I think I'm pretty happy with the way my theme looks right now. Of course there's still things to work on, but it's coming along nicely I'd say!
It's an edited version of Hatfield by Stash-- various edits include:
Added variable column count based on screen size. Columns vary from 1 column (screen size < 600px) to 7 columns (screen size >= 2100px). Arbitrarily based on the fact that my monitor is 2k.
Edited title size/location
Added background for navigation
Added font- Jetbrains Mono

Things I would still like to do:
Lower opacity for tags or add a border around text posts-- I find it difficut to determine where a non-image post starts and ends.
I think I want to change something about audio posts. I'm not sure if I want to hide the text part of it or what, but I keep thinking that the caption belongs to a separate text post.
Expanding the view for images is a bit wonky, especially on the index page. I wan to change this behavior to match how it behaves in the permalink page for a post.
Not really a theme thing but I might change my favicon, not sure how I feel about it being my avatar.
maybe make date visible for all posts, where it navigates to the permalink page in a new tab. Display similar to how pinterest does it could work here.
I think its weird that there's an overlay only on posts that have a caption. Maybe the overlay can have the date for all posts for consistency. On second thought this could work for text posts as well

UGH I wish tumblr had the ability to post code blocks so I could highlight specific sections but alas. Here is the pastebin in case I lose it. I tried to format it best I could with color-- with added code being colored green, removed code being colored red, and unchanged code remaining white to follow similar diff formatting convention. Ellipses are whatever color I feel like because uh idk.

I wish there was a posting platform that I could perfectly microblog from/about. I do think so far tumblr is the best so far, but I wish I had the ability to format text in more ways (specifically codeblocks/code formatting).
Mostly tangential, but there are some features that I also really like across other platforms that I wanted to note.
My criteria (generally in order from most to least important):
Integration of wide variety of mediums. I do a wide range of hobbies-- I want to be able to post text, images, videos, audio/sounds, 3d stuff. This also includes character limits.
Ease of posting. Most importantly ability to paste images from clipboard. If it's hard to write a post/article I will simply Not Do It. This is my primary barrier to using my own website.
Customization of my page. Not as important, but would be nice.

Platforms
Tumblr - so far the best. I love the tagging system, I love that I can post text, videos, images, and audio. I love that it's pretty accessible via mobile app and web, I love being able to customize themes. I love that RSS shit is already done for me, I love that it's still a traditional social media where people can comment/share/bookmark. It lacks some things that I want to see like the ability to insert code blocks and I don't think there are any plans to implement this, but honestly I think out of everything I've tried so far it's the most polished/complete option.
Soundcloud - I really like the annotation feature that soundcloud has. It's great for annotations and notes where timestamps are involved, and I have yet to find another platform with this ability. It's so incredibly disappointing that they limit how many tracks you can post, I would absolutely use soundcloud as my primary audio platform if this limit didn't exist.
Youtube - the video platform in my opinion. The benefit of youtube being so widely used is that embeds are so easy across almost every other place I would post videos. Livestream vods are also stored for longer than twitch, so I think I'll use youtube primarily for any livestream stuff I do.
vroid hub - This has been my go-to so far for 3D characters (my vroid profile btw) since it's integrated with vroid and that's what I've been using so far. I've also seen people upload blender character models here (like low poly stuff). I really like that you can pan/rotate/zoom pretty freely in the viewer thing-- I haven't seen this feature on a lot of places where people discuss 3d art/modeling. But also seems like something I should look into more.
Bluesky/Twitter - grouped together since they both have the same formatting. Honestly I don't think there's anything special about it other than posts taking up a small amount of space on the screen, so I think it's a good place for updates from other platforms.
