Why do you wear that stupid man suit? â Stiles + Katherine
Stiles swallowed against the lump in his throat awkwardly, keeping his dark-brown eyes locked with Katherine as she stood up from her seat, picking her mug up off of the table. Breathe, Stiles. âD- Donât tell me to breathe, Katherine, alright?â Stiles frowned and shook his head, while he watched her move over to the coffee maker, pouring herself a refill, as if it was the most natural thing to do during a conversation like this. If both of them had been humans, then it had been a completely different thing. He swallowed and stood up straight, crossing his arms over his chest as he continued to keep his brown eyes on her. Â
I havenât done anything to your father, Stiles.
He moved from one foot to the other, obviously quite uncomfortable in the situation. I knocked, he answered, he was kind enough to invite me in for coffee. That was another thing, now that his Dad had invited Katherine in, she had a hell of a lot of power on him and that was something he absolutely hated. If there was one thing he knew about vampires, it was the fact that they had to be invited in to be able to do any damage.
And now, his Dad had invited Katherine in.Â
Things had changed drastically.
No compulsion necessary. He quickly moved over to where Katherine stood, sipping from her mug filled with coffee before she sat it down on the counter beside her. âbe quiet. Dad doesnât know about you or anything else connected to the Supernatural world,â he said and swallowed thickly, âand honestly, I would like it to stay like that.â He had lost one parent, he didnât think he would be able to lose another; he thought. Moving closer to her, he leaned down towards her and whispered, feeling her warm breath on his face, ânow, what is it that you want? Hmm? You didnât just come over here to hear where Iâm applying for college.â
Stiles wasnât stupid. Far from it, in fact. He knew when someone had ulterior motives. Â
What was bothering him more, that she had gotten into his house or that she hadnât had to compel her way into it? Stiles wasnât an idiot, he knew she was more of a threat by not relying on compulsion than she was if she used it as a crutch. Which made his advances on her all the more predictable. He was grasping at whatever inch of control he had left. It was almost offensive, given all sheâd been doing to play nice.
Still, Katherine didnât let out a peep as Stiles scolded her. It might have even been making him feel better, but once all of his questions were out of his system, she couldnât resist taking the teenagerâs command to heart. In what could only be defined as a petty move, Katherine withheld her reply and shot him an infuriatingly vague look, before brushing past him in a lower volume.Â
âWhat about Loyola? You probably want to get into Tulane, but fourth best in Louisiana isnât bad either.â She mused aloud, before rounding the counter to where Stiles had only just been, and running her nails along the border. âScott would have a better chance at getting in.â
âHowâs he doing, by the way? Has he learned to control the cravings yet?â

Despite scanning the room, no one sticks out, and heâs even spied Elena speaking with a well-wisher a few yards away. No phone in hand. What a bizarre experience, to hear her voice in his ear, and see her clearly not talking to him.Â
Heâs done his homework on Katherine, and from what he can tell, she tends to bring bad news like an omen. He doesnât trust her, but heâs not sure he needs to. He needs her for her information, and as far as heâs aware, the right price can buy her honesty. Heâs just worried about what that price is. Heâs already got one deadly creature on Elenaâs tail, heâs not going to add a second.Â
âWhy do I feel like itâs a disaster to have two of you in the same room?â He answers with a sigh. He can add this to the list of things heâs got to talk to Elena about. Where exactly do they stand? âLong story. I presume you called for a reason?â Heâs reluctant to give details on his relationship with the Gilberts to anyone, let alone Elenaâs vampire doppelganger. The catâs out of the bag, what with him standing at the front of the service, but still. Itâs private.Â
Katherineâs gaze flicked back to the unknowing veteran. As she took note of the medals that decorated his suit, she caught the reluctance in his voice.Â
âLook around, John.â Katherine leaned forward, arms spilling onto the empty pew in front of her. âNo one knows Iâm here except you. And you know, if I wanted to make a scene I would have by now.â Then she stood up, careful to move to the wall of the alcove before moving any closer to the balcony. She wanted him to see her, not the father and his friends.Â
âCuriosity.â Katherine purred into her cellphone, before finally taking a calculated step into view. Her eyes lingered on Johnâs until he would spot her.Â
âIndulge me?â
Tell me, father, which to ask forgiveness for: what I am, or what Iâm not? Tell me, mother, which should I regret: what I became, or what I didnât?

To Cast A Shadow ll OPEN
dark-salvatore:
Well⌠when he wasnât getting the cap back, he just took another swig from the bottle, holding it in his hand while it was open. His first reaction was to tell her heâd drive. His car was his and his alone, one of the last securities he had left in this town. He wasnât going to give that up. Until he noticed he had to concentrate while he was walking to make sure he wouldnât crash into the walls or the other people walking in the streets. Crashing his car would fit the time he was having now, but he wasnât willing to give it up. âFine.â, he grumbled. âYouâre drivingâŚâ He dug in his pocket for the key, putting it in her outstretched hand, before frowning and wrecking his brain where he had parked the thing.
