the biggest artistic influence/inspiration this year for me has been the surreal, i started the year falling in love with Twin Peaks and anything else by david lynch i could get my hands on and since then my love for uncanny and impossible dream worlds just keeps growing. alongside that love came the inevitable Lila Finally Gets Into Vaporwave event all trans australian girls named lila go through, one of the most surreal genres with its twist of existing music into something new and strange, giving new meaning to a set of lyrics or crafting a new world out of someone else's songs like a distant collaboration through the timeline, i think when one comes the other follows yknow? i also played fatum betula which is an LSDlike dream exploration game that i loved, a simple weird little game that made me laugh as much as it made me feel at peace. my new album DREAMDEPTH [V] leans into all of those influences while pulling from my previous music, i think its my best work yet

so lonely trying to be yours

like if you gave a heart a laptop and a mic and told it to make an album. rooted in love's every side, the passionate promises to be open and intimate, the desperate pleas to not their time crumble, the unmatched highs when two souls are linked, the self-destruction in order to make their puzzle piece fit, all soared out in the company of scattered mechanical glitch-pop production. LP1 goes about pulling together these sporadic glitchy sometimes sparse sometimes hostile most times euphoric electronic beats and textures with the always beautiful vocals of FKA twigs, stunning you with lovestruck vivid soundscapes to bask in while the pain of loving another melts into the joy until its all the same, the heartflash highs of 'Closer' and 'Two Weeks' as cold of an embrace as the lonely lows of 'Preface' and 'Video Girl', everything at the end of the day is love. my arms are a rocky road floating through LP1, knowing red hot love being met with base appreciation and feeling it bubble underneath, there will never be another song like 'Pendulum'.

theres nothing holding LP1 back from being maybe the most alluring crystal-clearly perfect pop/electronic album i have ever heard, tragic and heartbreaking and gorgeous and irreplicable, perfectly paced and sequenced to flutter my soul even thinking about it. 40 minutes dedicated to love i keep on a keychain near my sparkle, opening with a painful imploding intro where twigs painfully repeats 'i love another, and thus i hate myself' and closing with a sensual glowing closer dedicated to loving herself when her partner cant. 11 years old and we're still waiting to catch up with twigs' future.
