Allowing himself to get comfortable might have seemed like a deceptive tactic, but it wasnât escape that the broker was after. Â By showing himself to be completely at ease, he was in turn telling Shizuo that he was utterly and completely unafraid. Â After taking care to hang his coat up, Izaya crossed over to the couch and dropped onto it, stretching across the piece like a big, lazy cat.
âIt may come as a surprise to you, but I am human. Â When I feel like eating, I eat; I just happen to metabolize things quicker than some. Â But I donât make a point of eating three meals a day, so that likely factors into my weight. Â Doesnât make me unhealthy, though.â
Not that it was a good thing to practice, however. Â The informant didnât eat or sleep on a regular schedule, having trained his body years ago to go without. Â When it was necessary, he would go to bed or have a mealâthe latter being something he enjoyed quite a bit more. Â Food was something he truly did like, but he often forget about it until he became bored.
âI doubt you have anything to feed me with anyway. Â Even milk tastes terrible when it belongs to Shizu-chan.â
His eyes still following Izaya closely as he walked around the apartment, Shizuo couldnât help but see the situation as bizarre. After having gotten over the initial excitement of getting the other alone, he was left to observe the scene before him. The body guard never thinking that he would be seeing his arch rival sprawled out on his couch so carelessly.Â
He looked even smaller with the coat off. âI know asshole, Iâm not you.â This meaning that Shizuo didnât have delusions about Izayaâs being human. âI didnât ask for your eating schedule, couldnât care less if youâre healthy or not.â He preferred unhealthy.Â
âIf you donât usually eat then you can deal till I figure out what to do with yaâ.â There was only one microwavable meal left and Shizuo wasnât gonna share. âThink youâd be able to fix down the garbage shoot?â Â
inflxencee:
⌠â- â and you smell like an ashtray. smoking KILLS, you know. â
âI donât smell like an ashtray.â Shizuo signature scent was actually gas station cologne. Â Â
clandestineking:Â Â Â
âWell, now, what a surprise~! Â Shizu-chan said something stupid! Â If my parents cared, my sisters wouldnât be the way they are now. Â Unfortunately I believe thatâs my influence, but Iâll give you a little gold star for the effort. Â That ought to be familiar, right?â
Family was something of a touchy subject, but if that was what Shizuo wanted to use as ammunition Izaya could give him a hell of a fight. Â Oh, and he would win. Â But whether the blond realized it, or just possessed a fair amount of dumb luck, the subject changed to something a little less personal.
Not that it would stay that way for long.
âAnd what good would it do for me to stand still? Â Iâm inclined to think you wouldnât know what to do with me if you were able to get your hands on me.â
âI donât need your stupid star!â Thatâs right, trash the nonexistent star, that will really show him.
And of course he realized that he wasnât going to win in a battle of words. The informant being all  to familiar with the art of pissing him off, knowing just what to say and just what to do to get a  reaction. Shizuo however doubting that he could ever say anything that would wipe away Izayaâs shit eating smirk. If he ever managed such a major fleet it would have had to be by physical means. Â
âPlease, Iâv imagined it enough times.â He even had a little mental list. âIâd know exactly what to do.â That didnât necessarily mean Shizuo would be able to go through with it though, but he wasnât going to be saying that.Â
âSo how about you just stay still and I can just you just how much I know.â Â Â
erikararara:
âAh â yes! Thatâs such a great idea!â Did he come up with it himself?
âWeâll do that! And guess what? I already have all of the tools we need to make them.
âUh⌠have you ever made bracelets before, Shizu-chan?â
It didnât seem like his kind of activity but these tools were her livelihood, maybe it was better to get some other ones for them to practice withâŚ
âI know.â Nope, but he remembered a few girls exchanging friendship bracelets when he was in grade school. It seeming like a good enough way to make their relationship official.Â
âDonât call me that.â Just Shizuo was more than fine.Â
âAnd no I havenât, but it canât be that hard.â If ten year olds could make them he certainly should have been able to.Â

