What it actually means to be a Beta
There is a common stereotype that Betas are just the leftover designation. They have no instincts or smell and are not suitable pack members or mates. That stereotype is entirely wrong.
Betas in reality are a balance of typical Omega and Alpha instincts, such as nurture and protection. Betas are characterized by having both types of instincts, although their instincts are weaker than Alphas and Omegas.
Having and understanding the instincts of all secondary genders makes Betas powerful and somewhat threatening. They can easily appeal to all secondary genders because they understand the instincts that Omegas and Alphas have but are not as dictated by them as the other secondary genders are. This fact threatened Omegas and Alphas as mates and leaders so untrue stereotypes were created to make Betas more unappealing.
Betasā instincts are not just half Alpha and half Omega. Their instincts are usually a mix and unequal balance. A Betaās own instincts may also clash with each other, causing what appears to be indecisiveness. For example, if a packmate is sick, their more Omegan instincts may tell them to create a nest for the sick packmate, while their Alphan instincts may tell them to feed the sick packmate to keep them strong.
Betas do have a scent, although it is significantly weaker than Omegas and Alphas and can pass off as undetectable. A Betaās scent may strengthen when distressed or aroused.
Betas are not able to have naturally occurring heats and ruts, however, they can have a medically induced minor heat or rut (M.I.H./M.I.R.). MIHs/MIRs are most often used to assist mates in mating cycles, but can be used for many reasons.
Betaās are extremely diverse in what they experience. Some may have stronger Alpha instincts, or have a stronger smell than others and vice versa. No Beta will encounter the same set of circumstances.
TL;DR: All Betas are beautiful in their own way, and they are not just the side dynamic in Omegaverse.

Fictional Kiss Prompts
So I borrowed a bunch of these fictional kisses from this post and made it up into a prompt list. Feel free to reblog of course!
breaking the kiss to say something, staying so close that youāre murmuring into each otherās mouths
moving around while kissing, stumbling over things, pushing each other back against the wall/onto the bed
kissing so desperately that their whole body curves into the other personāsĀ
throwing their arms around the other person, holding them close while they kiss
hands on the other personās back, fingertips pressing under their top, drawing gentle circles against that small strip of bare skin that make them break the kiss with a gasp
lazy morning kisses before theyāve even opened their eyes, still mumbling half-incoherently, not wanting to wake up
routine kisses where the other person presents their cheek/forehead for the hello/goodbye kiss without even looking up from what theyāre doing
being unable to open their eyes for a few moments afterward
one small kiss, pulling away for an instant, then devouring each other
staring at the otherās lips, trying not to kiss them, before giving in
when one stops the kiss to whisper āIām sorry, are you sure you-ā and they answer by kissing them more
a hoarse whisper ākiss meā
following the kiss with a series of kisses down the neck
starting with a kiss meant to be gentle, ending up in passion
a gentle āi love youā whispered after a soft kiss, followed immediately by a stronger kiss
when one personās face is scrunched up, and the other one kisses their lips/nose/forehead
height difference kisses where one person has to bend do wn and the other is on their tippy toes
kisses where one person is sitting in the otherās lap
kisses meant to distract the other person from whatever they were intently doing
top of head kisses
Feel like doing some prompts. Send me a pair and a number and I will write a short kiss scene drabble

hello everyone! i thought i would share some keyboard shortcuts in notion that i use the most often and that save me the most time.
note: most actions from word processors, like ctrl + b for bold, will already work in notion!
#, ##, or ### + space to create large, medium, and small headings respectively
> + space to create a toggle block
/, the forward slash, lets you create any page you want. just type out what youāre looking for (i.e. page, table, link)
ctrl + \ toggles the sidebar on and off
ctrl + shift + n opens a new notion window (i use this for notetaking)
ctrl + shift + u lets you go up a level in the page hierarchy (i.e. from february to all months)
duplicate any content by holding option or alt and dragging. you can highlight as many blocks as you want
ctrl + / to change the type of blocks you have selected
ctrl + shift + p to move the page youāre on to another one (i like to use this for my article list to move them to my already read list
hope this helps :)