âNext street on the left. I believe. I kind of forgot, to be honest.â
Katherineâs smirk fell from her lips as she turned to face Damon again. Her stare flickered between his drooping eyelids and the bottle of liquor sheâd provided. The way he cradled it made it look as if Damon had somehow welded his palm to the glass. Which part of his near death experience was driving him to drink himself stupid? As tempting as it was to press him, Katherine knew better than to ask outright. So she turned back towards the possible direction of his car. Â
Sometime after her second attempt at activating the carâs alarm system, Katherine caught the musical sounds of Damonâs four-door blaring right around the curb. She lifted her finger off the alarm button, and turned left. âLooks like you arenât drunk enough, Damon.â She purred sarcastically, before rounding the car and pulling open the driverâs door.
âSo what does Elena think about you drinking yourself to a stupor?â Katherine finally prodded, conveniently, just as theyâd pulled out of the parking spot.Â
OPENÂ â Nightcall
As of late, New Orleans was as safe as it could ever be. No matter what time of the day it was, what street you were on, if you were a vampire? Strolling in the Crescent Cityâs shadows was as harmless as pacing along your own front yard. For Katherine Pierce, that privilege wasnât entirely unfamiliar. Sheâd come across it a handful of times, waving at it from a distance. In Marcelâs new and improved New Orleans she was closer to it than she had ever been, because she knew something the rest of this city didnât. Marcelâs new and improved New Orleans was having an affair with her former king. Who rightfully deserved the throne? Katherine didnât know and she didnât care. She stepped outside that night comforted by the fact that, as risky as it was, swinging like a pendulum between two monarchs was a step up from hiding from their shadows.
Marcelâs nightwalkers were out on another bender that night, one she had been all too happy to orchestrate. Keeping his guys happy was a part of the job description, but Katherine only joined them when she had to. Too many petty fights came out of group feeding, and at the weekâs end, with Motherâs Day ironically right around the corner, her interests were almost exclusively waiting for her at the hotel room she called home. Katherine was halfway across the street from her car when she smelled it - Blood. One drop, then another, unmistakably landed on the asphalt. And as tempting as it was to ignore it, her paranoia won out. Katherine picked her heels up, and treaded silently around the corner.Â

Why do you wear that stupid man suit? â Stiles + Katherine
sarcasticsxtiles:
Stiles stared at Katherine, who shot him a smirk and he didnât understand what the hell the brunette was up to. He swallowed and glanced over at his Dad, who seemed to be under a spell. He looked completely out of it. The look on his face, puzzled as he stared at Stiles, made him frown and shake his head as he stood a step back, continuing to keep his arms over his chest. At least he didnât seem hurt. He didnât look like he was bleeding nor did he look like he had any wounds, which meant that Katherine hadnât done anything to him. So, that was good. We made a meeting, remember? To go over your options for college.Â
What on Earth was Katherine up to? Wait, did I get the date wrong? Stiles pressed his lips into a thin line. If there was one thing that Stiles knew, it was that Katherine was not his school counselor. He had an old man, who was missing a tooth and who didnât know how to smile. He definitely didnât look like Katherine, thatâs for sure. I could have sworn it was today. I wrote it down somewhere â Stiles watched as she lifted her bag onto the table before she began to look through it and he knew it was all just a game. A show for his Dad. Iâm uh, sure Stiles can do today, right? He swallowed and watched as his Dad moved over to where he stood, putting his hand on top of his shoulder and giving him a gentle pat on the back. Stiles kept his eyes on his Dad the whole time and didnât really say a hell of a lot, but then, his Dad spoke, which made Stiles frown. Heâll do it.
He narrowed his brown eyes and turned to look at Katherine, who placed her purse back down and smiled at her Dad, which made Stiles close his fists tightly against the side of his waist. Iâll let you two get started. The young male cleared his throat and frowned as his Dad began to move out of the room, letting the two of them have some privacy. He had seen the smugness on her face and Stiles was fuming. Weâve got so much to talk about. Stiles kept his eyes on his Dad, and as soon as he left the room, he turned around and quickly moved over to where Katherine stood, placing his hands down on the table as he stared the female down. âWhat the hell do you think youâre doing? Huh? You keep your hands off my Dad, or I swear to God Katherine, Iâll ââ,â Stiles spoke in a threatening tone of voice as he kept his eyes narrowed at her. His heart was pounding against his chest and he tried to calm himself down but it was getting more difficult. âThis was never part of any deal you and I have had, alright? I never said you were allowed to get near my Dad. And whatever youâre doing to him, stop!â He had read up a little bit about what vampires could do, the whole compelling ordeal and it was obvious that it was something she had done to him. âStop messing with his head.âÂ
As Stiles advanced on her, Katherine stood from her seat and picked her mug up off the table. âBreathe, Stiles.â She cooed the moment he paused. This was a new side to him. She knew he was a bit jittery, but the more time she spent with Stiles the more she noticed his constant anxious nature. Thatâs what you get when you surround yourself with werewolves and vampires.Â
âThis was never part of any deal you and I have had, alright? I never said you were allowed to get near my Dad. And whatever youâre doing to him, stop!â Katherine made her way over to his fatherâs coffee maker and poured herself a refill, eyes lifting back up at him as Stiles got whatever threats he had out of his system. Another thing she was getting used to, clarifying.
