itâs been a week since choso has seen you. he was kind of avoiding you. girls like you didnât like choso. girls like you made fun of him in the hallway or laughed to their friends as he walked by. and he was well aware of that. so he did something he did often. he hid.
occasionally, sukuna would sit with his nephews for dinner after work. yuji would yap, choso would mainly listen. tonight was different tho. yuji was on a regular tangent.
âand iâm getting good at surfing. iâm a natural she says. iâm better at surfing than satoru is!â
âsatoruâŚ? i donât recognize that name. heâs not an islander?â sukuna chimes in.
âno heâs visiting. he comes along when we hang out.â
chosoâs mood changes.
âsatoru is so cool tho so i donât mind that heâs hanging out with us. he bought me a new board for surfing. he said it was a gift!â
âyuji donât take things from strangers.â choso mumbles under his breath.
âheâs not a stranger. heâs a friend.â
âyou barely know him. donât call him a friend.â
âheâs my third best friend.â
âi thought i was your third best friend.â
âyouâre my brother. itâs different.â
yuji would always talk about his top three list of friends. before the island. he had two first best friends. megumi and nobara were his best friends and they were tied for first place. when they got to the island, choso was bumped from second place to third after yuji met you. he didnât mind. but now yuji didnât consider him a best friend. choso wasnât sure how to feel. sukuna sensed the tension in the air.
âuncle kuna, can i go to see them after dinner?â
âitâs late yuji. iâm sure you and choso can find something to do.â
yuji sighed and that little act broke his heart.
âitâs fine, sukuna-â
âuncle sukuna.â choso never understood why sukuna was so strict with being called his uncle.
âuncle sukuna..â he corrects himself. âif yuji wants to go. i donât mind. i think iâm just gonna go to bed or something. no point in keeping him in here if he doesnât want to be here.â
choso finished eating before getting up and washing off his plate. he headed to his room with his head low. he heard the front door open and close which let him know yuji had left.
after about an hour to his thoughts, sukuna knocked on the door. sukuna waited for a response before he opened the door.
âmy nephewâs a punk.â
ââŚwhat..?â
âlisten. iâm not jin. iâm not my brother. if you were my son, you wouldnât act like this. youâre a grown man. how old are you again? 19? 20?â
â20.â
âwhen i was your age, if i wanted something i took it. even now! if i want something, i take it. i donât sulk in my room like a punk.â
âsukuna-â
âi am your uncle. and iâm getting real tired of you not referring to me as such.â
choso didnât mean to get loud but he did.
âyouâre not my uncle! jin isnât my father. yuji is barely my brother. iâm here for the summer because i have to be!â
âyou donât have to do shit. youâre a grown ass man. youâre emotional. i donât care about any of that shit. youâre not gonna get loud with me in my house and youâre not going to disrespect my brother. the man that raised you! youâre upset because you think yuji is replacing you or whatever your problem is. man up.â
âyou donât know shit about me.â
âwhoâs fault is that? you donât tell anyone shit and then wanna hide away in this room.â
choso stayed quiet. he wasnât really sure what to say. he didnât plan on telling sukuna anything tho.
âwhen you man the fuck up and decide to tell anyone anything youâll finally understand what the fuck family is for. you werenât given a real family at first but you have one now. appreciate it.â
and with that sukuna left. choso wasnât sure where he went but the house was quiet.
choso missed his brothers. all of them.
yuji was oblivious to what was happening in the house. he was on a late night swim with you and satoru.
it was a calm night (for everyone except choso at least) and you loved night swims.
satoru was a interesting guy. he was on vacation and decided to visit the island. he came from wealth and had wealth. he wasnât afraid to flash it either. but there was something about him that didnât get you going.
âyou enjoy it here?â you ask everyone that question.
âyou make it enjoyable.â
âthatâs the only reason you like it here?â
ânah. i like the beaches. itâs gorgeous here. especially the women.â
âyouâre a flirt.â
you and satoru were sitting by shore while yuji swam every so often. after a while yuji came to sit with the two of you.
âyuji⌠howâs your brother been?â you ask.
âbrotherâŚ?â gojo questions.
âyeah i have my big brother choso. heâs usually inside tho.â
âyuji and his cool older brother.â you joke (not really a joke) but satoru didnât really find it funny.
