I created a Userstyle for the Chrome/Firefox Stylus Extension that reverts the new dashboard to the old look!
A fix for the new Tumblr dashboard! If you don't want the sticky header you can remove the labelled script at the top of the css below /* St
You need to have Stylus installed. So if you don't have it:
Install the Stylus Firefox Addon or the Manifest V2 Chrome Extension (You can install Chrome Extensions on Edge as well)
Once it's installed into Firefox/Chrome/Edge you can proceed with adding this style or any other.
To add the style (Stylus), follow the instructions:
Go to this link: https://userstyles.world/style/11286/old-tumblr-dashboard-userstyle (If it says 'style not found' then the Userstyle.world server is just down, try again in an hour)
Click on "install".
Style will open a tag with it and in the left side you'll have a button that says "install style", click there.

I highly recommend you switch to Firefox for continued use of good extensions! Stylus does not have a V3 update yet; however, the tamermonkey script works just as good.

v19.03: I have added the ability to customise the icons and text in the footer! This can be different between the dashboard and post-view - if you have any issues with this, shoot me a message using the I have a problem template.

v20.16: Mostly fixed! Still a lot of smaller things to work through but it looks about as good as it did before the update!
V21.0: fixed timestamps on dashboard
To customise the colour, enter the Configure menu as seen in the images below - If you are using the OLD / default icons, ignore any option that says "Using Old Icons". Set every other option to the same colour OR customise them.
If you are using NEW icons (i.e, If you set "Old Replies Icon 1; New") change all options that have it to 'Using New Icons' and then set every other option to the same colour OR customise them.
Options with "PostView" refer to viewing a post by clicking on its header or going to its own URL. If your theme has the same background on the dash and viewing a post just set these to the same colour as the other options!
You can also fix the positioning of the Communities button and subnav from this menu as well - it should remember your settings when you update!
Tumblr Post Width & More (OTD+ Userstyle) Is now available!!
OTD+ is an add on for Old Tumblr dashboard that you can use to edit the Post Width, Content Positioning & More - It must be used with Old Tumblr Dashboard installed as well on the latest update! This style might be merged with OTD in the future.

Known issues:
Only two columns in Masonry view. Semi-Unfixable, Tumblr creates columns based on monitor size, if I try adding another column (because it doesn't exist) it just perpetually loads on screen.
Semi-fix: Zoom out in chrome/firefox and it adds more columns, you may need to change the font size of the page though
Search bar doesn't appear on some pages (like viewing a post), this is because Tumblr removed the search bar on those pages completely. Unfixable but not a big deal
Tumblr has ONCE AGAIN CHANGED THE ACCOUNTS MENU. The menus are now shorter and have less information on them. This is unfortunately permanent. I do not see any way to fix this. Unfixable.
If you want people's icons to stay fixed in place, instead of scrolling with the dashboard change this in Stylus;

Brought back SOME of the icons for Tumblrs latest update - Unfortunately, this does not bring back user icons for Reblogged posts! Make sure to yell at Tumblr for removing the icons as well as the horrible dashboard update here!

UPDATE2 11/04/2024: SO We mighhtttt have overrun their servers. ๐ I'm getting a 500 Internal Server Error every time I try to fix it or upload it as a new style - the massive influx of people downloading the userstyle was probably too much. The Tampermonkey backup on Greasyfork works just fine though! Probably easier for a lot of people migrating anyway!
UPDATE 11/04/2024:: My code has broken on Userstyles.world, (it is now fixed as of 12/04/24) until this is fixed I have created a Tampermonkey Backup Version of the Userstyle so feel free to use this version if you've broken yours!

Is it fixable: Yes, however, GOD THIS IS GONNA TAKE FOREVER. I'm manually finding every single change
v20.14~16: Working through the changes! Fixed up some menus and some of the replies sections - some obvious issues (icons) will be fixed when I get to that part of the code

I am still on break but I couldn't fix the new notes changes even if I tried, the best I could do is hide the note counts in the middle of posts ! As always, complain to tumblr support!!
Don't wait and think 'well lots of other people have probably already complained' or 'I commented on the staff post and thats the same, right?'

A life update for people curious: I'm going through some medical stuff right now (I'm not ready to talk about it just yet, but it's nothing negative or bad! Just a lot of work!), so I'm not in a place to do a bunch of updates for OTD consistently. If I randomly find the time, I'll patch up a few holes in the code, but for now I'm gonna be AFK with life stuff for a while

Some people were complaining that they couldn't change the icon colours but that seems to be working again on my end. Is anyone still having issues with this?
hello! first of all, thank you so much for the work you do with the dashboard userstyle, i genuinely don't think i would still be using tumblr if it wasn't for it. that being said, i was wondering if there was a way to turn off certain changes? i've found the new footer buttons extremely useful and really wanted to be able to keep them :/
You can now swap the icons and the layout with the 'new' version! As well as change the size of the new notes font a bit since it looks so small to me lol
It's a LOT of options to set up but it works! This can also be used to fix any missing icons issues temporarily until I can find out whats causing it for some users