âI havenât done anything to your father, Stiles.â
âI knocked, he answered, he was kind enough to invite me in for coffee.â Lifting the mug to her lips, Katherine took one sip of the hot dark brew before crinkling her nose and setting it back down on the counter. âNo compulsion necessary.â

âYes, itâs been hard on them, butâŚâ He trailed off. But what? âTheyâre sticking together, and you know, sometimes thatâs the best you canââ He broke off as his phone started ringing, and narrowed his eyes at the screen. If she had anything to do with Jennaâs deathâŚÂ
âWould you excuse me just a moment, family lawyer,â he said, wincing as if he was sorry. As wary as he was to be accepting a call from Katherine Pierce at the moment, the interruption was a bit of a relief. He mustâve repeated the same script a thousand times by now.Â
âWhaââ He broke of as she spoke, turning around as if heâd be able to spot her in the crowd. It seemed like all of St. Aloysius had shown up for the service, and of course, wherever she was, she wasnât sticking out. âYouâre here? Is now really the best time?â He hissed.Â
Katherine smirked at the way John turned on his heel, eyes chasing the room for a tall brunette identical to the one sniffling around the corner. He was hardly so edgy under sedation. Still peering down at him from where she sat from the second floor, Katherine tilted her head, reclining it lazily against her phone. âYour eyes were glazing over, John.â She cooed innocently, sharp nails chipping at the splintered edge of the pew in front of her. âIâm merely doing my part as a citizen, here to support the Gilbert family, which...â
âYou seem to be a part of now?â
The Etiquette Club ll Kat + Quentin
wolfwandering:
wolfwandering:
His body tensed as she edged closer, and Quentin couldnât tell what he hated more; his own visceral reaction to this invasion of his space, or the fact that the vampire seemed to know exactly the effect she was having on him.
âWell Iâm different, yâsee. I like âem⌠Rules, that is.â He told her gruffly, lying through his teeth. Since when did he count as anything remotely close to law-abiding?⌠But if it meant keeping his ass out of trouble, heâd damn well cherry-pick his rules. âNever been one of those âyoloâ types.â Quentin added, clearing his throat as he debated whether it was high time he drag his gaze off of her, or whether the she-vamp would consider that a victory. Whatever Katherine Pierce already held over him, he didnât want to give her that. âWhich means if the answerâs ânoâ then yâainât gonna get much outta me either.â The man trailed off as she tilted her head up until her face was mere centimeters away from his own. His eyes dropped instinctively to her mouth, muscles all but locking in place. He didnât move.
⌠Heâd stolen many things in his life, but a kiss wasnât one of them.
As unconvincing as his speech was at the start, suggesting he may just be indifferent to what she offered sent a quiet sort of motivation thrumming through her. Katherine hadnât survived five hundred years driven by a thirst to prove herself, she definitely hadnât survived by making compromises... But in the way that  c h a l l e n g e s made up the sum of her lifetimes, so did besting them, until the latter was nothing short of natural instinct, a reflex; want harder, when just wanting isnât enough.Â
The thrumming grew louder, just as Quentinâs gaze fell to her mouth. And then her lips caught his with a bang like a firecracker, mouth soft, tongue scalding. Katherineâs hands traveled from the nape of his neck to both sides of his face, and in doing so, kept him there with her, as she stole his kiss right out from under him.Â

Why do you wear that stupid man suit? â Stiles + Katherine
sarcasticsxtiles:
Stiles had been out, getting a pair of new headphones ( as well as some other stuff ) when his Dad had sent him a text and asked him if he was coming home anytime soon. That had of course surprised Stiles, seeing as his Dad never really texted him, unless something was up. Something bad. So, he quickly texted his Dad back, telling him that he would be back in thirty-forty minutes or so. Here you go. Lifting his gaze, the young, dark-haired male smiled softly at the man in front of him, standing on the other side of the desk. âThank you,â Stiles said and grabbed the plastic bag, before making his way out of the store and towards the parking lot, where he had left his car behind twenty minutes ago. What on Earth was it that his Dad wanted him home for? Was something wrong? Had something happened to him at work? Was he having trouble with some of the managers again? Had they noticed how his breath would sometime smell like alcohol? He shook his head and as soon as he got to the jeep, he quickly climbed inside of the vehicle, closing the door behind him.