âyuji itâs getting late. shouldnât you be in bed?â satoru was trying to find an excuse to get you alone.
âiâll probably end up just walking yuji home. i havenât seen choso of sukuna in a while. itâll be nice to say hi.â you respond.
ârightâŚâ
after a while you and yuji started packing up. satoru helped of course and even offered to walk yuji home with you. yuji was happy about it so the three of you walked to sukunaâs house.
yuji opened the door to choso not too far away.
âhi choso! itâs been a while!â you beamed.
âhey. yeah sorry about that. not much has really gon on iâve been in here mostly.â before choso could continue, he noticed the unfamiliar blond.
âgojo.â satoru said when he noticed choso staring.
awkwardâŚ
âwe wanted to make sure yuji got back safe. not like the island isnât safe itâs just that⌠you knowâŚâ you tried to find the right words but everything felt stuck.
âmhm.â choso said simply. why is he so nonchalant? you hated it.
âgoodnight choso! bye yuji!â yuji gave you a hug before walking off. choso said faint goodbyes before he closed the door.
everyday was about the same for you. you woke up early, you got ready. this specific morning you woke up at 5:30 right as the sun rose. you did your routine and fixed your curls before putting on your favorite bathing suit adding a pair of black shorts and your uniform polo.
you worked part time at a bait and tackle shop so the uniform was slightly lenient. you sold things to the fishermen whoâd come or the surfers who needed better supplies. it paid alright⌠enough to get by.
when you were still in school you were a student worker who taught the younger kids how to surf. you missed that job but itâs always been considered an entry level job so many people reserved it for the younger kids.
thatâs why you loved having yuji around.
you have lived on this island all your life. you were raised with animals in your ocean and fresh fruit from your garden. yes there were downsides to being on this island but in your heart you were forever an island girl.
we can talk about the hardships in school or the natural disasters that scared you when you were young but yuji didnât need to know any of this.
you told yuji about the beauty. about traditions and about how the summer is important to you.
âiâm not in school anymore but when i was around your age, id come home from classes and do my homework. id work fast just so i could come out here and play in the sea.â
âhow come you wanna leave for college?â
yuji was right. you did want to leave even though your love will always be this island.
âi love the water. i love the ocean. but iâve been here all my life. i want to travel. see the world. i can see the ocean in other places.â
your heart and soul lives in the ocean. when your parents were fighting, you had the sea.
you and yuji were in the middle of the sea with him placed carefully on a surf board. yuji made sure to buy a pair of matching swim trunks so he could âmatch his favorite surferâ.
âdo you like it here, yuji?â
âi love it here. i wish choso could also have fun here.â
âheâll warm up.â
you werenât sure if you believed that. you interacted with choso once in the past and it wasnât pleasant.
you end up being yuji back to shore before sitting on the blanket he had set out for the both you.
as you and yuji talk you look back and see an awkward choso standing far by the road.
you watch the boy as he walks closer to you two. when he finally reaches the blanket⌠he just stands there. you take note of his belly piercing.
âhi cho!â yuji breaks the silence. âsheâs been teaching me how to surf.â
âheâs a natural.â you add on.
choso stood there, trying to find the best words.
âsukuna says i should be out more so here i am.â he sounds miserable.
he sits on the blanket in a way that causes you to have to sit up. god⌠he wished you didnât do that.
choso has obviously been around women. his dad kenjaku would bring home women all the time. you were a different kind of beauty and you hated him.
hate is a strong word but thatâs the only energy choso felt coming from you.
the air around choso is deafening. silence filled with soft conversations between you and yuji.
after a while yuji got up and started heading to the water. leaving choso and you behind.
choso was the first to speak his way found the nape of his neck and he felt as if a boulder was on his chest.
âuh⌠iâm really sorry about the other day. i didnât mean to be rude itâs just-â
âyouâre good. donât worry.â
your voice was like honey. you had a slight accent influenced by the language surrounding you. how could someone seem so carefree?
âare you enjoying yourself?â
ââŚwhat..?â
âon the island? do you like it here? yuji does.â
âum⌠not really..â
âhonest. i was telling your brother that youâd warm up. can you swim? we know yuji can.â
oh youâre trynna be funny.
choso isnât too sure how to respond.
he can feel you staring at him waiting for a response but you take his silence as a no. you stand up, dusting sand of yourself as you head to the water.
heâs hesitant to follow but does cautiously. yuji was still near the shore but you walk by in settling further into the water.
the water was freezing. sand was everywhere. choso hated every second of it.
