namjoon said that he started working on “always” in the beginning of last year- which was when his plagiarism scandal broke out. he continued to work on it throughout the year (the file was seen on his desktop when he took a photo of a message he wrote for yoongi on his birthday) and sadly, 2016 was filled with hate and malicious attacks towards namjoon. he went through more plagiarism accusations, his misogyny scandal (which indie artist eAeon had to speak up for and say that namjoon was going through an extremely tough time because of it- he was so upset with himself that he wasn’t able to fall asleep and even cried because of it) , antifans manipulating his past lyrics, false rumors, and more. at one point, if you searched the name “rap monster” on nate pann, all you’d see were posts calling namjoon “ugly” and “talentless” and it was to the point where armys couldn’t even defend him properly.
that being said, please be careful with your words. I’m not saying that namjoon wasn’t worthy of criticism for some of the things he did/said but he is not a person that is worthy of slander, personal attacks, defamation, and death threats. the hate he had to go through in 2016 made him say the words “one morning, when I woke up, I wished I was dead. I want someone to kill me in this loud silence. I live to understand the world but the world has never understood me.”
So please be careful with your words. There has been so many incidents of celebrities committing suicide because of the hate they received and I know that namjoon may not be your favorite person and that you may dislike him and I’m not forcing you to love him- but he is my world and he is a presence that comforts me in my darkest of moments. and though I am comforted by the many songs that he made that details his struggles with his mental and emotional health and describes some of my own thoughts, I would not know what to do if the hate namjoon recieves pushes him completely over the edge. if anything, I don’t want namjoon to have to ever go through this internal storm ever again. so please please please be careful with whatever you say about him. please let the person that makes me so happy be happy as well.
