The March Legacy - Decades Challenge:

By the time the girls were left to settle into the dormitory, Edith’s mood had seemed to sour. She didn’t appreciate the little frown that had sat upon her sister’s face for the better part of the day, this was supposed to be a momentous occasion for Edith!

“Oh Louisa, must you mope about all day? You’re going to get frown lines from that expression on your face. Are you really so jealous of how partial Miss Tillman is to me?” Edith questions her elder sister.

“I am not jealous of you Edith, I’m glad you have found a mentor in Miss Tillman,” Louisa assures, but she can’t help but be frustrated by her little sister’s naivety. Though she still hadn’t told her younger sister of her turning down Edward’s proposal. “But you are a young lady now, when are you going to realize that the universe does not revolve around you?”

She's named after the author of Little Women, Louisa May Alcott. Not only was she a great writer, she had an incredibly interesting life as an abolitionist, civil war nurse and suffragette. She was the the first woman in the town of Concord, Mass. to register to vote!

Her traits are Good, Stoic (CC Trait), and Bookworm!

She’d definitely be a swiftie and she’s an Evermore girly (specifically right where you left me)

She recently accidentally DIED in game because of a glitch from the new update. She died from starvation ??? but her motives were fine? but I brought her back don’t worry <3

Before their train departed, the girls called upon Lydia Tillman so Edith may say her goodbyes. Miss Tillman was unimpressed by the state of Edith’s hair when she arrived and insisted on styling it herself.

“You cannot arrive at finishing school with your hair down. You are becoming a young lady and you shall appear as such,” Miss Tillman smiles before putting the finishing touches on the young girl’s hair.

“I have a gift for you as well, every young lady needs a signature accessory,” Lydia says assuredly, then pulls a cameo necklace from a box. “I wore this very necklace when I was only a few years your elder. It’s already had quite a life of it’s own, but now it belongs to you.”

Edith was touched, she has never worn anything so elegant before. She had a renewed sense of confidence with her new stylings, she was beginning to feel like a real young lady. As the two sisters sat in the train to Brindleton Bay, Edith recounted the meeting to Louisa.

“Miss Tillman has really taken to you,” The girl remarks before moving the conversation to the topic of finishing school, trying to prepare her little sister as best as she could for experience ahead of her.

When Edith needed someone to accompany her on the journey to finishing school, Louisa jumped at the opportunity to make herself useful and get a change of scenery.

Maude and Jacob had a rather emotional goodbye with their second daughter. Edith was much less mature than her elder sister was when going away, her parents worried that the young girl may not be ready to leave home. Knowing that their eldest and most responsible child was accompanying her calmed their nerves.

Edward’s proposal wasn’t very surprising to Louisa, but she thought she’d have more time.

“Edward,” She can’t help it when her voice cracks. “I can’t-.”

“Lou-.”

She interrupts him, knowing his words will only make this more difficult. “We are too young, you’ll grow to resent me. My father will pressure you into taking over the store and you’ll never leave Windenberg.”

“Then run away with me! We could be on a train out of the city before dusk. Come with me,” He pleads.

Louisa couldn’t do it. She couldn’t be the girl who spontaneously ran away with a man, not caring of the consequences. Not after the work and sacrifices of her parents. She needed to set a good example for her siblings.

Harry Roberts and Madeleine Arthur are wed.