âOh, good! Â I know it was such a struggle for you. Â You always were such a disappointment, but at least your parents had two children; itâs always a relief to get it right the second time around.â
During their high school years Izaya had been more interested in teasing than causing Shizuo actual, bodily harmâbut that didnât mean he hadnât had his fun in that department as well. Â It was more amusing to leave things in his shoe locker, or taunt him about how he favored a more simple type of writing. Â He had even gone as far as to play the concerned student with the head teacher. Â Embarrassing the blond had been one of his favorite past-times.
âYouâre lacking both brains and beauty, and even though you do possessed a monster-like brawn it isnât as though youâve ever managed to actually get your hands on me.  So what does that say about you, hm~?âÂ
Shizuo continued to be moved by how the other seemed to know exactly what to say to piss him off. He not being blessed with a sharp tongue and like the raven and being clueless as to how to push Izayaâs buttons.
âYour parents have it far worse, they got three tries yet somehow managed to fuck all three of you up.â Alright that wasnât necessarily fair, Izayaâs sisters after all werenât all that bad. If you looked past the part about them being Oriharas, having a weird obsession with his younger brother and being annoying. Either way compared to Izaya both Mairu and Kururi were practically angels. âOr at least the twins, donât really think itâd be fair to blame how you turned out on anyone.âÂ
As for the comment about lacking beauty he was going to ignore it all together. He not thinking he would have been able to make much of an argument about his looks. Not that he thought he was ugly necessarily, Shizuo just knew beautiful wasnât the right word to describe his appearance. âMaybe if you stood still for a second getting my hands on you wouldnât be so damn hard.â There was no way he was going to win in a battle of wit, but in a physical battle in which Izaya walked straight into his hands, heâd like to think heâd have the upper hand. Â Â Â Â
Even if Shizuo had stepped aside, Izaya decided he wouldnât have left. Â For once the bartender couldnât behave like he normally would, and watching his minuscule brain try and come up with a plan of action was far too amusing. Â Would he ultimately give up? Â Or would he try to control himself and actually do something intelligent? Â The latter seemed highly unlikely, but that was the thing about Shizuo; he always did the exact opposite of what you might expect.
âOh? Â So you do want me to stay. Â Well, in that case, Iâll just settle in.â
Things would soon get boring if he didnât stoke the fire, so Izaya began to shrug off his coat, making an exaggerated show of the entire process. Â A part of him honestly expected the other man to try and stop him, but should he even attempt to lay a hand on him he would draw away a bloodied hand for his efforts. Â Not that such a threat would ever really stop him.
âSo do prisoners get fed, or are you planning to starve me to death?â
Still thinking that Izaya might try to make a run for it Shizuo stayed put, blocking the door. He for once being glad that his apartment lacked windows or a balcony, the blond having no doubt that the other man would think twice before running out and jumping out of any available exit and back onto the street. He probably managing to do so without getting a single scratch on him.Â
âI didnât say that!âÂ
Itâs not like he liked Izaya being in his apartment, the whole idea of having something that hadnât yet been corrupted by the other being  completely ruined. But having him cornered was a pretty rare and Shizuo was going to take advantage of it, once he figured out just how to take advantage of it anyway.Â
âLike Iâm suppose to believe you even eat.â Izaya was already all skin and bones from what he could tell, he really doubting âeatingâ was something he did all that often. âPlus, you already look like youâre half way to death. I donât really see how you could get any worse.âÂ
clandestineking:
ââNot everyone can be a genius, Shizu-chan, so donât worry about it too much. Â Iâm a little bit afraid youâll short circuit. Â But I am a little bit curious; did you ever learn how to count past ten? Â Do you still write your name in kana, or have you actually managed to memorize the appropriate kanji?â
The blondâs comeback wasnât anything particularly scathing, and though it really just furthered his point he chose to ignore the childlike behavior Shizuo often displayed. Â Insulting his intelligence might not be anything new, but it was at least funny.
How the hell did he still remember that? âOf course I learned how to write my name in the appropriate kanji.â Attempting to mimic Izayaâs voice towards the end of his sentence he couldnât help but feel as though they were back in high school. It having been a good few years since anyone had mocked him about writing in kana.Â
âNot like itâs matters, donât need to be a genius to bash in that gross looking face of yourâs.â Never mind the fact that Shizuo hadnât even managed to do even that. Â
âWait! No, you canât do that!â
Not be friends? Erika made friends like it was her job but to lose themâŚ
She supposed it happened all the time, but someone like Shizuo was a real great friend to have. The closer she got to him the more she got to observe his relationship with Izaya.
âWe can do something else! What do you like to do?â
âNot like you really gave me much of a choice.âÂ
It seemed that he had been right about her changing her mind, something he was thankful for. Shizuo probably having gone along with whatever the girl wanted if their being friends was really on the line.Â
âUh______â Well he wasnât expected that. âWe could..um, make bracelets?â That was a thing friends did, right?Â

⌠â- the demon is practically PURRING with delight.
â you look fun to play with. â
The look was there, but the smell was definitely not. âYou smell like you finally learned what soap was.â Â

He had a point, school hadnât ever been something Shizuo was particularly good at and it wasnât as though there were any classes that could have prepared him for the job he currently had. âShut up.â But he wasnât going to just sit back and let Izaya take jabs at his intelligence. âMy brain isnât little and it can absorb all sorts of shit.âÂ
"I skipped class to sleep more than twice a week."
Now that just wasnât fair. âYaâ know a lot of people use to ditch.â It wasnât like he was the only one. âNot like I really needed those classes anyway.â  Â
With one hand frozen in mid-air, already dripping with saliva, she waited just a moment before realizing that he was not going to reciprocate.
âOhâŚâ What was she supposed to do with this, then?Â
âBut⌠but you canât really be friends until you do the initiation.â Though maybe small exceptions could be made. Or maybe a modification!
âOkay â I have a great idea!â she balled a fist, punching through the air, âLetâs go see which one of us can eat the most food without puking!â
She couldnât have been serious.Â
âIâm not going to do either of those things.â Shizuo really didnât understand why they couldnât just say they were friends and leave it at that, not seeing the point of some weird ritual to make it âofficialâ .Â
âGuess we just canât be friends then.â Maybe that would make her change her mind. Â

At this point Kyohei didnât think to hold it against him for an apology. Everyone in this city had those days, his friend just happen to have more of those days. Tenfold if he had to put a number on it. His eye shifted over to him and he nodded, he could speculate whatever put him in such a bad mood probably wasnât something he caused directly.Â
âYeah? You wanna talk about it or just leave it at that?â He couldnât really tell if venting would help him or piss him off more so heâd leave it up to him.Â
The fact that Shizuo happened to have more of those days than others was probably his own doing, he waking up everyday with the expectation that it would be shit. This causing his mood to drop at the smallest of things, this also attributing to his short fuse. Though today he felt would have been horrible by anyoneâs standards, not just his incredibly low ones. Â
âNah.â Shizuo sat up straighter, reaching a hand out to the glass of water. âNothing you havenât heard before anyway.â He had talked off the other manâs ears many times since high school, the blond doubting he could rant about anything Kadota hadnât already heard. âThanks for the water.âÂ
"I'm a simple-minded monster, and therefore no one can love me."
âIâm an egotistical narcissist who claims to âloveâ people, so it's sort of funny how not a single one seemed to gives a shit about me.â Simply stating that people liked him more than Izaya was far to easy, not to mention childish. Giving a shamming label in return seemed much more fitting.Â
