Guardian Angel
Below my feet is solid water reflecting the fluffy clouds and blue skies above me. In front of me is my childhood home. The one I shared with my mother for those few short years. I walk up the steps to the front door. I walk in and it’s empty. There’s not even a speck of dust on the floor. As usual, I am alone. It’s so quiet, almost peaceful, but the silence is disrupted by something banging on the front door. I see them peeking through the windows. Demons craving the taste of my flesh. They slam themselves against the glass, moaning and groaning. I run to my room and hide in the closet. I find a weapon on the shelf and hold it in my shaky hands. I hear them in the hallway. Tears stream down my face. I brace myself to attack. The closet door opens and there stands a man. He wears all black with a pair of sunglasses. He tells me he is there to save me. I put down my weapon and stand with him. I walk out of the closet and I noticed a sliding glass door has appeared. Outside is a raft. I hop on and he starts rowing. Drifting away from the building I once called home, I watch the golden clouds slowly glide across the now pink skies. I say goodbye.
