I wrote the most soul-exposing poem ever and actually read it in front of a live audience. The one time I had the bravery to look up from the words I was reading, I saw your face and how moved you were. That little nanosecond made me feel so, so good. When I finished, the room erupted in applause. People actually came up to me and told me how much they liked my writing. None of that mattered as much as you lightly and respectfully touching my thigh and telling me that I did great and I was incredible. But those people really, truly, honestly liked my work. The host asked me to come back. He told me when the poetry slam was. He gave me a nickname.
