my hot take on the hugheses is that i like luke/quinn so much more than jack/quinn. it could be my personal bias against jack but he got highkey has shooters so i shant say much there. i do think the dynamics w luke + quinn is much buzzier when u break it down. my fav fic is prob this one

i dont seek out watch the habs but i have read some xhekaj fics and theyve got a good thing going there ngl good fics in that department. ive also read a couple strome fics but that was mainly cos i saw someone talking abt it on the dash and wanted to be involved lol, didnt hook me tho.

unexpectedly i do like the schenn bros. last playoff season they played a series against e/o and i remember they said they werent talking to e/o until after. thought that was interesting and some concepts def fluttered in my head after a few days but i dont watch either teams so it never gained any traction.

You reminded me that for the most part, we're here for laughs and fun. That trying to moralise or justify yourself 24/7 is not good for your overall health. I mean, I'm a woc and so I'm always hyperaware irl, I don't need to get myself worked up over irrelevant moral quandaries on irrelevant corners of the internet, too. Or worse be called a hypocrite and a traitor.

Obviously, politics is important but going after users on here doesn't change the government. Your interest in a player doesn't have to represent you. We also don't know most of them and either way, it's the NHL. Having a "wokest" contest is stupid.

We may block and cut off people easily online or in personal circles, but whether you want to face it or not, everyone and I do mean everyone in the sports world (women's leagues included), are linked to each other somehow. Even your most precious blorbos know someone "problematic" and it's probably because their privilege means discussing that stuff isn't important to them and in that environment, why risk it. I want things to be more progressive, but I doubt arguing on here and preaching is the way to do that.

So thankyou for being unabashed and upfront, instead of saying things like "x-team or player is hard to like" over random things.

this is a great message to have received and i really really appreciate you taking the time to type it out. im also a woc and im all too aware of the importance of politics and being politically aware, but i also know how exhausting it is. ive grown up in a sports loving family and i know how to many, myself especially included, sports are a reprieve from whatever bullshit is piling up in your life. i dont know why ppl are so eager to taint things that are supposed to fun, like fandom communities, with toxicity.

politics touch everything YES no one is denying that but im watching a sport FOR THE SPORT and thats it. ik this is abt the NHL but i hate the way the wc has gone. im a huge messi fan and its really frustrating opening the comments on a match post to see ppl being fake woke (and in this case, lying to paint a false narrative.) i will never be convinced that doing “background checks” to find the “wokest” athlete is the morally correct way to interact with a sport esp when it clearly becomes an excuse to be racist/ignorant/intentionally rude.

you ARE a bad person for calling someone ugly just bc you dont like them. stop making excuses for why you dont like them and simply own up to it. you ARE a horrible person for making “jokes” abt calling ice on an argentina fan. moral warfare spirals out of control so fast it becomes disgustingly racist and for what? what are we being so performative about?

if any of these ppl actually cared that much abt taking the moral high ground theyd stop interacting with sports all together bc nothing is untouched by politics you dont agree, no matter where you stand. its fucking ridiculous and i hate that its seeping out of online spaces and into the real world too, and i genuinely worry about how bad itll get in the future.
