Yuuri won.

The wonderful, staggering truth of it has yet to hit him,even as he stands on the highest tier of the podium, the crowd roaring abouthim.  His gold medal is heavy on hischest, and his heart pounds against it. He smiles so wide that tears bead in his eyes.

Then he looks down at his lifelong idol, standing besidehim.  Beating Victor is more significant thanwinning the Grand Prix Final.  It meanshe’s finally on the level of his greatest hero. It’s everything he’s ever wanted, second to being Victor’s friend.  And maybe making out with him…on theirwedding day…before growing old together. Whatever.

Victor’s height puts him at eye-level with Yuuri, and he’salready staring at him.  Yuuri can hardlybreathe.

“Congratulations, Yuuri,” Victor says through a heart-shapedsmile.  Yuuri feels a sense of completeunreality.  

“T-thank you.”

Victor leans in. Yuuri can feel his breath against his ear.

“You’re a beautiful skater,” Victor murmurs.  A shiver rattles through Yuuri, his face burning.

“Not as beautiful as you,” someone says.  It’s a few heartbeats before Yuuri realizesit’s him.  Oh god, he just hit on VictorNikiforov.

Victor tilts back, his eyebrows raised.  Yuuri levitates out of his body.

Yuuri doesn’t notice at first.

Sometimes, he’s still in a state of disbelief when it comes to Victor. The fact that his hero is actually attracted to him, let alone in love with him, is frankly mind-boggling. He can’t be blamed for being a bit, well, oblivious.

It’s the reason he assumes Victor is being clumsy when he drops his coffee mug as Yuuri enters their flat. Why would he think it has anything to do with the luggage Yuuri just carted up three flights of stairs on his own without breaking a sweat?

“I was going to help with those,” Victor says, staring at Yuuri with a dazed look, coffee pooling at his feet.

“I got it. It wasn’t that heavy anyway.”

Victor’s throat bobs. Yuuri frowns at him, confused by his reaction. He ignores him for the sake of carrying his stuff into Victor’s bedroom. Or, he thinks with a smile, their bedroom now.

The next time it happens, Yuuri’s vacuuming in the living room while Victor sits at the kitchen table, reviewing choreography on his laptop. Yuuri wants to make sure he’s pulling his weight, to show how much he values being welcomed into Victor’s space. He decides to move the couch and clean under it properly.

Since he doesn’t want to bother Victor while he works, he lifts the couch himself and deposits it a few feet to the side. He’s just finished sucking up dust bunnies when he notices Victor staring at him.

He flicks off the vacuum.

“What’s up?”

Victor startles and then, though Yuuri can scarcely believe his eyes, a deep flush pinks his cheeks. His eyes dart back down to his laptop like he’s been caught doing something scandalous. He almost looks…shy.

Yuuri breaks Victor’s heart….again, and again, and again.

Victor is flustered. In all his wildest fantasies he never expected the conversation to go so wrong.  He wants to turn it around, desperately, but he’s lost.  He can’t think straight.

“Do you remember the last time we talked?  On the last day of camp?” Victor hears himself say.  Yuuri frowns, clearly caught off guard by the question.

“Yes,” he says quietly.

“I told you; I don’t have freckles.”

“What about here?” Yuuri says, pressing a kiss to something that looks suspiciously like a freckle on Victor’s shoulder.  “Or here.  Or here.”  He traces a path up the side of Victor’s neck with his lips.  “Surely you have one or two here.”  He kisses the peaks of Victor’s cheeks; the tip of his nose.  

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

“Really.” Yuuri fights a smile.  “You’re sure there’s absolutely nowhere on your body where you have freckles…”

Victor’s eyes flicker.  Yuuri watches him debate with himself, amused.

“I guess, if I was going to have one, it might be here.”  He points to his bottom lip.

“I see.”  Yuuri leans in and kisses him full on the mouth.  A small noise of surprise and pleasure hums from Victor’s throat.  It spurs Yuuri on.  He licks into him until they’re both panting, clawing at each other with desperate fingers.

“I can think of one other place I might have a freckle,” Victor murmurs.  He waggles his eyebrows like an idiot.

“How many times do I have to tell you,” Yuuri says as he pops open the button on Victor’s pants and tugs down the zipper, “your pick-up lines are awful.”

“Maybe I’d believe you if you weren’t taking off my pants right n–”

When Yuuri moves in with Victor in St. Petersburg, they have to work through Yuuri’s anxiety and Victor’s secrets to find their balance.

Chapter summary: Victor and Yuuri follow through on their vow and enjoy their honeymoon.

1.) The final chapter of Nerve Endings.  It’s about halfway done and should be posted this weekend.  Gonna’ be so bittersweet to wrap this fic up T__T

2.) The two remaining chapters in Heartbreakers, so one from Victor’s perspective outlining all the ways Yuuri broke his heart, then one from Yuuri’s (aka Victor is a very unreliable narrator)

3.) An extra scene for Puppy Love.  I’m thinking Victor and Yuuri’s first date and maybe a scene where they get a puppy together.

4.) I’d like to write another tumblr ficlet for Lamen, and I have a ficlet idea for Andreil kicking around in my head that I can’t seem to get rid of, so maybe that.

5.) Once all of those are wrapped up it’s time to go back to writing (/attempting to write) my original novel.  It’s a supernatural horror/mystery with themes of dreamscape and reincarnation, and there is, of course, a gay romance at the center of it.  Hopefully I’ll finally be ready to buckle down and finish the damn thing (after 5 years of outlining, researching, writing, deleting that writing, writing, then altering a fundamental aspect of the story so I have to start all over again).

Summary: 

Yuuri breaks Victor’s heart…again, and again, and again.  AKA that fic where Victor gets left at the altar.

About the process:

My personal choice for music differs from the author’s (their is much more tasteful! haha) The lingerie itself was combination of lacy lingerie and Burning Man costumes (was so hard to find the source!!!) The underwear is supposed to be see through, its lace after all, but i am not very fond of explicit depiction, so disregard this minor detail please. Thanks!
