Places like 4chan operate off of "it's a joke/it's ironic" as an excuse to ramp each other up to get more and more extreme. You start off making "edgy jokes" about Black people and gay people and Jewish people to one another, and when questioned, they'd say "no, I don't really believe this stuff (but jokes do have kernels of truth to them after all and those leftist progressives are idiots)." The people who complain about it are just moralfags and lame unfunny leftists. The people in there ping-pong their worst ideas about minorities to each other through "humor", egging each other on to say wilder and wilder stuff "for the meme", until one day it's obvious to outsiders that this isn't humor to them, it's just a neonazi community cloaking itself in "irony" as a justification and excuse. Those "joke slogans" are now just things they say because they believe them.

Then take the "pro-kink" stuff online, without any of the heavy safeguarding and rules of real life kink practice, that encourages you to push boundaries and share your most wild taboo fantasies in any way you like. I'm sure most of you are probably familiar with the incest posting that many popular users have become comfortable doing. At first everything was tagged or obvious fantasy. Then people started arguing for the tags to come off, laughing at people who didn't want to see untagged incest randomly on blogs, because they were prudes and puritans and whatever else. Then they start poking at why people are disgusted by incest and pedophilia and the imagery around it, depictions of it, etc. Trying to get you to see any shocked reaction or oppositional stance to it as "regressive", or puritan, or prudish, or whatever else.

Then a few months ago I saw someone talking about their own mother and an insanely inappropriate interaction they're having with her, which was met with encouragement that she's attracted to her and prompts for OP to have sex with her mom in real life. Then I started seeing a shitton of these blogs advocating for incest in real life. Then I saw reactions to genuine concern over grooming being stuff like "hot" or "lol" or "hey OP I want to fuck my mom ooo what are you gonna do about it" (bets on receiving this response to this post.) "It's hot" is being used as a thought-terminating cliche just like "it's funny" or "it's ironic".

Since nothing is tagged you're also just supposed to assume what is fantasy and what isn't. I've seen these people talk about how they create alt accounts where they pretend to be children online so they can seek out groomers/groomer roleplayers for a sexual thrill, and I've simultaneously seen a lot of blogs touting themselves as teenagers or 18-year-olds and openly seeking out adults to groom them. Are these people roleplayers? Are they real kids? You can't ask these people to make it obvious that it's fantasy, because the more realistic it is, the hotter it is to them. That comes first before anything else in their minds. Their sexual desire comes first. They wrap themselves in what makes them horny because it gives them this kind of invincibility to anything you can throw at them.

Effectively you are unable to argue with this the same way you are unable to argue with an "ironic" Nazi. Everything they say is a joke even if they believe it. Similarly, everything is just kink fantasy roleplay even as they are observably structuring their politics and worldview off of their sexual desire. And everyone who isn't in their in-group is just a moralfag or a puritan or some other kind of prude.
