On October 28th, 2008 in Quantico, Virginia, Henry LaMontagne was born into the BAU’s tightly-knit family. Throughout his entire childhood, Henry was surrounded by the love of both of his parents as well as his mother’s team. Despite their lack of a genetic connection, the BAU was as close to Henry as any other family might be. They were a constant fixture in his life. He had more memories with them than he did with his grandmother or cousins.
There was rarely a time in Henry’s childhood that he didn’t feel safe. Though he knew there were monsters in the world, he also knew that his parents and aunts and uncles were the ones keeping them at bay. He considered himself the safest kid in the world, surrounded by superheroes.
Things changed, as he grew up. When his childhood naivety wore off, Henry became aware of just how much danger his mom and dad were in every day. The monsters of the world were no longer faceless beings that went bump in the night and his parents weren’t superheroes anymore. They were all just people.
Around the time that the black and white started to melt into shades of gray was when his anxiety set in. Along with his hunger for information about the people who the BAU faced up against. He thought that the more he knew, the less scared he’d be— after all, he was born into a family of experts and all of them were seemingly unafraid. Henry wanted to be unafraid, too.

Generally speaking, Henry is a loyal and caring person. He has a deep sense of responsibility when it comes to protecting the important people in his life. To him, above all else, his family and friends come first; something which unfortunately manifests itself in the form of anxiety when he has no way of helping them. But, rarely one to call attention to himself, Henry doesn’t tend to let people know when he’s feeling anxious. More often than not, he prefers to listen than to be heard and would rather be behind the scenes than in the spotlight. Rarely does he feel shy, but Henry is often reserved around people he’s unfamiliar with and doesn’t tend to offer up too many details about himself.
USUAL MOOD/EXPRESSION: His usual mood is anxious, but he’s an optimist so he’s usually sure that he’ll be fine in five minutes. His expression tends to relay the second part of that statement.
MORAL ALIGNMENT: Lawful good.
MYERS BRIGGS: INFJ - The Advocate.
ENNEAGRAM: The Loyalist.
FOUR TEMPERAMENTS: Melancholic.
FIVE PROMINENT TRAITS: Messy, observant, patient, forgetful, transparent.
Sometimes Henry feels like a career in law enforcement is expected of him, given that basically every adult he knows works for the government, but he doesn’t really think it’s right for him. Especially since just thinking about other people in the line of duty makes him anxious.
If his mom is gone for extended periods of time, Henry’s grades tend to dip a little. He spends more time checking for news updates in class than he does actually paying attention. It’s resulted in more than one parent/teacher phone call.
His haircuts tend to line up with his godfather’s. When Reid wears his hair long, so does Henry, and when Reid gets his cut, Henry follows within a week or two. This trend was broken, after Henry decided to shave his head, following Spencer’s arrest.
Henry tends to find himself in Penelope’s office doing homework and eating dinner, when he doesn’t have to look after Michael and JJ is on a case. It’s easier to convince himself that he’s got some kind of control of the situation.
It’s Henry’s ultimate goal to become a music therapist. In the meantime, though, he’s busy trying to master a few instruments. So far, he’s proficient at the guitar, the piano, and the violin. Sometimes, he plays in the pit for school musicals. Other times, he composes.
He’s been playing soccer since before he can remember and became a starter ( left wing ) during his sophomore season. Though he doesn’t always pass along the schedules for his games, he always texts his parents the final score.
Chicken wings own his heart. He’ll do anything for a box of flats. Anything.
❖ — FOLLOW THE SUN. ❜ Current canon verse. Just another face in crowded hallways. Henry’s a quiet kid with a fair few friends, but he doesn’t really go out of his way to get noticed. He’s on his school’s soccer team, playing the position of left wing. As far as classes go, he excels in the sciences and music classes but is practically hopeless when it comes to languages— much to his chagrin, being that he’s surrounded by multilingual geniuses after school lets out on any given day.
❖ — BAU BABY. ❜ Early canon verse. Still young and blissfully unaware of what his mom and dad do on a day-to-day basis, Henry is a generally happy kid. He’s suffered from seizures in the past, but doesn’t have them on a regular basis.
❖ — GROWING PAINS. ❜ Mental illness innit verse. Finally privy to the world that he lives in, Henry has started to struggle with mild anxiety. Unsure what he would say about it, he keeps quiet unless he finds himself having a rare panic attack. There are times that he acts out, but generally Henry is well behaved at school and at home. Most incidences of his misbehavior occur when his mom is gone for a long period of time.
❖ — GODFATHER’S SAFETY SCHOOL. ❜ College verse. In New Haven, Connecticut, now six hours away from his family and everything he’s familiar with, Henry is attending Yale University. During his freshman year, Henry’s declared major was psychology, but during his sophomore year he switched it to music with a minor in psychology, deciding to pursue passion over practicality. Eventually, though, he’ll decide he wants to go into music therapy.
❖ — WHEELS UP. ❜ Essentially, any thread that isn’t pre-established and doesn’t take place in Virginia! Sometimes Henry will be out of state because he’s going on a college visit, other times he’ll be travelling with the BAU due to a last minute case and a lack of other respectable supervision back home.
❖ — HAVE YOU SEEN THIS BOY? ❜ An AU that takes place after the BAU faces off with Izzy Rogers. When Rossi calls to distract her in ‘Run’, she doesn’t pick up and when JJ arrives at her house, there’s no sign of her or of Henry. He was intended to be used as leverage to score a deal for both herself and her partner, Matthew. But upon learning of Matthew’s death, Izzy decided to keep him. A kid could make for a very interesting con.
Being so young at the time of his abduction, Henry never suspected anything strange about his upbringing. He knew that his parents fought monsters every day and when his new aunt told him that the monsters had won, he believed her. Izzy moved them far from Quantico and they never stayed in one place for too long, moving again and again every time Izzy pulled off something big. For smaller gigs, she sometimes used Henry to gain sympathy or as protection for herself. It became his normal.
His relationship with Izzy was never a warm one, but they did grow to care for each other. They had a mutual trust that Henry couldn’t remember developing with anyone else he’d ever met. As far as he knew, Izzy was the only family he had left. Until one day, a run-in with the law in Kazakhstan led to their arrest and Henry’s return to the United States, back to a life he couldn’t even remember living.
Threads in this verse could take place at any point in the timeline. While he’s living with Izzy, while he’s in custody, or once he gets back to Virginia. Just let me know if you have a preference as to what time our interaction is set!!
