So, with my au, the proxies have to have spiritual protection symbols ( I made most of them up) with them like on jewelry, pins, or buttons due to slender sickness, which doesn't go away when they join. They have red pupils because of his claim on them. Most of the proxies before them haven't lasted long due to the sickness, but due to intensive research, they figured out a slight loop hole. They are fatigued more than anything, but at least they are alive.
