Calem is initially superficial and vain. He's entirely too concerned with the latest trends and constantly expresses a deep desire to become a member of the Kalos region's high society. Calem longs for the lavish lifestyle Lumiose City has to offer and can't at all comprehend why his parents, both accomplished Trainers, would choose to settle in quaint (and in his opinion: boring) little Vaniville Town.

The first thing he takes notice of when meeting Serena is her beauty, status, and wealth. He develops somewhat of an obsession with her, perceiving Serena as perfection in human form despite her wishes to not be placed upon a pedestal.

Calem also openly idolizes Lysandre, not his past philanthropic efforts like a certain young syndicate boss, but his affluence and renown, and remains neck deep in denial towards his involvement with Team Flare even when the evidence begins to pile up all around them. It becomes increasingly apparent the two are connected, but Calem clings to every single explanation and excuse he can grasp onto - up until the moment the ugly truth is staring him directly in the eyes.

He's shaken to the absolute core by the events at Geosenge Town as well as the realization of how near he was to becoming little different than Lysandre. Calem renounces his previous admiration of him and dedicates himself to unlearning Team Flare's ideology he unwittingly swallowed up. He and Serena also form a genuine connection at last with one another now that he's grown capable of perceiving her as a person rather than a concept, and the possibility of her returning his sincere romantic feelings eventually arises too.

Shauna begins her journey at seventeen years old, and her eighteenth birthday is approaching - but instead of planning how to celebrate the occasion with her friends, she's stressed about what to do with her life since she's going to be an official adult soon.

She frequently frets about her appearance, aging, finding a boyfriend who will marry her before she turns twenty-six, and feeling she must figure out her purpose in this world now. Shauna still wishes to make memories during her travels, but there's a sense of urgency to it here. She behaves as though she already has one foot in the grave and it's all because of Team Flare enforcing the belief from the shadows that aging is something to dread.

Shauna is truly convinced everything will all be over for her once she reaches the age of thirty, repeatedly lamenting the interests she will be expected to abandon in order to be perceived as an adult woman, or will be too busy with her future occupation to indulge in anymore. Serena attempts to reassure Shauna during her spirals youth isn't all there is to life, and it can also be a state of mind.

Serena's continuous support in addition to the defeat of Team Flare, then soon afterwards assisting in the process of purging the group's propaganda from the region is what ultimately frees Shauna. At last, she can look towards her eighteenth birthday and the years that will follow with a smile rather than apprehension.

Trevor, for the most part, is a polite young man with a good head on his shoulders, and in a sense plays the role of Calem's and Shauna's keeper. He's not without his own insecurities and flaws, however. His height is a highly sensitive subject, and he has little patience towards behavior he's deemed foolish, which is when his surprisingly sarcastic side emerges - and he has the weight of his family's accomplishments hanging over his head at all times, he feels.

Trevor comes from a long, long line of researchers (doctors, professors, archaeologists, botanists, etc.) and supposedly several of his ancestors were even members of the royal court, their names and discoveries still remembered by history and celebrated in the present. Despite being so young, barely eighteen, Trevor feels he must find a worthy contribution, something to add to his family's legacy. And Team Flare's beliefs they're pushing upon the populace of Kalos, that youth is everything and death is constantly creeping behind them all, has only worsened his concerns. Trevor is often overly conscious of his own mortality, and fears failing to secure his chances of being remembered in the future.

So he turns his attentions towards the Pokédex, and the Legendary and Mythical Pokémon of Kalos in particular. At this point in Sisterhood's timeline, the existences of various Legendary and Mythical Pokémon in other regions, which were once the source of much debate and more often than not considered to be mere folktale, have at last been proven. Such recent historic events in the study of Pokémon have led Trevor to question if those of Kalos may also in fact be real - so this is the goal he has bestowed upon himself.

Trevor's character arc is ultimately about relearning the joy of discovery. During his journey, while he is later provided the answer to his question, that the Legendary Pokémon of Kalos do indeed exist and Team Flare is intending to utilize the power of Xerneas and Yveltal in order to carry out their horrible plot, the most valuable discovery Trevor comes across is: why his family became researchers to begin with.

Tierno, aside from Serena herself, could be considered the sane man of the friend group. Team Flare's propaganda has no (direct) effect on him, he's immune (which frustrates the organization immensely). He's happy with his body, he doesn't fear aging, fame and fortune aren't why Tierno pursues the life of a dancer; it's purely passion for the art of dance - and even if he were to one day achieve fame and fortune, it wouldn't change who he is at all, he would remain humble.

He is, however, extremely worried about how Team Flare's propaganda has affected his friends: Calem's 'get rich and famous quick!' schemes, Shauna's attempts to speedrun her life, and Trevor behaving as though he already has one foot in the grave. Serena's added presence is such a relief to him and she's someone who he not only feels as though he can share these worries with, but she too is aware of the harmful messages Team Flare is promoting.

And she practices the art of dance as well! But Tierno's character arc is considerably softer compared to the others. He does have a minor goal not precisely connected to his dream of becoming a dancer, however - his mother was once a Contest Star in the Sinnoh region, and after she recounted so many stories of that time in her life, Tierno felt inspired to bring contest halls to Kalos, so she can compete again, and others may also want to participate in the fun too.