âcold.?â your voice made choso jump. âitâll warm up when youâre in for long enough.â
âiâm not really a beach guyâŚâ
âwhat kind of guy are you? you canât swim, canât you? when youâre a baby here, you get thrown into the water and they see how long you can fend for yourself.â
âsounds dystopian.â
âno itâs how you learn. swimming is a natural instinct. you swim in the womb. you swim in the sea.â
âiâm not a mermaid.â
âdude. iâm trying to be nice to you.â you laugh awkwardly.
choso panics but before he can say anything youâre under the water.
next he looked, you and yuji were further into the water.
to his own surprise, he slowly went deeper into the water.
âsee i told you heâd warm up.â he hears you say to yuji.
âiâm gonna be honest. i donât know how to swim.â
âi know. i figured. you can stay by the board.â
âŚ
choso wonât admit it but he had fun.
yuji was laid napping on the blanket while you and choso sat around him.
âhow come yuji can swim and you canât?â it was a personal question. far more comfortable than choso liked.
âhe took classes. i didnât.â
you hummed.
âi promise you iâm not as mean as i may seem.â choso added.
you donât respond.
âi should get yuji back to sukunaâs.â
âchoso, if you want to meet more people here⌠you have to try. i think everyone here is friendly. maybe iâm biased but i think if you give this island a chance youâll enjoy it.â
before choso can respond youâre already up packing your things.
choso felt like an idiot. yuji was right he fumbled. he did the one thing he knew how to do. he called kento.
âdude youâre never gonna guess what happened to me!â
kento was stuck in summer classes. well⌠not stuck. he enjoyed learning but there was something about actually working that he hated.
âa distraction from this essay! whatâs up man?â kento was just happy to step away from his laptop.
âyuji has made friends with, by far, the prettiest girl iâve ever seen.â
ânormal. yujiâs a magnet.â
âthatâs not the bad part. i yelled at her.â
kento goes silent and for a second choso thinks his phone cut off.
âhello..?â
âyou⌠yelled at her?â kentoâs voice dragged a bit.
âitâs a long story. i thought she was making fun of me.â choso tried to explain himself but heâll never forget the look kento gave him.
âmaybe sheâs not actually that pretty and youâre imagining it because youâre away from home. youâre stressing for nothing. after the summer you wonât see her again.â
âken you donât know what youâre talking about. you havenât even seen her.â
âwhat she look like?â by now kento had made his way to his kitchen and started snacking on a pastry.
âwait i think yuji might follow her.â
âwhy does yuji have instagram?â
choso didnât even answer the question because he wasnât sure what the answer was.
âokay i sent it.â
kento sighs.
âwhatâs the island called again? iâm pulling up.â
âdude what do i do? i genuinely think she hates me!â
âthe ball is not in your court. pass it to me. genuinely what island are you on? is that yuji in her latest post?â
âyouâre not helping! like actually youâre not helping.â
âyou yelled at her. iâd hate you too.â kento continued snacking before pushing up his glasses.
choso was so close to hanging up. all he could do was sigh.
âtalk to her. make things less awkward. she spends everyday with yuji. find a way to join. she doesnât hate you she doesnât know you.
itâs been a week since yuji met you. yuji had a problem. his brother was a loser. wellâŚhe wouldnât call choso a loser. but yuji knew his brother couldnât get girls by himself. his brother was twenty and never brought home a girl. this is where yuji comes in!
of course it was yujiâs job to help his brother. yuji loved you. you were like a big sister he didnât have. but if yuji played his cards right you could be like his sister for real. with the help of choso.
âheâs not mean! he didnât mean to yell last time. he was being protective!â
you and yuji were by the water. something that became a daily activity for the two of you. yuji always tried to make it cute. heâd set out his blanket and his books and would even bring his favorite snacks. you always made sure to bring local fruits for him.