Some fluffy, some angsty prompts
As a hello
With a hoarse voice, under the blankets
A scream
Over a cup of tea
Over a beer bottle
On a sunny Tuesday afternoon, the late sunlight glowing in your hair
As a thank you
As an apology
When baking chocolate chip cookies
Not said to me
With a shuddering gasp
When we lay together on the fresh spring grass
In a letter
A whisper in the ear
Loud, so everyone can hear
Over and over again, till itās nothing but a senseless babble
When the broken glass litters the floor
From very far away
With no space left between us
As we huddle together, the storm raging outside
Over your shoulder
Muffled, from the other side of the door
Through a song
Without really meaning it
In a blissful sigh as you fall asleep
Broken, as you clutch the sleeve of my jacket and beg me not to leave
A taunt, with one eyebrow raised and a grin bubbling at your lips
When I am dead
Slowly, the words dripping from your tongue like honey
Too quick, mumbled into your scarf
In awe, the first time you realised it
In a way I canāt return
On a post-it note
Before we jump
As a goodbye

A lot of you have been asking how I go about making my graphics, i.e. how I do graphic design, so I thought Iād make a guide - or perhaps a series of guides if you would like - on how to design graphics! First off, Iād like to introduce you to the fundamental elements of graphic design, and hopefully this will help you gain a new perspective. and improve your own design skills.
Lines are structures that connect two points. They make up everything that we see, even the letters and characters we read every day. But more often than not, we take them for granted. In reality, lines are one of the most rudimentary components of graphic design, and they serve to channel ideas and emotion.
Lines can:
Organize pieces of information or elements on a page
Serve as guidelines to lead the viewerās eye
Provide movement such as using wavy lines to represent moving water
Emphasize certain parts of the page
Set a mood, such as how straight lines evoke order and neatness while zig-zags convey excitement and tension
A shape is any two-dimensional area with a recognizable boundary. They can add interest to designs (such as in backgrounds), organize visual content, and be used to make illustrations.
Shapes exist in three categories:
Geometric shapes are regular shapes like circles and squares
Organic shapes are more freeform, such as a blob or a leaf
Abstract shapes have a recognizable form but are not exactly natural shapes, such as alphabet glyphs, spirals, and stick figures
When brought together, these shapes can form helpful illustrations that will help convey meaning to your work or add some decoration to it.
The effects achieved by the shapes are determined by its form, color, size, and other characteristics. For example, triangles often show excitement and risk, while circles are seen as eternal and often feminine.
In the example illustration below, which is one of my January wallpapers, I use triangles to convey a feeling of vivacity and excitement.
Different shapes may also be used to structure content or create a layout, making it easier for the userās eyes to find information. This is often the case in blogs and websites.
Color can be used to make an image stand out, convey information, enhance meaning, or group things together, but how do you know what colors āfitā together? When youāre starting out, you might find it easier to look for color schemes from pinterest or wherever you can find inspiration. It also helps to look for images or photographs that evoke the same vibe youāre going for, and then using a similar color scheme.
But what if you want to make a palette yourself? Learn color theory!
Before I elaborate, hereās some terminology for you:
Hue is the color itself
Value is how dark or light the color is
Saturation is the intensity of the color
Now, how do you go about making a color scheme? Here are some types of color schemes you should know about:
Monochromatic color schemes only use one hue but vary in value and saturation.
Analogous color schemes use colors adjacent to each other on the color wheel, such as red, orange, and yellow, or blues and greens.
Complementary color schemes use colors opposite each other on the color wheel. To add complexity, play with the value and saturation of these colors.
Split complementary color schemes use colors on either side of the complement.
Triadic color schemes use three colors that form an equilateral triangle on the color wheel. These are often very stark and in-your-face, so you might want to use this type of color scheme in moderation.
Tetradic color schemes use four colors that form a rectangle on the color wheel. These are more effective if one color serves as the main color and the other three colors are just accents.
When choosing a color scheme, the main thing you should keep in mind is balance. Using fewer colors means itāll be easier to balance and thus it is less likely that the piece will appear messy and discordant.
Color has the power of evoking emotions and moods, and each hue and shade has certain connotations associated with it.
In the illustration below - which is part of my April wallpaper set - I use the color green to convey the safety and familiarity of the comfort zone. The color red, on the other hand, shows risk and danger, but it also represents the courage required to get out of the comfort zone.
So the next time youāre thinking of what colors to use in your project, think of what kind of message you want the audience to receive.
Like the other elements weāve discussed so far, type conveys meaning beyond what is written. Type can communicate a mood, style, vibe, or feeling. A curly or script font might appear fancy and extravagant, while a handwritten font may seem raw and playful.
Different types of fonts are also suitable for different contexts. For example, sans-serif fonts are more readable on screen while serif fonts are more readable in print. Display fonts, on the other hand, tend to be fancy and decorative, and thus should only be used for small amounts of text, like titles.
Audience and purpose also serve a role in deciding what fonts to use. Large, bubbly text is suitable for a childrenās birthday party invitation but probably not for a business card.
In graphic design, different fonts are often used in tandem with each other. The main principle or rule behind this is that you should choose fonts that complement each other. Large, bold fonts should be paired with small, subtle fonts. Oftentimes, youāll have to rely on your instincts, and thatās okay.
Remember, though, that you wouldnāt want to overwhelm your readers by using too many fonts. Stick to one or two per project. To add variation, change the weight or style of the existing fonts.
Finally, your text would be more effective if you establish some sort of visual hierarchy. This essentially means sorting out your text in order of importance, using different typefaces and fonts. This includes adding a certain weight (or boldness) or increasing the size of texts that are more significant.
In the title graphic below, the word āpodcastsā is handwritten and larger than the rest of the title because thatās what I want to draw attention to, so that readers know what the post is about. My name, on the other hand, is smaller than the other texts.
Texture adds tactility and depth and can also be used to evoke a certain feel. In this graphic from my March desktop wallpaper, I used a tape texture and a paint texture to achieve a scrapbook-y vibe.
Some other common textures used in designs are foil, watercolor, and paper textures. Although there are many textures to experiment with and choose from, you should also be careful not to overwhelm your viewers with too many textures in one piece.
Lines, shapes, color, text, and texture are the five basic elements of graphic design, and by understanding how these elements work together, youāll be able to make more effective designs.
Now, the question is, do I think deeply about all of this when I make my designs? To be honest, not really. A lot of my designs are instinctual, but knowing the theory behind what Iām doing has helped me improve those instincts, and you can do the same!
Thatās all for now. Hope this helps, and let me know if you would like me to continue the series or if this brief blog post is enough. Happy designing :)
Disclaimer: Iām not a graphic designer, just a stressed-out senior who sometimes likes to design and stuff.
Hey guys, so Iāve been receiving a ton of requests to show my photo-editing process. Itās a little hard to generalize what I do since every photo or photoset undergoes a different process depending on what vibe Iām going for. Despite that, I do have a basic editing style - if you will - that goes something like this.
Click the images for better resolution.
Hope this helps :)

