Seiji Shiratori / Fleuret french inspirations
Hello ! I love Seiji Shiratori and I'm french, so I'm verry happy he has so many french references and I want to talk about it.
First, the more obvious his Code Name. Fleuret is the french name for foil. A fleuret is used for sports only, in his Phantom Idol form he uses a rapier (non-training version basically).
His All Out Attack is also in French.
"Ătes vous prĂȘts" means "Are you ready", with you being plural.
During his AoA, he can say the line "L'assemblée salue!" which can be translated to "The assembly applauds!".
The main reason they are in French is because it is the official language of fencing.
Also, the castle in the back looks like the Disneyland Paris castle.
Next his design. It is inspired by french nobles in the 18th. They were the one ones that used to duel. His clothes ressemble the drawing "Le Bretteur" (=person doing fencing)
I don't know if It was intentionnal but it can be noted that his broach looks like a compass rose. The french translation is "Rose des vents" = "Wind rose". And he is a Wind characters associated with roses (AoA and sticker).
Lastly, his Persona. Leucothea(=white goddess) is mainly a Greek goddess who protects sailors, but a theory suggests that she was identified with a goddess protector of Paris. She is sometimes associated with seabirds, which may explain her bird-like design. It could also be a reference to the fact that âShiratoriâ means âwhite bird.â
If someone wants to add something or correct me, I would be happy to read !
