“i swear to god these fucking surgeons got sticks so far up their a–” theo flashed a passing surgeon a smile before returning her attention to her shift partner. “like what the fuck are they doing down here if they’re not dealing with the actual trauma patients? like who gave them the right?” she growled, scanning over the chart in front of her. it wasn’t that she didn’t like the doctors in the hospital. they were nice. for the most part. aside from the horrible ones, of course. but this shift had felt like a million years long, and all she wanted was to head home and curl up on the couch with nugget. but that was still hours away. she let out a dramatic sigh. “can someone please just sign off on this old lady so i can go nap in a corner somewhere?” theo flashed the nurse behind the station her best smile, praying to whatever god there was that someone would show up. and soon.

“ you know we’re not all bad, right? ” arizona had overheard the woman speaking ill of surgeons and didn’t like it one bit. she couldn’t name a single person in the hospital who wasn’t good at their job but maybe that was her optimistic attitude shining through. “ i deal with kids so the opposite of old people so someone else should sign off on that one for you. ”

“No Francesca, you can’t skip school, I don’t care if you don’t know anyone, you won’t know anyone if you don’t go…I’m working, go to school.” Nancy almost groaned as she hung up the call and she turned to lean on the nurses station as she opened Life360 to keep an eye on her daughter. “Kids, huh? No wonder I’m going gray.”

“ mine’s still a baby, i don’t have to deal with that just yet. ” arizona chuckled a little and placed her chart on the nurses station. “ how old is your daughter? i remember at times i didn’t want to go to school. ”

a pounding headache was starting behind the young neurosurgeons eyes, called in too early too sleep after a night of drinking, amelia was feeling like absolute shit. not to mention she was exhausted. the man whose bed she'd climbed out of that morning had been clingy and asked her not to leave more than once, just irritating her more than she had been the second she woke up. now, never the morning person even sober, the young shepherd tapped her fingers against the coffee cart of the hospital, her gaze drifting to the person beside her who seemed to have nothing better to do but stare. " dude, i hear iphones take PICTURES now. why are you staring? " @traumasstart

arizona shrugged as the young shepherd spoke, she didn’t think she was staring she just thought that amelia looked like crap. “ you just look — i don’t know. you look like you could use a good sleep. you okay? ”

“In that case I won’t make you.” Marion said giving a small shrug before sitting down next to Arizona. She knew it must have been a difficult surgery just by the look on the other doctor’s face and she didn’t want to just leave her alone. 

arizona appreciated the company, she didn’t like to be alone in times like this but she also really didn’t want to talk about it. “ thank you, i appreciate your company. ” she attempted as smile as she looked at the woman beside her. “ days like this are rare but they always pass i guess. ”

arizona more or less threw her scrub cap on the floor after she’d lost yet another patient, the second that day. she sat on the bench in the locker room and huffed, she sometimes wondered why she still did this job. “ i really don’t want to talk about it. ” she mumbled as someone approached on her left.