good artist tips
thereās always gonna be someone better than you.Ā try to work less on comparing yourself to their work and instead learning from them and turning envy into a personal challenge for your own stuff. i know its hard, trust me.
the best way to get better at art is to practice. there is no special trick to improving, no secret method. practice makes perfect is a tired old saying that im sure you dont want to hear but unfortunately, its true.
draw as much as you are able to. i wont say draw every day!!! because i know that there are folks that dont have this sort of luxury, whether it be because of physical or mental restrictions, or simply because they dont have time. draw whenever you can and have the strength to. try not to be too upset if you miss a day or a week or even months. shit happens, do the best you are able to.
if you get bored or stuck, try another way. change mediums if you can, flip the canvas, do something weird that you wouldnt normally do. sometimes this is the best way to un-stick yourself from art block.
dont be afraid to ask for help. this is so important! its ok to ask for assistance from other artists you admire (given that they have time to give pointers.) even if asking for help is straight up asking for a redline of your work, its ok to ask for it. improvement doesnt come without outside assistance, more often than not.
references are 100% a legitimate resource. iām not really sure where the idea came from that real artists dont use references, but its not true. every renaissance painter used references in the form of in-house models. disney artists use references of animals and people to correctly model and then correctly exaggerate their designs. you cant learn to draw the world around you without actually studying it. use references, even if its just google searching.
your art is not an island. you will pick up styles from other people like tape picks up pet hair. its inevitable, and its not something that should be seen as a negative. artists inspire other artists. use your discretion, and study what you like about another artistās work. every artistās style is a mashup of a hundred other artists. its ok, experiment.
youre not going to make masterpieces all the time. youre gonna suck more often than not. but youre putting effort into something you enjoy and in the process you are getting better, slowly but surely. you arent going to see your stuff improve overnight, be patient.
please be kind to yourself. you are making a unique form of artistic expression, regardless whether you see it that way or not. youre doing fine, please keep going and pat yourself on the back for getting this far.
