this post is unironically part of what got me to hyperfixate on aquariums like 4 years ago, during a horrible depressive episode. then i got the opportunity to get a rescue betta, got obsessed with making him a really nice planted tank with shrimp and everything. changed the course of my life

Recently campus kitchen have stopped doing chips for some reason, it’s only wedges, and they’re bad wedges (i’m not the only one that thinks this, i think they might be objectively bad) - so i’m experimenting w meals from the shop.
i’m pretty excited abt this one bc this will be my first monster since before i was preggers in 2021, since i only stopped breastfeeding last week.
i’ll let you know how it goes.
i ate nearly all of it!!! everything was great, i didn’t feel put off all of a sudden or anything (which happened to me during dinner last night).
the only thing i left was the corner part of the crust of one of the sandwiches, i was sick of chewing. but it was agreat lunch, i’d get it again.

i’m a PDA writer and i tried the pomLESSdoro method today; i have *thoughts*
so it’s like the pomodoro method for productivity but a bit more chill. it was devised by some writers on youtube to accomodate their various needs. it goes:
50m writing
10m break
40m writing
10m break
30/10
20/10
10m writing - you get it.
it’s 3hrs total, and that felt like a lot for me this afternoon so i started at 40 and skipped the 20m bc i had to get home.
it’s the closest i’ve tried to the pomodoro, and i think it did a few interesting things for me.
• firstly, even when i was struggling w 40m, i knew that all the sprints after that would get shorter and shorter. it doesn’t sound like a big deal but it was really helpful for overcoming the little troll who lives in my brain and refuses to let me do that which is suggested to me.
• i suspect, though it took a second, it helped bring on that flow-state that i so neurodivergently crave when i’m trying to be productive. it rarely happens ‘on command’ for me so this was great, however…
• it interrupted me! when it was time to take my breaks it was pretty hard to tear myself from working out the little knots i was working on un-tangling as i wrote today. and once i did, it took a minute to get back into it when it was time to start again. i’ll put my hands up and say maybe i didn’t do it properly bc i didn’t make proper use of the breaks. i was using the postgrad study room at the library, which is awkwardly positioned for a walk-around 10m break or getting a drink or whatever, which is usually what i’d do to have a real break.
• i wrote almost 800w in total, which doesn’t seem like much, but i was thinking rlly hard about how to best construct this part of the novel. that and trying to bring a satisfying extract to workshop, rather than some random connecting pieces or re-writes of previously workshopped bits and bobs. but yeah, i wouldn’t say i’ve walked away satisfied with the amount i got done. i feel like a slacker tbh (which is unhelpful shame but there ya go).
anyway if you found this relatable you’ll probably like my book ONCE I MANAGE TO WRITE IT.

i got a lot done, my problem is that I’ve done the whole thing and i’m still not finished with what i need to be finished with. but now i’m tired so starting again at 40m feels coocoo bananas.
tho i did hear that over time the longer sprints start to feel more doable, so maybe i’ll get used to it.
*unfortunately the ten minutes after 40 had me gagging for a ciggy but i normally only smoke v occasionally (and exclusively socially) so idk what’s up with that
