it's bad scholarship! and sure yeah okay it's twitter, not an academic symposium or a peer-reviewed journal, but there's a difference in rattling off two sentences of your thoughts and making a thread whose entire purpose is to "inform" (inform who? newer fans, I suppose): in the second case, you have some level of responsibility to substantiate your claims. and op is claiming that (a) Dan got hit with the soft boi characterisation, (b) to a level that it was forced on him, (c) that being a bottom is part of that characterisation, (d) that he was, in 2018, rejecting the soft boi fanon, (e) that in 2025 he said that line specifically to, again, reject that characterisation, implying that (f) in 2025 the characterisation was either still present OR still affecting him despite not being present.
do i think all of these individually are wrong? no. I could actually think of several examples for some. but if you're going to present them as presuppositions that we all naturally agree with, you'd better have done the work to not only prove they're true on some level, but also that they're directly linked to each other. you don't get to just state them in the opening tweet as though they're foregone conclusions.
