If you're still housing some beloved items in a cardboard box - even neatly so and well labelled and everything - now's the time to upgrade that to a plastic tote.
My toilet overflowed over the weekend and while stressful, annoying, and I'm still dealing with clean up, it could have been worse as it didn't affect furniture or any major items I own. Or my yarn stash or any of my board games (they ain't cheap these days!), or truly anything to worry about.
Except...
...my one perfectly curated box of childhood memorabilia and life stuff I had in a perfectly good Xerox paper box. The water got to it in the bottom of the linen closet and ruined some things I'm kind of devastated by losing.
So. I still have to do a thorough carpet clean with my shiny new carpet cleaner I had to buy and some extra towel laundry, but otherwise, all that is left is some mourning over some....memories.
Don't let this happen to you! Go buy that tote! Protect your stuff!
