Archie sat there looking over at the girl for the moment as he ran a hand through his hair, there was a moment where he felt like nothing had changed but everything had and he had to accept that. He laughed “Oh you know it is is a cute name, stop trying to say it’s not. It’s always been a cute name. Okay, I guess I can live with that.” He laughed a little as he looked over at her and nodded, “Well you would love that wouldn’t you? If she was called Hermione Granger. Thank you Penny. It means a lot.” He smiled, deep down he knew it wasn’t her he was with and he had wished that it was her he was with but sometimes things don’t work out the way you want them too. He sighed, “Well that sucks. And wait what? You have got to be kidding me? He what? And why are you going through a custody battle? Shouldn’t it just be so simple. I mean I know it’s not. I am just so sorry to hear what you’re going through though.”

Penny looked at the guy as she sipped on her coffee, the one thing that always gave her hope for the day was coffee. She laughed looking at him, she missed him, everything about him, he was her best friend and used to be someone she thought she could love. She laughed a little, “Well I mean it really isn’t that cute when you’re older and now a mom. Of course, if her name was Hermione Granger i would love that. You’re welcome Arch.” She smiled for a moment listening to him and she shrugged, “Well they are his kids, the simple thing is, he is fighting for them as much as I am and although i want the custody, I also like he is fighting for his kids. Just... if we split custody it’s going to be tricky but maybe it could work. I mean it’s horrible for me, but why make it worse for the kids not having a father?”

Archie sat there drinking his coffee, he was glad that he could find his way back to his best friend, but unfortunately they couldn’t continue with what they had before she left. “Because it is such a cute name for you and it suits you. Maybe you should change your actual name to Pen Pen.” He laughed a little annd nodded, “Yeah it is good to hear I guess. Her name is Hermione, you know like Hermione Granger but not as smart and not her last name. But you know how much I love Harry Potter. It’s going really well, it is still pretty early days but it’s really good right now, we’re happy. Oh I am sorry to hear that Penny, if you don’t mind me asking, what happened to make you two want to get a divorce? I am glad the kids are happy though and they will understand.”

Penny sat there taking a sip of her coffee and laughed a little looking over at the guy, she missed him and was very glad they were reunited because it had been too long since they were around each other and honestly she hated it. She laughed a little, “I don’t really think it’s that much of a cute name but if you want to keep calling me it then feel free too. But not actually going to change my name to it, sorry.” She laughed shaking her head. Hearing his words, she pretended not to feel down about his relationship and smiled a happy smile, “Well she has a nice name, just ashame shes not actually Hermione grange. I am happy you’re happy Arch. You deserve it.” She stated smiling over at him and she shrugged, “It just wasn’t working, we were arguing all the time and I guess it didn’t help that he had an affair, and slept with my best friend. I hope so, it’s going to be hard but right now we’re going through a custody battle as well so working through that is difficult.”

Archie sat opposite the girl and glanced over at her, happy she was finally back in the place she grew up in because they could spend more time together now and that’s something he was happy about. He laughed a little and nodded, “Of course I am, don’t think I will stop. Something i have always called you and always will call you. I am doing great thank you.” He stated and shrugged as he took a sip of his drink, “Well I am dating someone, we’ve been together for five months. What about you? How’s the kids?”

Penny sat opposite her old best friend who she wanted to fix things with and to sort things out with because she missed him, she missed just hanging out, having a laugh and everything else and she knew it was her fault they had to drift apart. “Oh gosh really? Why? Well that is very good to hear.” She laughed a little and nodded and smiled, trying to be happy for him, “Well that is good to hear? What’s her name? How’s that going? I’m glad you’re happy. Well I’m going through a divorce which is hard to go through but I can deal with it, just hard to deal with and make the kids think things are okay. The kids are great, they are happy.”

Archie was sure seeing Penny was going to be good, he had missed her, he had missed their laughs and just constant hanging out and talking. He wanted to catch up and see what had been going on and what he had missed. He sat in the cafe drinking his coffee before he saw her walk in and there was the attractive good looking girl he once loved but the never got past the hooking up stage of anything. As she took a seat he smiled looking up at him, “It has been a long time. How you doing Pen Pen? Is it still okay to call you that?” He said looking at the girl, he had kept it quiet to his girlfriend that he was meeting her because he knew his girlfriend had a jealous side. 

As Penny sat there for a moment she looked across at her best friend, could they fix their friendship up and be the best of friends like they used to be. She took a sip of her coffee for a moment before putting a hand through her long black hair. She laughed at her nickname at the moment before she sighed a little, “Still calling me Pen Pen? I am doing great thank you Arch, how you doing? Of course it’s still okay to call me that.” She stated as she looked down for a moment before looking at him, “So what’s new?”

It had been four years since Archie saw Penny, his best friend and ex kind of fling, he didn’t really know what they used to be. He had heard she was back in Kentucky and part of him was thinking oh great, this is exciting, but he knew nothing could happen, she had two kids and was going through a divorce and he was dating this girl who he did love, they had been together for five months and he found himself falling for her quickly. He was happy to make the relationship work and also make friends with Penny stronger then they used to be. He agreed to meet Penny at the coffee shop they used to go to all the time and he was happy to see her but he was nervous as well. As he ordered the coffee, he took a seat, he knew she wasn’t bringing her kids but he had yet to meet them. 

Penny had moved out of her home town Kentucky when she was twenty two after they graduated college and she got a job, she somehow found a guy and fell in love with him when she fell pregnant four months into being into a relationship with him. Whilst she was pregnant he proposed and she said yes and then they were married with a little girl and then she fell pregnant again and things were working out for them for a long time. That was all well and good until he told her he loved someone else and wanted a divorce, so although they faught a lot, she agreed to sign. Now she realised she needed to move somewhere and get away, so she chose to go back home to Kentucky. As she got back she moved in with her older sister with her little girl of three Marie and two year old boy Tim. She soon texted her old best friend, Archie letting him know she was in town and they should meet. As he agreed to go to coffee for her, she asked her sister to look after the kids even though she knew Archie hadn’t met them, actually he wasn’t even at the wedding and that was partly because of their past fling or relationship or whatever it was. As she arrived at the cafe, she ordered a coffee before finding him, he looked better then he did when they were at college and high school together. As she walked over to him she smiled over at him, “Long time no see Arch.” She smiled as she took a seat.”
