Riptide is a dnd campaign with three people as main players (now four)- but since nearly the beginning of the campaign everyone has been shipping the two main male characters and treating her as a wingman or responsible third wheel. all my posts on jay ferin do much worse than a post about the male characters. recently IN CANON shes been treated horribly and barely anyone in the fandom or canon has been talking about her despite her LOSING A LEG

shes survived a lot of horrible things and is so full of love despite. she fought against horrible toxic family dynamics and has saved the life of her friends multiple times. shes given up so much and is really interesting and cool

everyone ignores her for yaoi

i haven’t listened to JRWI riptide in like 2 years but jay ferrin i owe you my life. she is literally everything to me and is overshadowed by the two male mcs in the fandom despite being an extremely compelling character, boiled down to a #girlboss, and when she is acknowledged it’s almost always to pair her with another character. she almost never gets to exist on her own. jay ferrin kill everyone 2026

lordyyyy. the fandom wingwomans her to an insane degree. she has been part of the crew for 120+ eps (since the beginning!) and still people only see her as a wingwoman to the main yaoi ship. the amountttt of times I have seen her called a “girlboss” makes me crazy. they give surface level analysis of her to make it seem like they gaf, while also not giving a fuck. they also sexualize her in lieu of finding anything interesting abt her like. “ohhhh our wife who is so hot, i love her :] now here’s a angsty fnc analysis”. she BARELY gets talked abt outside of her role in the two other pcs lives. which are two men. of course. she’s the responsible one with a brain cell ofc! she’s good at listening! they also call her a lesbian even though she’s canonically bi??? which I can only assume is because of their need to ship her with fem side characters so she won’t interfere with yaoi. to top it off, they were also cancelling people on twitter for shipping her with the other two captains bc, and I quote, “they are siblings”. none of them are related whatsoever Btw

SHES THE CHARACTER EVER. she has soooo many aspects to analyze and nobody does ANY of it. she had a whole quest to avenge her sister!!!! she has insanely complicated familial dynamics!!!!! you can watch her grow over the 100+ eps and . ougrjdj. my girl with so many issues asking for help. my girl with the WORST self esteem. she has such a fascinating worldview and YES, she’s cool. but she’s also silly? and NOT “the responsible brain cell haver”. she literally shot her friend multiple times bc they both wanted to see if he could stop a bullet with a sword. she dressed up as a clown to break into a high security prison. i need one billion analysis and fic of her NOW! get her away from the yaoi fr

she was the only woman PC (d&d podcast) for a very long time. everyone ships the two male PCs and often relegates her to being a fujoshi and/or the mom friend and/or the sister friend in the background of their shipfic. even in canon, she's been sidelined to hell recently

Sumia is designated as Chrom (one of the main characters)'s canonical wife and seeing as he is a popular marriage candidate, people were known to shit all over Sumia back in the day just for this reason alone. OVER A MAN.
