fiveâs brows furrowed slightly, arms crossed over his chest, as his gaze shot towards the other. âyes, my memories are intact,â five shrugged. heâd heard stories here and there, mostly through eavesdropping, that there were quite a few people who lost their memories, or at least, were missing bits and pieces. âbut then again, if i was missing anything, i wouldnât know,â he added, his brain basically going a mile a minute at this point. sometimes, he really hated how smart he was, because that meant he thought of anything and everything. every possible outcome, he tried to form as best as he could. and if something fucked up along the way, heâd find a way around it eventually. âbut yeah. all the memories seems to check out for me.â he paused shortly. âyou donât?â he asked, though he probably didnât have to. it was somewhat obvious, but now was the time to ask questions, he supposed. at the end of the day, he didnât care who he bothered, or who he annoyed; he was trying to figure out what was happening here and that was that. even if she definitely didnât seem like the worst company. âtrust me, iâve lived through too many end of the worlds to be scared of a stupid lagoon.â even if there was no saying what was actually there, waiting for them. âlucky for you, my shift just ended.â technically, it actually just began, but heâd talk his way out of it, he was sure.
a little part of jinx always deflated when someone told her they still had their memories intact . hers were gone - she had bits and pieces , flashes of images that vaguely resembled a place or a face but other than that , she had nothing to go on . no one had recognised her in this town yet , and sheâd stopped hoping for it after a week or so . her patience didnât stretch very far , and neither did her hope . she shook her head as she pulled on her black leather jacket , âno , i donât remember anything from before here . i wasnât even sure there was a before until someone else without memories talked about it .â jinx pulled her backpack over one shoulder and sighed . âi get bits and pieces sometimes ,â she continued as they headed out of the library , âbut every time they come through , theyâre like flashbacks . usually end up with a blinding migraine . if i didnât know any better , i wouldâve assumed thereâs a solid brick wall in my brain and every time it crumbles , the rubble bashes against my skull .â jinx glanced over at the guy walking beside her , honestly just checking he was still there . she never thought anyone would join her on her crazy expeditions , but she had to admit to herself that it was nice to have a bit of company from someone who didnât label her as a psychopath . âwhatâs your story , then ?â she asked , her eyes narrowing ever so slightly at the other , âsomehow the end of the world doesnât seem like it would be worse than this fresh hell .â she pretty much word-vomited almost everything about herself , but the only thing she knows about five is his name and the fact he can remember the place he calls home .
