It was Thirty years ago today… The very first gig I had with a band where I played my original songs … The singer drew, Xeroxed and hand-colored each of these fliers and hung them all over the East Village… We drew a crowd of about 40 people - the building was the only one standing amidst almost an entire block of empty lots… The Hell’s Angels were around the corner - we had a forty minute set including a cover of Syd Barrett’s “Baby Lemonade”… I wore a cape, eye makeup and adorned my pants with beads & bandanas - The band broke up shortly thereafter but we all remained good friends (mostly) - I remember Rae Onoannounced Paul McCartney’s birthday at the opening -Anni Paisley threw Froot Loops at Vaughn McMahon - the building doesn’t exist anymore, but I somehow managed to salvage one flier. What memories. –Max Christopher.