Of course he was running late, but in his defense, it wasnât because of him for once. The road back home were undergoing some developments, so it was getting closer to forty-forty five minutes instead of the usual thirty-thirty five that it took to get back home. Approaching the house, Stiles parked in front of the garage, jumped outside with his newly bought stuff in his hands before he walked over to the front door. Opening the door, he entered the hallway and quickly got out of his shoes while leaving his things on the bench they had there. âDad! Iâm home! What on Earth was so important that I had to rush home, huh?â he questioned as he walked into the kitchen, but the sight that had met him had almost knocked him over. âK-Katherine? What are you â what are you doing here?â Stiles asked and narrowed his brown eyes a little, analyzing the scene happening in front of him. Noticing the drinks that they had in their hands, and obviously shared, and the stupid grin his Dad had on his face made him roll his eyes. Stiles. Come sit. Your Dad was just telling me a little more about you.Â
Stiles let an awkward huff leave his lips while he crossed his arms over his chest. What on Earth was Katherine doing in his kitchen? Talking to his Dad? Obviously she had some sort of ulterior motive. That had to be it, right? After-all, Katherine didnât seem like the type of person who just showed up at peopleâs houses for a little chat. He walked over to the table, grabbing the back of the chair, leaning his hands down against the frame while he looked at Katherine the whole time. Mouthing at her, âwhat do you think youâre doing?â Stiles blinked and turned to look at his Dad, who looked like a fourteen year old boy in love. Katherine was pretty and it was obvious that his Dad thought so too.
Katherine shot Stiles a subtle smirk, refraining from playing a game of charades in front of his father. Mr. Stillinski narrowly missed the puzzled look on his sonâs face, and though it was a good thing that Stilesâ initial reaction to her dropping by hadnât been to expose her, she knew for act to work, sheâd have to take the reigns. Even if Stiles did agree to play along with her, there was no sure way of telling whether or not heâd back out of her pretend somewhere down the line, or wind up ensuring that his dad would stick around while she tried to play catch up. And though compulsion was always handy, Katherine mostly used it for insurance.Â
âWe made a meeting, remember? To go over your options for college.â She hinted, her tone lacking in itâs usual smokiness. But before Stiles could back out or play along, Katherine piggybacked on his confusion. âWait, did I get the date wrong?â She asked, before lifting her bag off the side of the dining chair and rummaging through it as if looking for a planner, or a phone. âI could have sworn it was today. I wrote it down somewhere--âÂ
âIâm uh, sure Stiles can do today, right?â His father interrupted then. Katherine lifted her gaze from her purse and watched as the older man moved to stand beside his son. âI mean, yâcame all this way, Kathie.â With a pat on Stilesâ back, Mr. Stillinski muttered the three words she had been counting on. âHeâll do it.â
Katherine placed her purse back on the end of the chair and smiled gratefully at the man who had eaten right off the palm of her hand. âGreat.â She smiled. âIâll let you two get started.â
âThank you, Mr. Stillinski.â Looking over at Stiles, Katherine let a hint of smugness show through her facade for the first time.  âWeâve got so much to talk about.â

ââJohn Alden, Iâm a friend of the familyâs.â He said, shaking the next person in lineâs hand. Heâd said it so many times by this point it hardly felt awkward anymore. âThank you for coming, it means a lot to the kids. Very nice to meet you, Elena and Jeremy are rightâ yep, just around the corner.â He grimaced and resisted checking his watch. He was pretty sure they still had about an hour left of the memorial. He was doing his best to play host, directing people where to go, thanking them for their thoughts and prayers, but it was hard when he hardly knew any of these people. He wasnât a part of this family, no matter how they split it. Still, it was what he could do.Â
âHi, thank you so much for coming,â he said again, shaking the next hand in line.Â
ââJohn Alden, Iâm a friend of the familyâs.â Katherine listened, disinterested. Another advocate for the Gilbert family...Elena really burnt through parental figures, didnât she? As she looked between John and the coffin at the altar, Katherine wondered if her newest ally might already be compromised. Perfect Elena wouldnât hesitate to drop a few bombs on him about her past with the Gilbert Family, and digging herself out of that hole was an entirely different game plan.
Though, the hunter did look miserable. Maybe she could provide a little excitement. Peering over the balcony, Katherine pulled her phone out of her purse and rang the number sheâd tracked down a few days before their first rendezvous at the hospital. Once John picked up the phone, Katherine made herself comfortable, crossing her legs and reclining against the pew she was well concealed in.
