In my experience of becoming nonbinary, it took me a lot of time to be comfortable with being biologically female because I realized I didn’t hate being a female but I hated what came with it. Societal oppression, babies, being tied down in marriages, being one way or another and never feeling good enough.

In my journey, I’ve learned that I don’t hate being a female, I’ve learned that it’s beautiful and I probably wouldn’t pick having a penis. But, I don’t feel like a girl gender wise.

I think Dennis is facing something similar. He hates what comes with being an omega, like having heats (periods), having pups and expected to be a housewife (I hate that too Dennis lol). But, when he feels safe, when he’s with them (sometimes) he wants to lean into being an omega, a “stereotypical” one and he feels so much fucking shame for it.

I think it’s because Dennis has his own internal bias about what being an omega is. He has this internalized “omega-phobia” and maybe isn’t able to realize that being born and omega isn’t inherently a crime or wrong. I’m interested to see if he overcomes this shame of being an omega or his heats become regular and less painful and something he could possibly enjoy with the right people, will he still feel the same about wanting to be a beta? Or will he learn to love his own definition of what being an omega is too him?
