It’s been over a year since my last real post here because the BBA and Camallanus had been bumming me out, but I want to do an update:

I’ve done 2 rounds of Levamisole treatments on the 55gal

Every month or so I use food soaked in Fenbendazole for 3 days

My angelfish (which had worms in its vent at the start of treatment) is doing great and hasn’t had visible worms for a long time now

No visible worms in any fish for months!

But still an occasional death that seems to point at worms :/

(Hence the continued Fenbendazole treatment)

BBA disappeared from the puffer tank after adding ramshorns

The puffers have unfortunately also disappeared. I suspect it was Camallanus too, but I didn’t catch the symptoms until it was too late.

There’s still BBA in the 55gal, but it behaves itself and doesn’t smother the plants anymore. Now the big threat is hair algae, which at least comes off relatively easily, but... *grumbles*

I lost 3 of my corys within a month, totally out of the blue. Only one looked weak before going. The rest are still as bright-eyed and lively as ever.

Avocado Toast looks like they have Camellanus worms... I’ve had 3 guppies die in that tank since I got them, but I could never find the cause so I’m wondering if it was the Camellanus too.

I hear the only way to stop it is with Levamisole HCl, does anyone have experience with this treatment?

And is it safe for snails? If not, could I move them to a separate tank while I treat my fish, or do the snails need to be treated too?

I feed snails from the infected tank to my dwarf puffers and use some of the same equipment between the tanks, but I haven’t seen any symptoms of parasites in the puffers; should I still treat my puffer tank at the same time to be safe?

How do I prevent this from happening again? I haven’t purchased any fish in 2 months and I’m only now seeing symptoms I can diagnose

Just picked up this sleek little tank yesterday!

I’d been thinking of getting a small tank to separate my puffers, but ever since I changed their feeding routine I’ve been seeing a lot less aggression between them. Keeping active, curious fish alone isn’t something I enjoy doing (I’ve had fish get stressed out from living alone), especially when the tank wouldn’t be in a high-traffic part of the house. Getting a closer look at the built-in filter is also making me wonder if it’s strong enough to handle a dwarf puffer’s mess.

It spent some time checking out every single shell, then gave a little chirp before moving into the one it liked best. It’s got some store/traveling wear and tear, but nothing a molt can’t fix.
