Currently sprawled out against the sofa had been Pikachu, basking in the cool, chilly AC blowing throughout the house. Considering the fact that it was summer, the temperature outside was humid and uncomfortable.

Which is exactly why he refused to go outside unless absolutely necessary, preferring to spend his time staying absolutely still than to risk overheating. Pikachu lifts his head, glancing sleepily over at his dearest friend, Misty, as his bolted tail twitched side to side.

What a surprise! Ash hadn’t seen his precious partner coming; the tickle of static running over his cheek caught him entirely off-guard. Jolting up with a yelp, he turned his eyes on Pikachu. That was all he needed to process the situation, and collect himself.

 “Hey, Buddy! Way to sneak up on me,” Ash teased, leaning into Pikachu’s rosy, bolt-scarred cheek. “I may not have the full scruff anymore, but that still gives me a little jolt, y’know.” Despite Ash’s complaints, he grinned. He clearly wasn’t all too upset about the whole thing.

Cheeky, amused giggles escaped the yellow rodent’s muzzle as he covered his mouth with his paws, clearly pleased by the startled reaction given to him by Ash. His ears twitch and he tilts his head to the side, giving a somewhat innocent expression. As if he hadn’t just shocked him on purpose.
