Visual Artist: Jeff Soto

Jeff Soto born Fullerton, CA 1975, is a painter, illustrator, and muralist who has exhibited in galleries and museums around the world. His distinct color palette, subject matter and technique have been said to bridge the gap between Pop Surrealism and Street Art. Street Artist: Deih

Deih hails from Valencia where he is something of a legend, apart from murals he is big time player in the comic and animation world and makes some very amazing work. He keeps his Instagram regularly updated (here).

I’ve been painting graffiti since 1993, and I still love it. I draw, I breathe. Recently, I’ve been developing a project called “The Insider,” which is part of an introspective investigation of my feelings and life. I draw my inner life as I consider my relationships with others and myself. Thus, I understand science-fiction representational codes as a way to achieve (to construct) a personal truth.

Chinese Artist: Ren Hang - 任航 

Born in Changchun, Jilin Province, China, in 1987; based in Beijing. 

Ren Hang’s images are uncensored, erotic, twisted, raw, and are censored in China. They cast light on an otherwise shadowy Chinese underground youth culture, where lust and indulgence run as rampant as anywhere else in the world.

Although Hang is new gen, his determination mimics that of his fellow Beijing creatives. Ai Weiwei co-curated a show with Hang in 2013. He uses his art for activism, employing mixed media to advocate for human rights and oppression and was thrown in jail in 2011 for 81 days – he’s now banned from leaving China at all. 

“I care that the government wants to limit me. Of course, I don’t want to go to jail, but I don’t think there’s a way to fix that” says Hang.

Kim Joon’s Brand Name 3D Limbs

Born in Seoul, Korea in 1966 Kim Joon (김준) is one of Korea’s most notable contemporary artists. He creates digital prints exploring themes of desire, memory & youth using porcelain & tattoos as his digital mediums. He fabricates compositions out of tableware, fragments of idealized nudes, & icons of Western pop culture. A master of 3D software, Kim successfully juxtaposes traditional Asian motifs & new media.
