"If the world was ending.. you'd- we'd spend our last day together, right?" Willow asked.
"Huh? Why's the world ending?" The silence had been comfortable. Wilson had almost fallen asleep and didn't catch the question, pulled from his dreams abruptly.
"It's not... But what if it was? And what if we were having one of our arguments, not talking to each other. We'd get over it if the world was ending, right?"
What a strange line of inquiry. "I suppose so. Why do you ask?"
"I know we fight a lot... and we get mad at each other a lot. But... we still love each other even when we're fighting, right? You still love me?"
"What? Yes- of course. Always. You know that, don't you? Did I make you think otherwise?"
Willow felt foolish for doubting, but sometimes she did anyway.
"I KNOW it in my head, but sometimes... sometimes I guess I don't believe it in my heart. When we fight I'm always worried that this time you're gonna- that you won't get over it, that you'll realize it's impossible to love me."
Wilson threw his hands in the air. Clearly there would be no making this woman see reason. "You're impossible!" He stormed past her, determined to do this his way, even if it meant doing it alone.
"I didn't know- I didn't mean that, Willow. I'm..." Sorry didn't feel like enough, but what else did he have? "I'm sorry for what I said. I know I have a quick temper. I should... I should consider my words more carefully. I didn't mean to hurt you."
Willow sighed. "I know, I'm just being stupid. Thanks. Sorry for waking you up."
"It's not stupid- your feelings are very important to me. I hope you always feel comfortable telling me about them."
Willow laughed a little at that. "I couldn't hide how I feel if I tried. When I'm upset, everybody knows about it."
Wilson smiled. "That's true. You're a very genuine, passionate person, and I love that about you."
"You know what I love about you?" There was a playful tone in her voice. "You're real hard headed."
"That's funny, I thought you hated how stubborn I am." He was amused at her interesting choice of trait to highlight.
"No. I thought I did sometimes... but I think it's good you stand your ground. I think I need someone who isn't scared to go toe to toe with me."
"Because I AM impossible. But you have no sense of impossible. If the world was ending, you'd try to save it. And I bet you could. That's what I love about you."
