ofimaginableâ:
once she divulged the details of the games, a look of recognition crossed his face. xavier had heard of her, of course. it was rare people so young won, in fact he wasnât sure he knew of any other twelve year old who won. he wouldâve been eleven, so he hadnât watched. he had never enjoyed to watch it, and would avoid it all costs, preferring to stick his nose in a book. still, he had heard of it, it even gave hope to many little kids. âthatâs understandable. why did you come back now?â he asks, before shaking his head, looking down at his feet for a moment, âsorry thatâsâyou donât have to answer that,â he stammers, ears burning for a moment. it seemed too personal, he was sure he wouldnât want to answer something like that, with someone he had just met.
She shook her head, almost exactly how he had. âNo, itâs... fine, um...â she started, placing a strand of hair behind her ear; one of her many nervous habits. âI just... I saw a lot of kids from three... dying.â She nearly spat out the word. âAnd... I figured if the games were going to continue, I... might as well do something to help then get back?â She shook her head, trying to chuckle away the few tears that had formed. âS-sorry,â she said, silently cursing her stutter for âmiraculouslyâ reappearing. âThat was probably t-too much information, huh?â