First pass v18 should be out now! It can be used without classic footer from XkitRewritten it just looks a bit weird!
Unfortunately, the spacing is weird for the comments / reblogs / likes because while I nudged the words out of sight, they do technically exist and affect the width - I can't really fix this without a way to remove the words themselves and I'm still out of ideas on how to do that with just CSS

Tumblr runs on likes, reblogs, comments, and all of the little ways a post takes on a life of its own. Until now, those interactions were bundled together as โnotesโ.
Now, on web (and soon on the Tumblr app!), weโre giving you more details right on the post:
Separate counts for likes, reblogs, and comments, so you can see at a glance what kind of activity a post is getting, and if thereโs chatter in the comments or the reblogs, youโll know right away.
The reblog button opens more options, including Add to queue (previously Fast Queue).
The total notes count is still available on every postโs permalink page (just tap the header to get there).

Unfortunately as I've mentioned in another post, this is not something I am able to fix with CSS (the code that OTD uses) since the public posts don't have the full note count. You'll have to wait for Xkit rewritten to (hopefully) post a fix for the footer and I will make sure it's compatible with this userstyle!

It looks like tumblr has fucked with the notes for a lot of people! Not everyone has this update yet
It uh... Completely removes the full notes number count and separates them into replies, reblogs and likes - I can't bring this back unfortunately and frankly it pisses me off
Why on earth do we need the SAME information twice??? Why do I have to do math for the total notes count. This is stupid!
I've already had multiple people asking me why clicking the heart just likes the post instead of opening the 'likes-list', because they don't realise that thats the like button anymore - because it looks exactly like the likes-list button used to.
Anyway if this annoys you as much as me, feel free to message tumblr support about it

The "how to draw manga" series produced by Graphic-sha. These are for manga artist but they give great advice and information.
"Creating characters with personality" by Tom Bancroft. A great book that can help not just people who draw cartoons but also realistic ones. As it helps you with facial ques and how to make a character interesting.
"Albinus on anatomy" by Robert Beverly Hale and Terence Coyle. Great book to help someone learn basic anatomy.
"Artistic Anatomy" by Dr. Paul Richer and Robert Beverly Hale. A good book if you want to go further in-depth with anatomy.
"Directing the story" by Francis Glebas. A good book if you want to Story board or make comics.
"Animal Anatomy for Artists" by Eliot Goldfinger. A good book for if you want to draw animals or creatures.
"Constructive Anatomy: with almost 500 illustrations" by George B. Bridgman. A great book to help you block out shadows in your figures and see them in a more 3 diamantine way.
"Dynamic Anatomy: Revised and expand" by Burne Hogarth. A book that shows how to block out shapes and easily understand what you are looking out. When it comes to human subjects.
"An Atlas of animal anatomy for artist" by W. Ellenberger and H. Dittrich and H. Baum. This is another good one for people who want to draw animals or creatures.
Etherington Brothers, they make books and have a free blog with art tips.
๐As for Supplies, I recommend starting out cheap, buying Pencils and art paper at dollar tree or 5 below. If you want to go fancy Michaels is always a good place for traditional supplies. They also get in some good sales and discounts. For digital art, I recommend not starting with a screen art drawing tablet as they are usually more expensive.
For the Best art Tablet I recommend either Xp-pen, Bamboo or Huion. Some can range from about 40$ to the thousands.

NOTE: Some of these can work on almost any computer like Clip and Sai but others will require a bit stronger computer like Blender. Please check their sites for if your computer is compatible.
So do with this information as you will but as you can tell there are ways to learn how to become an artist, without breaking the bank. The only thing that might be stopping YOU from using any of these things, is YOU.
I have made time to learn to draw and many artist have too. Either in-between working two jobs or taking care of your family and a job or regular school and chores. YOU just have to take the time or use some time management, it really doesn't take long to practice for like an hour or less. YOU also don't have to do it every day, just once or three times a week is fine.

As long as youโre not using AI to create your art, you can reference / trace / draw / recombine / make any sort of art you want, with any of the photos, for free.
There's also MORPHO, a really good book series on anatomy by Michel Lauricella, with very clear explanations and sketches!
And for pose references, there's @adorkastock who shares a ton of them for free, with different models and props, and her website is amazing <3 you can also buy pose packs from her.
It looks like tumblr has fucked with the notes for a lot of people! Not everyone has this update yet
It uh... Completely removes the full notes number count and separates them into replies, reblogs and likes - I can't bring this back unfortunately and frankly it pisses me off
Why on earth do we need the SAME information twice??? Why do I have to do math for the total notes count. This is stupid!
I've already had multiple people asking me why clicking the heart just likes the post instead of opening the 'likes-list', because they don't realise that thats the like button anymore - because it looks exactly like the likes-list button used to.
