Philippine Sweets
Philippines sweets are pretty much unknown to a lot of people which is a shame because they’re SO GOOD. Practically each region/province has their own version (and name for) these dishes, all of which taste at least slightly (or at most very) different. Not all of the sweets on this list are desserts, most of them are more likely eaten here for merienda (light meal/snack). I chose visually appealing photos for this list, but generally people who prepare these dishes here don’t pay much attention to appearance, so if you ever go here these dishes might look drastically different although they’d of course, taste the same.
Suman – Suman is a rice cake originating from the Philippines. It is made from glutinous rice cooked in coconut milk, and often steamed wrapped in buli or buri palm leaves. It is usually eaten sprinkled with sugar. Wikipedia (img source)
Sans Rival – Sans Rival is a Filipino dessert cake made of layers of buttercream, meringue and chopped cashews. Its name comes from the French phrase with the literal meaning without rival. The cake may be decorated, left plain or garnished with pistachios. This recipe has its roots from Dacquoise. Wikipedia. (img source)
