I think it's kinda fascinating that none of the games have Maria die before Rosa. Ep 2 is the only time we really get to see Rosa react to the loss of Maria. However, the lyrics to Thank You for Being Born, I'd argue are about Rosa grieving the loss of Maria.

totally worth spending way too much money to verify that i was correct to assume that the translator for theater was making shit up. it seems that the gen z tiktok slang nonsense was an english original, as expected!

This is particularly annoying bc one of the series greatest strengths is the characters all have very distinctive voices. You have to be super careful that Kyon sounds like Kyon in the narration. It's interesting that we now have a Haruhi book narrated by Greg Heffley, but it was also just upsetting. Especially when they didn't even take the effort to be consistent with "Espers"

i know i complain a lot, so here are some things that i think are excellent about the anime:

tsundere4tsundere moments (aforementioned haruhi water-snatching incident, like EVERY time kyon looks at her when she's not paying attention, a couple instances where he's got a little smile while glancing at her and she catches it and smiles back)

yuki playing with things (mouse, remote, etc)

that koizumi facepalm at the tail end of disappearance. also his apples. buddy WHAT were you doing with those apples.

the detail put into the rest of class 1-5! you see a lot if you're paying attention, it's cute. and it's interesting that the class chart from the anime guide is implied to be canon to the novels as well!

the endless eight stargazing scene, and specifically how they handled kyon's response to koizumi

the few moments we get of mikuru and haruhi actually being friends is adorable

actually all of endless eight. cinematic masterpiece, they should release a cut without the op/ed so you can get lost in the loop

I really like the stargazing scene in Endless Eight V. In almost every other loop you have this classic HaruKyon banter about martians. Its fun and all, but tbh pretty empty.

Then in Endless Eight V, the direction does this, and the entire conversation gets a new meaning. Of course she describes Martians as reserved but deep down friendly people.

Looking for the Haruhi cosplayer I ran into on Friday at Katsucon who got a photo with me and another Yuki cosplayer.

Reaching out because I really wanted to get my hand on that photo (it was really cool). We ran into each other at around 9 pm in the Gazebo area. I was cosplaying Yuki, and there was another Yuki as well. I have found and reached out to that other Yuki and they said the Haruhi cosplayer was the one who had the photo. I was in a rush and didn't think to ask for it and just snapped a selfie. If you are reading this and know who that may've been, please lmk.

so like would anyone be interested in helping out if i tried to start up a non-fandom haruhi wiki. that actually has accurate information and marks stuff from adaptations etc as such. because the one we have drives me crazy and i straight up refuse to use it half bc i hate fandom and half bc i literally cannot trust that what it says is even remotely accurate

(to be clear, it would still ARCHIVE things that are from adaptations and spinoffs as needed. they just wouldn't be blended into the main pages and treated as de facto canon.)

Slightly off topic, but I find it extremely funny that the actual Wikipedia page for Haruhi Suzumiya (character) has presented the "Kyon is God" theory as absolute fact for months, and no one has gotten rid of it. Meanwhile the talk page for her is too concerned on whether or not they should mention Haruhi being bisexual to notice it.

This is an actual line that's gone unfixed for months (it's also a grammatical nightmare):
