Sweet Helaena, if only you knew what could’ve been…

lyanna should have been kept as rhaegar’s royal mistress AND held hostage in the red keep. elia is portrayed as this ambitious and politically savvy woman, but she’s really just a cersei 2.0 — and she makes mistakes that ultimately cost her her life (as well as that of her children). george essentially blames elia for what happened to her and absolves rhaegar of all responsibility, because he’s his little prince and favorite character who can do no wrong.

how is it politically astute to let your husband publicly humiliate you, to let him run off with a 15-year-old girl (who can’t consent to anything), and to end up held hostage with your children at the mercy of a mad king? it just sounds like bad fanfiction.

As if we haven’t been fighting, analysing and writing for over a DECADE, just to get rid of that racist stigma !!!!!

And yet they fucking used it.

If you just spent more than 10 min on understanding Elia and her role, you would immediately know that it’s far more complex but in that complexity lies the beauty of the story.
