Read: PinkSmoke Entertainment emerges with a few yen and a dream! Will they succeed?
[December 10th, 2024]
PinkSmoke Entertainment is gaining some attention in the music scene. Why? Because Kim Ara (κΉμλΌ) is the CEO! Yes that's right, the woman who has been in the industry since she was a child now thinks she can relive her glory days by making her own company! This situation would be really sad if it wasn't so funny!
As of right now nothing is known about PinkSmoke or their activities beyond the cryptic Instagram post and captions that Kim Ara sporadically posts. Some sources say that auditions have already begun and the line up for their first girl group is set and copyrights have begun to be processed.
Only fate will tell if these girls are in for the same fate as their failure of a CEO. Stay Tuned readers!

What the hell am I doing?
That was the question that had been swimming through Ara's head for the past 20 years. She seemed to always be in a state of perpetual distress, probably why she became an alcoholic at the age of- what 15? The ticking of the office clock helped drown out her paranoia a bit but she was still spiraling.
Ara looked down at the piles of paper in her lap, requests for copyrights, patents- all the things needed to start her own entertainment company. Why the hell was she even doing this anyway? Every single Korean news outlet, blog, reality Tv show and the like had made it very clear that they all hated her. Ever since the incident of 1989 (please don't ask!!) no respectable individual wanted anything to do with her, even by proxy. The only real work she could do was behind the scenes; judging auditions, producing, helping out with trainees and doing things that didn't put her in front of the camera.
Ohh but she loved being in front of the camera. She loved it so much in fact, she gave up her childhood for it.

Ara smiled as she looked into the camera. It was large, or maybe it wasn't. Ara had just turned 6 years old and she was small for her age group so maybe the camera only looked large in compression to her. She had never seen a recording camera before so it held all of her attention.
"Kim Ara! Sweetheart! Are you paying attention?"
The CEO's stern voice snapped Ara back to reality. She shifted in her chair before she answered, "Y-yes sir! I'm listening!"
The CEO's handsome face shifted into a smile. He shuffled the papers in his hand and whispered something to the other two people sitting by him. Ara glanced at the door, she couldn't help it. Her mom was behind that door cheering her on and she was nervous- like nervous enough to throw up. If she could just see her mother real quick she would be at ease-
"So Ara, tell me- why did you decide to audition?"
Ara's head snapped back to the table in front of her. The question came from the woman on the CEO's right. Ara had no idea who this woman was, all she knew was that this woman was mean. While she was in the waiting room with her mother, this woman had walked out to look at the people auditioning. Not talk to, not welcome, but look. It made Ara so uncomfortable, mainly because the woman's eyes lingered on her for a bit too long.
Ara smiled at the woman in an attempt to shake of the discomfort that was settling in her.
"I've always loved singing and dancing!" Ara said with enthusiasm. "My mom said that the first thing I did when I could stand was shake my butt!" Ara let out a small giggle, the CEO smiled at it and scribbled something down. The mean woman leaned over to whisper something in his ear.
The CEO tapped his fingers on the table. "Ara, you do know that being a trot singer won't be easy right? You will be representing our country's culture."
Ara vaguely knew what he meant. Her mother had drilled it into her head over and over before they went through with it. Being in entertainment in this day and age was not going to be easy- especially for someone so young. But none of that talk discouraged her in the slightest.
Ara straightened her back. "Yes, I know sir. But I still want too try."
The CEO smiled. It was the kind of smile that someone as young as Ara didn't recognize but years later, she realized that smile was full of nothing but evil.
"Alright lets see what you can do" he said.
Ara shot up to her feet. "Yes sir!"

"Do you have proof of office?" Ara tried not to cringe at the clerks shrill voice. After waiting for hours in the waiting room she had finally been allowed into one of the tiny offices. Then this young woman asked her question after question and Aras patience had run thinner than a fucking fishing line.
"Yes it's right here." Ara said handing over a copy of the building she was renting. It was in downtown Seoul nestled between a barbeque restaurant and a tall office building that Ara believed might be an accounting firm. The building was old and dilapidated and the spot wasn't ideal but it was all she could afford and y'know- you get what you pay for. The young lady ran through the files and clacked on her keyboard.
"Okay! I think that everything is in order! Your copyrights and patents have been approved the only thing that's left is the confirmation-which...." She trailed off and started clicking something on her computer. "Which-sorry- which you will receive in 2 to 3 business days!"
She finished with a smile and despite Ara's depleted patience she gave her one as well. Ara gathered her things, gave the young woman a small thank you and left the building. As she stepped outside, she finally realized that it was too late to take this whole thing back. she had the building, had the name- very ridiculous name btw- and she had already promised several people jobs. This time she was stuck, this time there was no bailing.
she let out a guttural sigh and walked to a secluded corner where she could finally smoke. Ara took out a box of Black Devil Pink Vanilla cigarettes and lit one. Kim Ara had been smoking for a long time, so long in fact that the cigarettes had completely taken away her ability to sing. When she debuted she was a ballad/trot singer and now she was nobody. Anyone who knew her didn't think of her fondly and anyone who did was dead.
Ara looked down at her worn heels. "What the hell am I doing?" She said it out loud this time.
Ever since the incident, she had never been the same. The media had made her their punching bag for years, it had died down when she got to her late twenties (because who cares about some OLD HAG right???) but it never really went away.
She tried to move past it but it was impossible. Time and Time again she had been rejected just because of how infamous she was. How fucking ridiculous. Ara didn't know of any man that got even a portion of the slack she did. Tears welled up in her eyes as she took drag after drag of her cigarette.
I wish I had someone to protect me back then.
Ara paused. Yes! That was it. That was the why. She was doing all this so that no poor soul would have to share her fate. So that if some young girl out there fell, she would be on the ground waiting to catch them.
Ara let out another sigh and snuffed out her cigarette. She couldn't stand here moping, PinkSmoke Entertainment wasn't going to build itself. She grabbed her phone and dialed a number.
"Hey! How's the flyers for the audition coming?"
She walked, and this time she wasn't just walking away from her past, she was walking toward her future.
NOTE: oof! That was a lot! This was a long one but I will be writing longer in the future. This piece is kind of an introduction piece to Kim Ara and PinkSmoke Entertainment as a whole. I probably won't have any profiles for Kim Ara because she more or less serves as a mouth piece for PSE. This was really fun! Thx for reading!
