you had learned from your many years in SHIELD proved surprisingly well in the battle against aliens. But when you overstepped your mark and were nearly speared through the chest; you were glad to see Steve using Mjolnir to save you from instant doom. As the monster fell to the ground you ran over to Steve, pressing a kiss to his lip.

“We’ll make it home.” You say, “For James.”

You’ve seen many years throughout your hundreds of years of life. But one thing you didn’t want to see was your entire planet culled by a one ship. You pushed around rubble as you regained consciousness, burning your hands on the scrapped metal of the ship. You choke breathless sobs as you notice the bodies of your friends, you barely make any noise as you pull yourself out from the chunk of ship you were pinned under. As your vision becomes less blurred and you try to regain your strength, you notice Thor and… Loki! You thank the heavens for seeing your lover and his brother still alive: despite being in a small predicament.

You drag yourself over, the large titan and his followers not having noticed you within the flood of corpses while being in conversation with the two brothers. You notice a piece of metal skeleton that once held the ship up high was being held precariously by one thick wire. One good shot would send it down and onto the attackers, missing Thor and Loki. You reach and take hold of an Asgardian spear, trying not to let the metal drag across the floor for fear it would make a noise. As you position yourself on your back, you take the mighty throw and it snaps the cable and the metal skeleton comes crashing down.

Loki takes notice of you and you see every ounce of him light up. A desperate cling of hope in all that seems lost. As it crashes upon the titan Loki speeds his way over at the short moment they have.

“My love.. you’re alive!” Loki’s hands flutter about your body, trying to see or fix any cuts or bruising that would be particularly fatal.

“Barely.” You smile. He helps you stand up, your once proud Asgardian armour now dented and filthy but still usable for a fight if it came to it.  You swing your arms outwards, double wielding swords as you try your best to attack the followers, cutting and scraping them, even severing one of their limbs at one point. All in the hope that extracting the revenge will bring your people back.

Just as you begin to raise your swords to deliver a killing blow on one of the followers, you’re flung back hitting the remnants of the ship, knocking you breathless.

“A fine warrior this one.” The titan announces, brushing himself off as if the metal falling on him was merely a bit of fluff on his shirt. “But how tough is she really?”

You lift your head to meet his gaze and he presses his golden gauntlet to your head. You feel nothing but the coolness of the metal before you feel everything. The power stone surging hot energy feeling as if it was ripping every molecule inside of you apart.

“Tell me where the stone is little one.” He chuckles, you spit blood as you try to speak, your whole body shaking furiously.

“We… don’t have…” You scream more as he increases the pain from the stone to your whole body. “Your STONE!”

“No!” Loki screams, unable to bear hearing your voice in such terror and see your veins illuminated with the purple haze of the stone. “I’ll give you what you want.”

Loki flicks his wrist graciously and the tesseract appears just like a piece of his trickster magic. The titan releases the pain from your head and walks over to Loki.

“Loki…no!” You whisper, seeing the look of defeat and regret in his eyes as he looks to you. He knows this is his fault. You can hear Thor’s screams, his head now gripped by Thanos’ free hand.

“I assure you both, my love and my brother. The sun will shine on us again.” Loki gulps before handing it to him. Thanos allows Thor’s defeated body to fall to the ground as he adds the space stone to his growing collection.

“NO!” You scream, mustering every single piece of effort you had left to stand and chuck your swords into his legs, letting Thanos fall to his knees. He chuckles at your attempt.

“I will stand. And I will bleed.” You slowly get to your feet; you know this is it. “For Asgard, for Thor… for Loki.”

Thanos’ footsteps thunder in your ears, no one knows what to do. He is too powerful. For anyone to stop.

“I will bear any pain you bestow upon them or die any death. I’d shatter myself until my bones turn to dust.” He gets closer, until he stands before you. You look him directly in the eye as he places his gauntlet against your head. “I would.”

You lock eyes with Loki and the whole world is in slow motion. You see Loki’s dagger fall from his sleeve into his hand. Every ounce of anger he’s ever had is spilling out of him.

“I do.”

With your last words, the whole world quickens again. Your screams are worse than anyone upon the ship has ever heard as Thanos boils your blood, tears your muscles apart until you scream no more. You fall limp and Loki jumps and begins to stab Thanos in the neck.

He throws him off like he was a bug bothering him. With his gloved hand, he picks up Loki by the neck.

“You… will never be… a god.” Loki splutters out, Thor struggles within his bonds, not wishing to lose more than he already has.

Loki’s neck snaps and Thanos drops his body next to yours. The way he lands it almost looks like two of you are sleeping. Side by side. Enjoying one another in a brief embrace.
