Exquisite Corpse 2026
Announcing the 2026 Tomarrymort Exquisite Corpse!
The Tomarrymort Exquisite Corpse is a collaborative fanwork in which each participant adds a new chapter of a Tomarrymort (Harry Potter/Tom Riddle | Voldemort) fanfiction or fanart by only being allowed to see the end of what the previous person contributed.
How it Works:
Both writers and artists may sign up for The Exquisite Corpse; we welcome all Tomarrymort creators!
Signups begin 2026-07-01 12:00 UTC and will be open until 2026-07-31 23:59 UTC. The signup form is shared here, on our AO3 account, and in the Tomarrymort Events Server.
After the signup period, the Corpse organizers will create a schedule. The first and last participants will be decided and agree to their role ahead of time so that they can create with starting and ending the fic in mind.
The remaining participants will be given an assigned two-week time period and may write/create anything based on continuing the portion of the previous work they have access to.
Each participant will have those two weeks to create a Tomarrymort-focused fanfic or fanart chapter, at the end of which they must submit their work to the organizers.
The organizers will then pass on a portion—either the final five lines (writers) or a cropped portion of art (as chosen by the artist)—on to the next participant in line.
After the final Exquisite Corpse is complete and posted on our AO3 account, and all participants have had a chance to read it, we will invite participants as co-creators on the work (if they wish) so that they are able to have the work on their profile.
Guidelines:
Participants may create any type of content for their portion.
The only hard rule we are placing for all participants is that absolutely no AI-generated or heavily assisted content is allowed. You may use proofreading programs such as Grammarly to correct spelling and grammar. Organizers will be reviewing all submissions before the final posting.
NSFW content is allowed in the work of the participants, but we ask that the last portion of the participant’s work that will be passed on (the last five lines or cropped art piece) does not be kept mainly SFW.
There is a set minimum of 500 words per work for writers, and we recommend you aim for around 3000 to 4000 words, as that has been the average in the previous years. There is no set maximum.
Creators may proofread, render, etc. their work after initial submission, but should not meaningfully change anything from the initial content submitted so that the works can still be connected properly. There will also be a dedicated proofread period after all participants have finished, after which final versions must be submitted to the organizers.
Important Notes:
You must be a member of the Tomarrymort Events (TENTS) Discord Server, at least for the duration of the Corpse, to participate. We will contact participants individually about their portions via Discord and use TENTS to keep everyone up-to-date about the project.
The Corpse is usually a multi-month event; you may be assigned a period weeks/months in the future. If something comes up during your assigned creation period, please let the organizers know. We will keep in contact with everyone throughout and do our best to accommodate any issues that might arise.
