Rose rubs my back, and I spin to face her fully. She looks at me with more concern than I thought possible. In the end, it was not a boy who helped me. It was my sister I hold her hand and say, “Thank you.” Tears build. “I don’t know if I can do this without you.”

It’s beautiful up here, and even if I fear falling, it’s nice to know I’ve been down that road before. And I can always walk to the top again.
