I saw this amazing movie a couple days ago which I think you should see...

Finding Vivian Maier is the critically acclaimed documentary about a mysterious nanny, who secretly took over 100,000 photographs that were hidden in storage lockers and, discovered decades later, is now among the 20th century’s greatest photographers. Directed by John Maloof and Charlie Siskel, Maier’s strange and riveting life and art are revealed through never before seen photographs, films, and interviews with dozens who thought they knew her.

Maier’s massive body of work would come to light when in 2007 her work was discovered at a local thrift auction house on Chicago’s Northwest Side. From there, it would eventually impact the world over and change the life of the man who championed her work and brought it to the public eye, John Maloof.

Currently, Vivian Maier’s body of work is being archived and cataloged for the enjoyment of others and for future generations. John Maloof is at the core of this project after reconstructing most of the archive, having been previously dispersed to the various buyers attending that auction. Now, with roughly 90% of her archive reconstructed, Vivian’s work is part of a renaissance in interest in the art of Street Photography.

Before their recent split, they collectively ran the most successful and well respected type design studio in the world, creating fonts used by everyone from the Wall Street Journal to the President of the United States.

BCNMCR 2014

Jessica Walsh - Like Knows Like

Retour sur le court documentaire réalisé par Like knows Like sur Jessica Walsh, designeuse, directrice artistique et illustratrice travaillant à New York. Récente partenaire du célèbre Stefan Sagmeister, ils fondent ensemble le studio Sagmeister & Walsh. Elle enseigne également à l'École des arts visuels de NY et son travail a remporté de nombreux prix. Récemment Warner Bros a acquis les droits du film de son side-project virale appelée «40 Days Of Dating"

LAND

Fondé par Caleb Owen Everitt et Ryan Rhodes, LAND est un studio qui s'inspire de valeurs artisanales. Un design nostalgique et vintage se traduisant par des textures et des formes imparfaites.

King Krule - A Lizard State

King Krule vient tout juste de déposer sa nouvelle video extraite de l'incroyable album, Six Feet Beneath The Moon. Dirigé par Jamie-James Medina, le clip rend hommage au légendaire réalisateur Anglais, Alfred Hitchcock.

Il y a quelque temps Nowness nous proposait ce court métrage réalisé par Sam Macon, explorant ici les traditions créatives américaines: Le lettrage, à travers une signalétique restée artisanale et méconnue du grand publique. Un art perdu et bien loin des projecteurs mais qui retrouve pour moi un intérêt tout particulier à l'heure du numérique et des nouveaux médias.

NEW TENDENCY

NEW TENDENCY (anciennement connu sous le nom de MY BAHAUS IS BETTER THAN YOURS) est un groupe d'amis qui créé, produit et distribu des meubles, des imprimés, et des livres parmi beaucoup d'autres objets. Le collectif s'est développé autour d'une exposition du groupe en 2009 et a également pu exposer son travail à Milan, Berlin, Leipzig, Beyrouth et Weimar. Le but est de permettre aux designers et aux artistes de NEW TENDENCY de produire un capital créatif, culturel et financier pour continuer à développer et produire de nouveaux concepts et des objets, indépendamment.