âlook yuji⌠iâm a lady. and thereâs ways you speak to ladies. thatâs not a way you speak to ladies.â
âheâs not used to speaking to ladies!â
yuji was a characterâŚ
âheâs awkward. heâs not mean! dad says heâs just anti social. he needs time.â yuji thinks heâs saying something smart but itâs just what he heard jin say.
choso was awkward but he didnât mean to be. when choso was young, his âbiologicalâ father wasnât the nicest. he hated that word. no matter what anybody said jin was his father. but before jin, yuji, and choso⌠there was kenjaku, eso, kechizu, and choso.
kaori and kenjaku met through a dating app and as one thing lead to another, choso was born. at first kaori and kenjaku lived peacefully with baby choso but one morning kaori woke up and her baby was gone.
yuji didnât know this but before choso was an older brother to yuji, he was an older brother to eso and kechizu.
when choso was 4, eso and kechizu came into his life. he wouldnât admit it but he wasnât happy at first. kenjaku would leave for days so choso had to man up and deal with the two younger boys.
when choso was 5, kenjaku said in passing. âyou have a few other brothers out there too. noranso, sho-oso, tanso, sanso, kotsuso and shoso. their mothers are smarter than yours tho. they took them.â those words rang in his head violently. a rage filled his heart, one he was too young to understand. thatâs when choso decided to stop talking.
when choso was 6, he did what he had to do. he fed his brothers. he educated them. his brothers, both 2 at the time, were too young to appreciate him. but he did everything. he loved them more than anything. he did all he could to protect his younger brothers. until one morning, choso woke up and eso and kechizu were gone.
he waited three weeks alone before kenjaku came home.
âwhereâs eso and kechizu?â he asked. he had never felt such fear.
âgone.â kenjaku said, not a hint of emotion in his voice.
âwill they be back?â
ânope.â
choso never saw his two brothers again.
when choso was 7, he saw his mom again. kenjaku and choso had moved in with kaori after some conversation. he barely knew the woman but being around her was everything to him.
she was kind. the kind of woman whoâs make him soup when he was sick or feed him when he was hungry or stay by his side when it thundered. she gave him a kindness he had never felt.
one night choso was woken up by a bang. loud noises became louder and kaori rushed into his room. kenjaku wanted to leave in the middle of the night again with choso but kaori wouldnât let him. that night is repressed somewhere in chosoâs mind.
in a single night, chosoâs entire world flipped.
when choso was 8, he met jin. jin was so different from kenjaku. if jin said heâd come to chosoâs recital, jin was there. if choso wanted ice cream, jin was there. if choso wanted to show off his favorite band tee, jin was there with a camera in hand.
when choso was 10, yuji was born. choso didnât think he deserved yuji. he messed up so badly with eso and kechizu. why should he be given another chance with yuji? he was scared. nobody around him even knew who eso and kechizu were but choso thought about them often. he wonders if they were dead and if itâs all his fault. he couldnât protect them.
when choso was 13, he technically became an orphan. well for a few weeks after his mom died, thatâs what heâd call himself. an orphan.
âiâm a mentally delayed orphan. nanami, thereâs no help for me. maybe my dad knocked me upside my head too much.â
âyouâre not mentally delayed or an orphan. that man wasnât your dad. jin is! the man whoâs raised you for the past 5 years of your life!â nanami argued but he knew heâd never truly understand what choso went through.
âjin isnât my dad. not by blood, not on paper. my mom is dead and my dad might as well be. the court says theyâre gonna try to figure it out soon.â
âdude donât say that. you know jin, your dad, is going to do something! your birthday is tomorrow and things will be figured out by your dad.â
and nanami was right.
jin woke him up with a cake and a birthday surprise.
âchoso. will you be my son? legally. i know things are rough but you have been my son since the day i met you and-â
choso was sobbing. his words jumbled as he spoke. he was gasping for air and jin pulled him in.
why would such a great man want a son like him?
choso cried for days. he didnât go to school. he stayed by his dadâs side.
chosoâs life was different. chosoâs life was better but some scars stay forever.
âŚ
now choso was 20 and stuck on an island. his younger brother having fun on the beach while he stayed in.
one night sukuna his uncle sat next to him.
âso kid⌠whatâs your deal?â
âmy deal..?â
âyeah. you stay in here sulking. youâre not ugly if thatâs what youâre worried about. go out there and have fun or something. you canât stay in here all pent up. thatâs no way for a man to live. when i was your age i already had my first baby mama.â
what is this dude talking about?
