"Hello, yes. Hi, is this Y/N? Okay good. I’m Doctor Post. I have the Sheriff with me. I’m truly sorry, but your brother… He isn’t going to make it. We’re going to take him off life support tonight. There won’t be any time for you to say goodbye to him though," The doctor paused as you stared at the phone in shock. "Y/N, are you there? Y/N?"
Your brother, he had stage four leukemia. He was your life and soul, you’d do anything for him. And he fought so hard for you, but now… Now he was dead. They didn’t even have the Courtesy to tell you in person. What was going to happen now? The thought of your brothers heart monitor flat lining ran through your mind over and over again. Why now? Life was just starting to get good.
You fell to the floor in tears, holding your head in your hands. Your phone rang again, this time tony popped up on the caller ID.
You grab the phone and stand up. Why was Tony calling you so late? You grab your keys and walk out of your house, still wearing your slippers.
You press your back against the door as Dr. Post calls again. The warm trails of tears sting your cheeks once again and you take off at a running pace towards Tonys house, not bothering to answer your phone.
Almost getting lost in the darkness, you fall down to the ground again. After a few minutes, the tears stop stinging and you get up again.
When you got to Tony’s house you knocked on the door. When he opened it, he looked at you shocked. You were a mess; slippers, shorts, tank top and messy hair, and your eyes were red and puffy as tears continued to pour out.
“Y/N, what’s wro-” Tony started to say before you threw yourself at him and started to sob.
“They- they ha-ave to take my brother off li-life support,” you tried to say between sobs. “They couldn’t save him.”
Tony frowned and picked you up, shutting the door and bringing you to his living room. “I’m so sorry, Y/N. I really wish I could do something to help, because you sure as hell don’t deserve this.”
Tony set you on the couch and brought a blanket, setting over your shivering body. Then, he sat down next to you and held you in his arms.
“You knew this was going to happen sometime, didn’t you? We’ve talked about it before,” he whispered, after you had stopped crying.
“I know, but I didn’t think it’d be this soon. I thought maybe I’d have the time to take him out to lunch, let him watch his favorite movies. I thought I’d have the time to say goodbye, but I didn’t. I didn’t even get to tell him that I loved him.”
“Babe, he was going to die eventually in his condition. But you still have me. I’m always here for you, and I always will be. Think of all the happy memories you had with him, because no matter how much you cry, he’s still with you and that’ll never change even if you cry to the end of existence,” Tony said as he kissed your forehead. The best I can do is make us hot chocolate and put in a movie, how does that sound?”
You smiled and nodded. “I’d love that, Tony.”
He got up and went to the kitchen(where he belongs) and came back a few minutes later with two mugs of hot chocolate. He handed you one mug and continued to put as movie in as you sipped on the steaming cup.
The two of you sat watching the first Star Wars. An hour later, Tony looked down at you and blew air at your head, making you look at him.
His lips met yours and he blushed, grabbing your hand. “Y/N, I’m really sorry for what happened tonight, and I realized that I want to be there next to you when things like this happen again.”
You held your breath as Tony sighed, looking you in the eyes.
I, I love you. And I know you love me back. Honestly, you make me happy. Y/N, will you be my gir-“
Tony lifted you into his lap and held you up to his chest before using his hand to pull your head towards his, kissing you.
"I love you," you forced against his lips. "Forever and always."
