there are faces i remember

She wants to give Nicky a look; one of those looks that tells him that he’s close to crossing a line, but honestly? This wasn’t his most outrageous moment, so she settles for a small frown, enough to crease her brow and nothing more.

“They’re just trying to do their job, Nicky. PLEASE tell me you didn’t kick THEIR asses, that would mean a hard no on the x-ray. How about I just tell you how the x-ray WORKS, instead? Then you don’t need to test it, or the hospital’s security response time…”

the words ‘a hard no’ and the fact she’s trying to set up a compromise has him pouting but at the very least there’s a compromise. maybe if she shows him how to work it, he can do it himself when no one’s looking.  however,  he’s  fairly sure the security guards have been instructed to keep a close eye on him.  

“   and,   what   kind of  date  did you believe this to be,  darling ?   i  assure you, i am no   boring sort.   if   you   wished  for  something   generic,  you should have     stayed  home and   flipped through  romantic comedies to spend your time.    ”

“   it   could be  just coffee.   it doesn’t have to be anything more than that.  if you don’t  like coffee,   it   could be anything else.   ”    

“    technically,   you kissed me,  sweetheart.    if you’d  rather we forget it... no matter how   insulting that might be, it is your choice.  ”

“ hey,  hey.  ”  he’s wiping away her tears with the pad of his thumb. a weird sort of frustration is overflowing in the middle of his chest; the sort of frustration that mixes with guilt having known he’s the one to have made her cry.  frustration with the fact that he’s fighting the  impulse to say that this is simply who he is and she should know that by now.   what he’s trying to focus on now is finding the right words to say,   trying not to make her feel like he doesn’t want her because heaven knows,   he  wants her.

“   come back?  i  wasn’t  going  anywhere to begin with.  ”  dem cups her cheek,  tilting her face up gently as he leans forward to brush his lips against hers.   “  el,   don’t you understand by now,    you’re the one i want.  ”

her voice is soft but the words spoken grip him in a way that sobers his usual personality, taming him and demanding his focus.  this weekend has been odd, with her acting a little more distant than usual.  just enough for him to notice. if it were anyone else,  he  likely wouldn’t  have cared very much, if not at all.  but,  this is  ellie.   he’ll care whether he fights the feeling or not.  

brushing aside the curly hair hanging in front of his face, brown eyes  focus in on his friend,  brows  knitting together.   “ what makes you think m’ goin’ to?  ” nicky scoots closer,  tentatively resting his hand on hers, curling his fingers around hers when he’s sure that the touch isn’t unwelcome.  “ never,  okay ?  i wouldn’t leave… i can’t. ”   

Gives nose/forehead kisses- dem does most often! i also see during any time that dem is sitting, el will either be walking by or just wants to be close to him, and kisses his forehead. it’s a Soft gesture. 

Gets jealous the most- mmm, el does. in mutant verse, dem is very possessive which leads to some jealousy so they can rival in that aspect.

Picks the other up from the bar when they’re too drunk to drive- el probably pickin up dem !

Takes care of on sick days- they take care of each other :’)) dem’s stubborn sometimes though so el will have to go Nurse Mode on him 

Drags the other person out into the water on beach day- el dragging dem, definitely. he doesn’t like the beach too much because of the sand, but he’ll go. catch him reading in the shade of the umbrella though. 

Gives unprompted massages- either of them ! 

Drives/rides shotgun- public transportation is more of a thing, but dem will drive when they need to !

Brings the other lunch at work- either one of them will. el stops by the bakery more often than dem going to the hospital, though. 

Has the better parental relationship- both of them have pretty good relationships with their parental figures! 

Tries to start role-playing in bed- mmm, dem probably. maybe el, i wouldn’t count her out just yet haha. 

Embarrassingly drunk dancer- oh man, el maybe ?? haha 

Still cries watching Titanic- el !

Firmly believes in couples costumes- i don’t see either of them being too adamant about it. dem doesn’t mind matching though if el was firm on the couple costumes. 

Breaks the expensive gift rule during Christmas- i don’t see either of them getting anything too expensive for one another ?? mostly bc it isn’t either of their styles, really. in any case, dem might be the one to break it. 

Makes the other eat breakfast- both of them @ each other :’)) but they’re both big about breakfast food so. it isn’t that hard to make them eat.

Remembers anniversaries- el! i mean, later on in the relationship, dem does remember. but he isn’t the type to do the monthaversaries ?? or he isn’t accustomed to counting those. he’s a different sort of sentimental. in the early days, he will forget certain important dates likely. 

Brings up having kids- ooooh, kids and dem is tricky. dem doesn’t really like children. i mean, he’s a little awkward around them for some reason. he’s content without them. this may change as he gets older, i just don’t know. i feel that they’re often content as is. el might bring it up as a thought, but nothing too serious ??

Gives nose/forehead kisses - verona, mostly ! lola will too though, especially in the morning when they wake up and it’s easier to just scoot up and give vee a lil peck :’) 

Gets jealous the most- mmm, maybe lola ?? verona isn’t a jealous person.

Picks the other up from the bar when they’re too drunk to drive- lola picks up verona, likely.

Drives/rides shotgun- public transportation / taxi / biking are more likely for them. if they have to drive, verona will most likely .

Brings the other lunch at work- lola brings lunch to verona more often :’)) we’ve established verona loves going by the shop, so she’ll bring a little something for lola from the bakery on her way there if she hasn’t already stopped by herself. 

Has the better parental relationship- mm, both of them have pretty good relationships with their parental figures !

Tries to start role-playing in bed- GOODNESS UHHH, verona probably. but i really don’t see her and lola doing that ?? they could if lola wanted to though lol

Brings up having kids- mmm, when they get to the very serious and committed point in their relationship, verona would suggest adopting. however, she doesn’t need kids ?? it’s something she likely jokes about and if lola takes it more seriously and considers it, then it’s something they can talk about. but, i don’t see kids being a particular need for either of them. they’re content with it just being them.
