Back to back National day celebrations.

Got up at 6:30am to go bird-watching at Kranji Marshes. Had some misadventures, then ended up spending more time looking at Jackfruit trees and Cacao trees at a nearby farm.

Happy fathers day! Sharing this cynical message from my dad 😂 He would say this every now and then, when I was younger. I used to complain that he was being cynical, pessimistic, and that he was wrong.

But as I get older, I am starting to realise this was just him trying to protect me from disappointment. (I think I worried him with my idealistic attitude).

I’m starting to believe my dad was just as much an idealist as me when he was younger. And life has made him cynical over the years. ⠀⠀⠀

I wished him that at least for today, his day will be full of good people and that some things will go his way ☺️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

+ We discussed that the world IS actually full of good people 😂. Good people that act selfishly - unknowingly hurting others. Good people that make mistakes sometimes.

+ Even if we do accept that things will not always go our way, we have the power to react to these situations in our chosen way. (Quite difficult, but there IS always a choice in how to react).

+ Realised that I need to celebrate Fathers day three times. In Singapore it’s today. In Korea it was on 1 June, and in NZ it’s 1 Sept.

My Love Language: Fries

Love it when Peter brings home fries even after I tell him “No, it’s okay”. (He knows I’m lying and understands that No means Yes when it comes to fries 😂). Then we squeeze on the couch having our late night snack and talk about how each of our days went.