âsukunaâŚâ
âiâm your uncle. call me as such.â
âuncle sukuna⌠i have no idea what youâre talking about.â
âyouâre not ugly. but you are pale. you have to go outside and tan and youâll get some play. these island girls like their men tanned. itâs what theyâre used to. you gotta have confidence and suave just like your uncle. i never had problems with the ladies. only female officers but thatâs because theyâre confused. they donât know if they should work or give into their womanly instincts.â
again what is this dude talking about?
the conversation ended with sukuna forcing the boy outside.
he made his way to beach where he saw you and yuji by the sea. you two looked deep in conversation. yuji was holding a fruit almost the size of him while you laid on your stomach talking.

summer was finally here and choso couldnât be happier. he had finished high school two years ago and was stuck doing online classes he didnât care about. he was ready to have some sense of freedom. untilâŚ
âitâs only for this summer, buddy. sukuna lives on a nice island. iâm sure youâll find kids your age!â jin stays optimistic. choso hated it.
he hung out with kento nanami for the last time for the summer. kento was his only friend or at least thatâs how choso viewed it. they met in middle school and nanami hasnât left his side since.
he was more than upset by the arrangement. him and nanami were sitting in the skate park as he raved on about the unfortunate events.
âmy dad rarely even mentions his brother. all i know is he has a criminal background and had to flee to some island.â
âdonât be so down about it. who knows who youâll find on that island?â kento and choso were like yin and yang.
choso turned 18 and went a little wild with the piercings. he had four ear piercings on each side including his helix. he had his eyebrow pierced, a gauged septum, and a snake bite piercings one on each side of his lower lip.
kento had one piercing. a lope he had gotten when choso was too scared to do it by himself.
choso didnât wanna go home. going home meant packing for his inevitable trip to the island. he hated the heat. he hated the beach and the sand.
reluctantly, choso walked back home with nanami by his side. the two hugged before choso finally unlocked the door. he walked in cautiously before an energetic yuji came running.
âcho! iâm all packed up! weâre gonna be on the beach with the sand! you have to help me collect seashells!â at least one of them was excited.
the house was almost empty. yujiâs room fully packed up and jinâs room still neat except for the empty closet. chosoâs room still needed to be packed up. he starts slowly with summer clothes he hated wearing.
after choso finished packing he sat on his bed stuck in thought. he heard a light knocking on his door before his dad came in.
âyouâre growing up. i know itâs hard but this opportunity isnât just good for me. its good for all three of us.â
choso sighed. he really didnât want to go.
âyuji and i can stay here. i know how to handle him.â
âitâs not just about handling him, choso. youâre young. he shouldnât be your priority. i promise you youâll have more fun than you think. you know i met your mom on a trip?â
jin sat by choso giving the boy both space and comfort.
âyou were still young. younger than yuji even. i was in the city for work and i saw her. you look so much like her.â
choso hated when he said that. who else was he supposed to look like?
âshe gave me the two most important things in my entire life. you and yuji. youâre going to have fun i promise you that.â choso embraced his father for a hug. no matter how old choso was, heâd always be jinâs little boy.
the ride to the airport was quiet besides yujiâs constant comments. choso was stuck in thought. occasionally heâd text nanami telling him how upset he was but nanami would tell him everything would be okay which gave choso the smallest relief.
the plane ride was also quiet, little yuji falling asleep with his headphones on.
âyouâll have more fun than you think.â those words echoed in chosoâs mind. he hoped his dad was right.
âŚ
meeting sukuna was nerve wracking. he was taller than jin and more muscular. maybe from his time in prison.
he was a stoic man who greeted the two boys with a simple grunt. âyouâre skinny, kid. does that man not feed you?â sukuna asked. choso wasnât sure how to answer.
the layout of the house was nice. it gave the two young boys separate rooms. the home was bigger than choso expected. he also didnât expect sukuna to put him to work. the garden needed tending to. yuji was âtoo smallâ (sukunaâs words) to handle any work so it was all on choso. he hated every second.
before he knew it yuji was off to the near beach.
âiâm going to step out for a second. youâre a man you can take care of yourself.â choso wished his father thought that way too.
finished up the work around the house was simple but tedious. after hours, choso was done and yuji was still gone.
choso had alone time to finally do something heâd enjoy. he called kento.
âdude i hate it here. iâm stuck doing shit as if iâm some kind of laborer while yujiâs at the beach.â
âyou donât even like the beach.â
âbut still! iâve been doing housework as if iâm cinderella. this is supposed to be the âsummer of my dreamsâ but thereâs nothing to do here!â
âgo outside man! youâre bitching over being on an island while iâm stuck in summer courses! iâd kill to be far away right now!â
kento was sadly right. choso needed to do something with his time here. after a while the two hung up as choso spend his time on the games he had brought from home.
all was fine until yuji came home holding hands with an unfamiliar face.
/// a.n this takes place before âhate..? at first sightâ a little intro to my version of choso! trust guys weâll learn more about our little island girl soon.
choso was so upset by the arrangement. sukuna was demanding, forcing him to work in the garden or around the house.
choso hated every second especially since sukuna wasnât technically his uncle. yeah jin raised him, he called jin dad, but by blood⌠sukuna and him were not related.
when choso was younger, kaori (him and yujis mother) was with chosoâs biological father. choso had other brothers from his dad but when his dad left, kaori refused to let him take choso.
he misses his other brothers sometimes but heâd never tell yuji or jin that. when choso was eight, kaori met jin and two years later yuji was born. choso loved yuji more than anything. a little brother just for him.
when kaori passed, choso was scared. why would jin continue to take care of a child that wasnât his? but jin never treated him differently. he never made him feel bad for his dad running out or his mom dying and leaving him with an awkward teenager he didnât need. when choso was 14 and jin officially adopted him, he cried of joy for days. when choso was 16 and his mental health and anxiety got bad, jin stayed by his side for days telling him how important he was.
anyone who knew jin knew he had two sons, his oldest choso and his youngest yuji. choso was more than happy about that.
when jin told choso theyâd be staying with sukuna he was surprised. jin didnât speak much of sukuna but choso was willing to give it a try. he regretted it bad.
choso finally got a break from housework as sukuna wasnât home and yuji was by the water. he finally was able to hook his game up to the tv that sukuna put in the room he was staying in.
he was playing for a while before he heard the door upon followed by yujiâs loud voice.
âand my dad is off on a business trip so weâre here. i like the water itâs so fun.â
choso was a bit scared.
âyuji who are you talking to?â he yelled out.
when yuji didnât answer he got even more scared and jumped out of bed. he didnât expect to make eye contact with the prettiest girl heâs ever seen. he canât move. he canât speak. heâs in his pajamas at 3 in the afternoon while youâre in a floral bathing suit. heâs embarrassed.
you start speaking âiâm so sorry. i was by the water andâŚâ why are you apologizing? his mind raced and he could barely hear what youâre saying.
he feels you look him up and down and can feel like disgust coming from your tone. you can barely even look at him. his anxiety was worse than it had been in ages.
you turn to yuji, âi donât live too far but be careful by the sea. iâd rather you find me to take you out than to have you in the water by yourself!â
âŚ
are you judging him?
âwhatâs that supposed to mean?â choso finally find his voice. heâs not a bad brother why are you making it seem like such.
âhe was literally drowning when i first saw him.â sheâs so rude. choso knows that canât be true. he remembers being forced to go to every swim lesson for this boy.
âyouâre lying. yuji knows how to swim.â why would yuji pretend to not know how to swim?
âwell it didnât seem like it when i saw him.â how could someone be so rude? choso knows his little brother. choso knows yuji can swim. if it were a different story with bowling or something bizarre, choso wouldnât doubt the girl. but yuji knows how to swim.
before he could say anything else you were saying bye to yuji and were out the door.
pretty girls are mean.
yuji dramatically sighs. âbro! you fumbled. i do all this hard work for you and you scare her off!â
what..?
âbro what are you talking about. you donât even know her. the first thing i tell you is not talking to strangers and you bring one to sukunaâs house! how is he gonna react when he finds out you had a random person here !? you know how to swim. why are you acting clueless?â his voice raised before he could even process how loud he was being.
âsheâs not random! sheâs local! she knows all about the island and she lives down the street. i tried to gas you up and make you seem cool and you scared her! the pool and the beach are different kinds of water! the wave got me!â
before choso could react, yuji ran into his room.
it was gonna be a long summer.
///// a.n. itâs so crazy how differently the two see this event.
you donât know what you got yourself into. little yuji is holding your hand and insisting that you come meet his brother.
âheâs a bit awkward but thatâs just how he is. heâs a really good brother. he always lets me play video games with him and when heâs watching a scary movie he doesnât make me leave the room.â
now you knew a bit about sukuna. the man was in his 40s and would occasionally speak to your guardian. sometimes youâd even help him around his garden. or youâd go on grocery runs for him when your parent made you. he never mentioned any siblings.
you never even fully knew why sukuna moved to your island. your small island where everyone knew everyone and families went back generations. it was surprising to get someone who wasnât local moving in. but sukuna was a nice man. he didnât speak much to anyone and mainly stayed to himself but you can assume heâs a nice man.
âchoso finished high school last year and is doing college schooling but at home because our dad says iâm a lot. are you in school?â
the question caught you off guard. yuji had just been spewing out words, you never expected a question for you.
âumm⌠i was in school. i graduated a bit ago. now iâm saving up to go to a college thatâs not on the island. i want to travel and go somewhere new.â
âiâm from japan. you should go to japan itâs really nice andâŚâ he kept going. you werenât sure how a boy could have so much to say.
before you knew it you were standing in front of sukunaâs home, one thatâs not unfamiliar to you. yuji swung open the door but kept talking about whatever topic an 11 year old boy would find interesting.
âyuji who are you talking to?â a confused voice comes from another room down the hall. it wasnât sukunaâs you know that for sure.
yuji doesnât let go of your hand as he drags you down the hallway. youâre nervous. yeah youâve met their uncle but these are two strange boys youâve never met. youâve known yuji for less than an hour.
your eyes widen as you make eye contact with the boy you assume is yujiâs older brother. heâs taller than expected and doesnât look much like yuji.
heâs starting at you. unmoving. youâre scared.
âiâm so sorry. i was by the water and he started drowning. i didnât want him to be all by himself on his way back hereâŚâ
âŚ
âŚ
silence
âŚ
what did get yourself into? what do you even say? do you leave?
you turn to yuji. âumm⌠i donât live too far but be careful by the sea. iâd rather you find me to take you out then to have you in the water by yourself.â
âwhatâs that supposed to mean?â choso chimes in.
what..?
âhe was literally drowning when i first saw him.â
âyouâre lying. yuji knows how to swim.â heâs so rude.
âwell it didnât seem like it when i saw him.â
for a young boy with so much to say yuji was rather quiet right now.
choso stood there with his arms crossed over his chest. you couldnât believe the attitude of this boy.
jin itadori had a problem. a big one! his job had called upon him to go overseas for a summer project. that wasnât what he was worried about. he was worried about his sons. choso and yuji had always been a difficult bunch but jin knew how to handle them. but how would they handle overseas..?
âi can watch yuji. weâll stay here.â choso was adamant.
however jin knew his sons. yeah choso could handle himself but adding yuji to the mix was what made things tricky.
a wild child that boy was. he acted off straight impulses with not a thought in the world. yuji needed someone with structure. someone who wouldnât be afraid to discipline the boy when he got out of line. choso wasnât that. but jin knew someone who was.
sukuna.
sukuna had moved to a small island to get away from the city. away from the noise and away from the police world. a peaceful island with a small community of close people.
sukuna as an ex con man was no stranger to discipline. he was structure yuji needed.
jin hadnât spoken to his brother in ages and was rather shocked by sukuna agreeing to watch the two boys.
âextra hands are always good. you didnât raise hard working men.â sukuna raged.
choso was less than happy about this arrangement. he was nineteen! he didnât need a babysitter.
but all the negative thoughts vanish when yuji excitingly comes back from the nearby beach holding hands with a local island girl.
island gyal reader whoâs always by the sea. thereâs always something so calming about the rushing water hitting the sand on a nice peaceful day. well⌠it was supposed to be peaceful. until a little boy (around 11 you think) is seen splashing in the water. is he drowning? before you can even think youâre rushing into the water to lift the boy who thanks you with a cough in the face.
âare you okay? who are you here with?â youâre panicking. the little boy looks at you and smiles.
âmy name is yuji! youâre pretty! i stay here with my uncle kuna!â
